I had someone time me as I didn't have my gps with me. My timers time and official time where within a minute. Close enough for me.
#6 should be Roger Cockrum If I can get a clean run today I will be happy with whatever happens. |

It will seem impartial, as I am the race organizer, but the statements posted here yesterday in relation to the timing 'issue' are entierely inacurate and very unfair to the fact that:
1. issues do arrise 2. issues can be resolved 3. issues take time to resolve (we could have made 'a decision' much quicker, but with little regard for scrutiny and our commitment to get it right) 4. we were 100% committed to making the RIGHT decidion, not a decision that made one racer happier than another Yes, there was an issue with the electronic timing system. The Head Timer worked for hours to identify where the error occurred (viewing printouts, etc.). He spoke with all the racers numerous times. He accessed one drivers GPS (the only driver that still had his time stored). Many concrete facts were methodically placed in a factual order, which left one racer without a precise time. That racer (Campbell Aitken) happily suggested a time he felt he raced at (he had a dissapointing run placing him 9 out of 10 racers). This missing time in no way impacted any other racer. I agree it took a long time to work through the details to get to the final results, which may have created a layer of doubt in some people's minds...speculating/assuming are unfriendly past times. It might be worth noting that EVERY racer except Dave Johnson and Mark Hardum finished in the exact same order today as yesterday (Dave and Mark swapped positions today). And, perhaps it's also worth mentioning that each racers times today were near exact to yesterdays. The overall feeling out there today was that today's scores supported the Head Timers final results yesterday. I am in full support of an open forum such as this, where perspectives can be put forth. I've learned so much about the sport from reading the insights of so many on this very website! However, when a comment(s) lacks the basis of fact, and subsequently discredits a race, it's organizers and it's volunteers, it can not be ignored and a response is required. I'm doing so for our race, but also for the sport that so many are trying to grow. Anyone can read this. Is it fair that one person's perspective is how a website surfing fan thinks of Taylor's race? I hope my perspective is understood to be one based on fact. I think the proof is in the pudding. I will be forwarding the COMPLETE results (times, etc.) to this site, SDC and ISDRA (they don't view very well in this format). I'm mostly sorry a great weekend is finishing in this manner. Your the greatest bunch of people to be around - honestly! Cheers, Keir Taylor race coordinator |

I would have loved to have been there, but time off issues with my employer made it a decision I had to make. Many races have a glitch here and there, and life always goes on.
Although I have tried a few times to make it to the Taylor race, I have yet to get there. I would like to thank Keir and his crew of people who continue with their efforts year after year for all the work you people put into the race. As well as for the Extra efforts you put in to have your race later in the year when conditions dont permit you to have one on your chosen weekend I have heard many good things about the Taylor race, and I dont think this incident will leave people thinking anything less of it. I look forward to making it there to race sometime, hopefully soon! Again, thanks Keir and crew! |

I agree with Murray. Also from the 2nd day times it shows the 1st day times were correct.

Thank you to everyone involved in putting on the race in Taylor this year. It was very well organized and the trail was the best we raced on all season. Great job!!!
The complimentary breakfast and lunch for the racers was also a nice touch, as were the head lamps given to all of the kid and mutt racers. The RGO has really been able to turn this into a wonderful community and family event. |
