welcome to miserable at best! this board is essential to finding your way around the site, and discovering everything you need to know to fit in successfully. first and foremost, the rules and plot must be read before you do anything else on the site! there will be a few other threads within here that you may not need to read - the credits, for example. please do not hesitate to ask questions if you need help!

this board will hold all updates and announcements that are important to the site as a whole. most of these topics will be posted as announcements, so they appear on all boards. however, some will not, so it's worth checking out this board every day or so. awards will also be posted on this board.

any questions or suggestions you may have about/for the site may be posted in here! please do not hesitate to post a question in this board if there's no admins online, or if no member can help you. you may also suggest ideas you'd like to see appear on the site; events, plot ideas etc. guest friendly!

now then, this is the important part of the site: your application. please fill out the application provided to the best of your ability, and post it in the pending app. board. if you don't post it in there, then we will not accept it! make sure your face claim is still open.

all accepted applications will be moved from the pending apps board into their right sub-board. these are available for anyone to read! please do not post in this board.

after your application has been accepted, you MUST claim everything you need in this board. face claim and gang standing are the mandatory threads, but please ensure you sign up for everything!

if you need a character created for a plot, a family member position needing to be filled or a sibling wanted, feel free to post them here! it's recommended that you check this board before creating your second character, just in case you find one that suits your fancy.

y'know those threads you make, with the pretty picture and title, explaining a little bit about your character and then asking for people to plot with you? yeah, those go in here.

despite being in an asylum, the inmates have access to cell phones, and the internet. however, they have to be careful! they wouldn't want anything confiscated.

every person needs a diary to write their deepest darkest secrets. make sure you don't get caught reading them! make them as personal and thoughtful as you wish.

it can often be hard to keep up with your threads for your character(s), so using this board you can create yet another thread to make sure you're up to date with your roleplaying.

the once abandoned ball room that was falling into disarray has been completely remodeled for the event. staff have taken it upon themselves to improve the asylum's image, and this means improving those extravagant rooms that no one ever uses. it's a spacious room, decorated preciesily to the theme of halloween. there's a few chairs and tables set up around the sides for the staff to watch and make sure nothing goes wrong.

a small room to the side of the ball room has been restored from a 'broom cupboard' to a new dining area. of course, this will only be used for the one evening the masquerade ball is on, and will probably be used for the staff once the ball is over. beware of the punch - it's probably been spiked a thousand times over, along with the food.

the overgrown gardens have been trimmed and pruned especially for this event. new flowers have been planted, bushes moved, fairy lights strung up on the trees, dead bodies dug up and moved someplace else ... however, if you have any common sense you'll avoid the gardens. there's always crazies lurking among the roses, and tonight is no exception.

the gazebo is a one time only thing, and once the masquerade ball is over the staff will not hesitate before pulling the damn thing down. fairy lights decorate the structure, giving off a calm and relaxed vibe. only couples (and those looking for a quick place to fuck) will be found under the twinkly lights.

the asylum staff have spacious rooms all to themselves; far greater than the dormitories the inmates have to live in. married couples can share dormitories if they wish.

the common room is the only place in the entire asylum (except for the dorms) where you aren't under constant surveillance. it has one tv, a few desks, and many sofa's and armchairs.

the female blocks are solely for the female inmates of stanfield. they hold eight to a room.

the male blocks are solely for the male inmates of stanfield. they hold eight to a room.

the grand foyer of stanfield asylum screams wealth. along with that wealth it also gives off a false security of well behaved students and safeness. however, this tends to be the only room in the asylum that those stuck up parents see.

the auditorium is used by the staff to hold important announcements, or for those artistic students to put on plays. the auditorium is never empty: something suspicious will be going on.

the rundown canteen serves crappy food and needs a good clean. if you want food you're betting off heading to the kitchens and cooking it yourself.

whether you're hurt or injured, or just need someone on medical staff for advice, the infirmary is the best place for both inmates and staff to go to.

yes, you'll notice the word 'bathrooms' here instead of 'girls bathroom' or 'boys bathroom'. the separation of genders has become so fucked up over the years the asylum no longer know which bathroom belongs to who. instead both genders use whatever bathroom they want, and the teachers make a note to stay well away.

all inmates of the asylum are required to attend regular therapy sessions. however, it's a different matter entirely if any bother showing up.

the shock therapy treatment of stanfield is kept a secret from the parents. anytime a patient misbehaves, they're either shut into the solitary confinement room, or given the electric shock treatment. of course, the shock treatment was outlawed many years ago.

solitary confinement is not the place you want to be. locked up for a day or more, completely isolated and unable to do anything. this place isn't just for the insane teens to be shut away, it's also used to to punish misbehaving kids.

it's dark, dismal and depressing. three good reasons why you should stay away, and three good reasons as to why the teenagers love it so much. you'll find a couple doing something x-rated in the dark, for sure!

the morgue isn't exactly a cheerful place, but it's needed. with the amount of mentally challenged teenagers contained in one area, there's often going to be unfortunate deaths. and unfortunately for the inmates of stanfield, the bodies are kept on site until they can be disposed of and their deaths covered up successfully. for some strange reason, you'll often find a living person down here, hiding among the dead.

the staff of stanfield asylum have tried desperately to maintain the library over the years, and have successfully managed to keep the library running. of course, very few people actually use it for reading; the whores use it as a good fucking place, and the addicts use it to smoke weed.

the courtyard was a fine area of the asylum back in the day. even if the flowerbeds are still kept neat and the hedges trimmed, your first impression of the asylum can be dulled by the smoking students and drinking teenagers who usually hang about her during break, lunch and after school hours.

the gymnasium is located in its very own block separate from the main building. school assemblies and gatherings are often held in here, along with the torture that the nerds can't deal with; commonly called physical education.

the asylum stretches for a few acres, so the grass seems never ending. you'll see groups of teenagers - sticking within their cliques - hanging around during break and lunch. and during class. and during the night. in fact, the students prefer the outside to being locked up inside.

the forest isn't really a forest; more like a clump of trees that take up a small bit of space. regardless, if you don't know your way around you may get lost, and then come upon someone fucking in the trees.

the graveyard is just like any other spooky graveyard. of course, past patients with no loving families have been buried here. detentions are served here; primarily to clean the gravestones.

he warehouse was used many years ago to store equipment, stationary and occasionally dried food. however, the warehouse couldn't withstand a riot by a group of drugged up teenagers. the whole place got completely destroyed, and half of it burnt down. since then the warehouse has been left alone and used by those to throw parties, throw a mini gig or just plain fuck.
