Welcome to Sumpter, California. Northern California, actually, so it actually rains and snows during the winter and not every person is walking around with a tan. As it's California, there are also many varied races of people living there and all of these people help add to the interesting type of atmosphere in the little town of Sumpter. It's quite simple, actually. Sumpter is a small town like so many others. There is only one shopping mall, one movie theater, a few restaurants, and one high school. And it is this high school where so much fun of the town exists. But there's quite a bit more to it, not to the town itself but to the people living in it. Most of them are not extraordinary people, there are a few of course, but generally everyone is just an average, small-town person. The only thing that makes them all difference? Well, if drama was a drug, everyone in Sumpter would test positive. It's not that they cause it for themselves or work hard to achieve it, but that which most people find in movies, television, books, and songs? They're at work in Sumpter. It is not limited to the high school students, although there is a great portion of drama happening there, but everyone is touched by it, even a small child. Everyone in the world has some unique story about their life; the people in Sumpter's stories are just a bit more dramatic than the average person.
First, there are the students of Sumpter High School. Once the home of a wealthy family, over the years the old building fell apart and in the will of the last family member, it was donated to be used as a school. But don't let the aged, albeit repaired, halls of the school fool you. So much drama is happening, a bystander may confuse the hallways of the school with the nightly news. It's like every other high school, but due to the fact that there are less than four hundred students in the entire place, everyone seems to know personally or, at least, know of everybody else, having a friend who is friends, or enemies, with so and so. News travels fast and there's not a day when a single person doesn't break out in tears, from happiness just as often as sadness. But despite all the dramatic whirlwind of teenager life, the students of Sumpter are generally, on average, pretty happy. Sure, there are a few depressed, emo kids running around the halls of the High School, but, well, they're just going through a phase. Mostly.
But while we're on the subject of happiness and sadness, we mustn't forget the adults of Sumpter, who play a significant role in the towns drama. While the kids have their own fun, the adults of Sumpter prove that life doesn't end after high school. Their is backstabbing and heartbreak occurring every day, in every store, in every house of Sumpter. Sometimes the drama overlaps, between the halls of the high school and the homes of Sumpter, but rest assured, there is always drama.
But when it comes down to it, life is just like a fleeting music note in time. However, love, well, that's a bit more. Love is more than a single note, it's a lyric.
