Ah, Danielle. If you ask anybody they'll probably tell you what a bitch, a heartbreaker she is, but pshht, if you ask her, she's simply one of a kind. Dani isn't exactly the most down-to-earth girl you'll meet but that's something you'll have to deal with, sorry. Dani will take no crap from anybody and if she doesn't get her way, oh oh, better watch out people. Needless to say, this girl is one spoilt brat. Most of the time Dani wants what she can't have, but once she has it in her palm, she'll get bored with it and throw it away. What can I say? Dani has a short attention span, like a goldfish really.

Lust. Mm, this one really revolves around Dani's life a lot. She certainly has more than her fair share of this deadly sin and boy, she just can't get enough of it. She isn't the type that can resist temptation after all. I mean, why have a long and complicating relationship when you can have a harmless, short and steamy fling? You know what I mean, right? Ooh la la. Men have come in and out of Dani's life countless times, and she can hardly say any of them meant anything to her. Like a predator stalking its victim, Dani will always be on the lookout for someone that catches her eye. You can be sure that if she spots you, Dani won't let go until she has you under the sheets. Ayup, she's that stubborn. It's all a game after all, and you know, Dani loves to win.

But ah, this girl is not all sin and flaws. Dani has her pros too, and one of them is friendship and loyalty. She may act like a cold, bad tempered bitch most of the time, but she's a terrific friend really. If you happen to find yourself in a rough patch, you can rely on Dani to pick up on the first ring, be there at the first sign of help needed, even if it means sacrificing her time flirting with the guys. If you ask Dani, for light there needs to be dark, for good there needs to be bad. Similiarly, if there's happiness, there's bound to be sadness and that sadness wasn't meant to be carried all on your own. Her shoulder will always be free to help carry that awful weight, and they will always be strong and steady for you to cry on. Anybody who wants to pick on her friends better think twice, Dani isn't the kind to forgive and forget. Remember, temper temper.

She's rather quiet when it comes to her past, Dani doesn't like people knowing her parents' tragic death. She hates sympathy and detests the sad smiles everyone flashes at her when she reluctantly tells them about it after being bugged about a million times. To Dani, her parents lived a long time ago, in a life she no longer led or wanted to lead at all. If she doesn't feel sorry for herself, why should you? Exactly.

If there's one thing about Dani that people least expect, it's that she's a daydreamer. They think that she's a materialistic girl that only wants what she can't get, buried too deep in the real world, but no no no, I beg to differ. This girl loves to stare into space, oh so deep in thought. It's a calming process, really. No one knows what she's thinking when she falls into one of her moods, but it's obvious when she does because of the sudden tranquilty seen in her face. Daydreaming gives Dani a lot of time to think about her life, that's why most of her friends tend to think her blogging deep. But then again, no one really understands Dani. A pity really.

MOM’S NAME // Lauren Felicity Sinclair
DAD’S NAME // David Spencer White
SIBLINGS // Alicia June White (older sister)
OTHER IMPORTANT RELATIVES // -
HISTORY //
It all started one afternoon in hot and dusty Kenya, Africa. Lauren Sinclair was a wildlife photographer on a fieldtrip to the African country, the youngest in fact, in her whole group. The other photographers thought the twenty three year old too eager, too jumpy to be able to take a good picture, she'd simply scare all the animals away! So when Lauren came down with a slight fever, the group was slightly relieved and they coaxed the young woman into a tent, glad to be rid of her for the day. Rest, rest, Sinclair, sleep today, join us again tomorrow. The elephants and giraffes will still be here tomorrow. But as the day stretched on Lauren's fever became worse, and by the time her co-workers came back to their base, she was crawled up beneath her covers, mumbling to herself, her skin coated in a layer of cold sweat.

Our next scene is just 250km away from our heroine's tent, the airstrip in Nanyuki, a small market town in Kenya. David Collins sat in the old seat of his small but precious plane, resting after returning from fetching a couple of businessman to Nairobi. He yawned a couple of times before his eyes fluttered close, but he couldn't seem to fall asleep. That was the thing about the weather in Africa. Sometimes it was so hot that you had to constantly keep moving to prevent melting in a spot, but then if you moved too much you'd get all hot and bothered. And at night it just freezing. He moved around in his seat, knowing that he should report back to base just about a hundred steps away. But damn he was so lazy, and he needed some sleep.

By evening, David had woken up from his light slumber, feeling slightly better as the temperature was cooler. His steps were light as he walked back to the building that was the airstrip base, anticipating a nice shower and some dinner before bunking down for the night. But his hopes were shattered the moment his eyes rested upon Ahmad, his boss, standing at his office doorway, calm and dark eyes obviously searching for something... or someone. David stopped in his tracks, feeling that he knew what Ahmad wanted. Him and his plane. But no no no, David wasn't about to do another flight tonight. His work was over today and all he wanted was his lumpy and sweat-stained pillow and a good night's rest. He backed away but nope, he was too late. Ahmad had seen him. The African man flashed David a bright smile, his intentions obvious.

A very sick woman that needs medical attention, just an hour's flight away from here. Ahmad's words rang in David's ears. The twenty eight year old gave a frown. Of course, he knew it was his job as a pilot to fly people around, and he knew the other pilots were all on duty somewhere or another, so that meant he was the only one that was available. And only a plane would be able to send this woman to a clinic in time, a jeep would take too long. It could be malaria or something serious that needed medical attention right away. Shit. How fate loved to toy with his life. He nodded stiffly before turning his back on his employer, mumbling profanities as he stalked back to his plane. Ahmad merely smiled. The man knew David loved being a pilot, and of course the American wouldn't refuse to fly. That was what David lived for after all, or so he claimed. After performing some quick tests and checking that the gas tank was full, routine stuff, David climbed into his elegant piece of metal. He couldn't help but feel a small skip in his heart as the plane lifted into the air and sent clouds of dust flying everywhere. Oh yeah, he loved it.

After consulting Ahmad's directions, David had a rough idea of where this photographers' camp was. Some bunch of people from some weird wildlife magazine or TV show or whatever, he remembered another pilot saying over dinner the other day. He steered the light aircraft high in the air, marvelling at the nature around him. David could never get over the fact that he, he! was actually flying. Even if it was in a piece of old metal. After an hour of flying, he spotted a few tarp tents in the distance, hardly visible in the darkening surroundings. He landed a little way away from the tents, and as he hopped down to the dusty ground, saw a couple of worried looking figures rush over to him. Ah, so these were the photographers, David thought with a small smile. And where was this sick person he needed to fetch? His eyes scanned the area quickly and saw a stretcher being carried towards them, a feeble looking person lying on it.

David's jaw dropped in shock. My god, he thought, oh my god. But it wasn't her frail condition that prompted him to say those words, in fact, it wasn't anything like that at all. As he stared at her pale face, sweaty skin and parched lips, David knew he was looking at the most beautiful woman in the world. Dear god, he was in love. Suddenly feeling all eyes on himself, David snapped out of his daze and ushered them to carry the woman into the plane. Don't worry, don't worry, I'll have her at the hospital in no time. You can count on me.

Malaria wasn't an uncommon disease in those parts, and the Nanyuki Cottage Hospital staff were more than ready to treat any patients with the disease, though luckily Lauren wasn't one of them. Her fever, what looked like a symptom of malaria, turned out to be, well... just a little case of dehydration. Everyone was glad to hear the news, especially a certain pilot, exhausted and half asleep outside Lauren's door. As David stood there slumped against the door, he realized that never in his life had he felt this way before. His heart was pounding against his chest, and he wondered whether his ribs would crack from the pressure. His blood was pumping, rushing in his veins, and would they burst? It was the first time he couldn't control his feelings, and David knew he had to have her. He wasn't a big believer in love, heck, he planned to be a bachelor his whole life! But looks like fate had other plans for him.

Within the week Lauren was discharged from the hospital, and David was eager to meet her. She didn't recognize him of course, but David settled that problem soon enough. Lauren was flattered, it wasn't everyday that such a good-looking pilot walked up to her, obviously smitten. What was there to think about? They were in Africa for work, alone without family and friends, a little fling would just make things easier, a little more fun. Oh yeah, it was fun at first, but as the weeks flew by, both knew that things couldn't last forever. And it seemed that David and Lauren were reluctant to part. What started out as a harmless fling turned out to be something more. But was a long distance relationship going to work?

The day before Lauren left for New York, David sat on his bunk, wondering. Was he too greedy to ask Lauren to stay? Of course he was. Bloody hell, everything was so complicated like a friggin soap opera. So it was decided. Lauren would leave as planned, and David would stay in Africa, continuing with his job and life. But as they said their goodbyes at the airstrip, David realized that never again in his life would something like this happen. Flying? He could do that anywhere in the world. But Lauren, he'd lose her forever if he let go now. A farm boy all the way from Oregon that dreamt of escaping and ended up in Africa with a plane. Ah yes, complete freedom, a dream come true. He loved his life, but he loved Lauren as well. And... damn it, he would have her!

In a year, David had settled down with Lauren in her hometown, New York. Lauren left her wildlife photographer job and opted for a small pay salary but comfortable job at a firm that worked with wedding planners. And David found a new job as well, it was easy to find a job with one of the many private transportation companies that needed good pilots. And with everything taken cared of, there was only one thing left. Yes, you got it. A wedding. It was a small and private affair but it was a happy day for the couple, although it seemed that fate loved to toy with them, and their happiness wouldn't last forever.

Alicia came first, a beautiful bundle of golden hair and bursts of adorable gurgles of laughter. And then eight years later, the star of our show, Danielle came into the world, crying fretfully, throwing her fists at anyone that approached. Dani was always loved from the start. She had parents who dotted on her, and a sister who was always there to protect and defend her from any harm that came her way. But the girl always felt that something was lacking in her colourful life, though she didn't know what. She had attention, love, enough toys and money to get through her childhood, so what was it? As she grew up, Dani came to realize that nothing her family did for her could ever satisfy her. More, more and more she craved, but they could give no more. Ah, the fact was Dani was spoilt, and her family never did anything to stop her. Greed... was Danielle's greatest flaw.

Then ah, tragedy. The incident that turned nine year old Dani's little life upside down. She walked into her parents' room one morning, singing at the top of her voice, only to see her mommy and daddy packing, and for a moment her selfish self thought they were leaving her. But no, it wasn't anything like that. It was their eighteen year anniversary and David and Lauren were flying out to Hawaii on a vacation. Danielle, taken aback that her parents would just leave her and her sister like that, started to sulk, although there was nothing she could do to stop them. It was a well deserved treat for David and Lauren, who had been working their butts off to raise their two daughters. And with Alicia's promise to take care of the house and her sister, the couple left with smiles on their face, anticipating their week of relaxation. Danielle sat on the stairs, staring at the door her father closed shut moments earlier. It was a pity, but they never came through that door again, it was the last time Danielle ever saw her parents.

The day past by uneventfully and then morning came once again. For the first time in her life Danielle felt sorry for herself, but at least there was Alicia to take care of her, right? But when Dani walked out of her room, rubbing tiredness out of her eyes, she saw Alicia sitting on the stairs with tears pouring down like a waterfall. At first Dani thought Alicia was crying over her latest breakup, until she realized her older sister was mumbling about their parents and a plane crash in the ocean. An enjine malfunction, everyone later called it. A faulty routine checkup before take off, and just like that, Lauren, David and his prized possession were buried on the seafloor, never to be seen by their loved ones again.

The next few days were hell for the sisters. They had no family left, and they cried their eyes out and wondered about their future, though they found out about that the next day. The first ring of the doorbell, Danielle thought that her parents had come home again, that the plane crash was just a stupid nightmare. But no, the faces that greeted her were not the sweet and caring ones of her parents, instead, these faces were solemn and businesslike, a man and a woman who wanted to see David and Lauren Collin's eldest daughter. They disappeared into the kitchen with Alicia, and for some while Danielle heard the serious and hushed voices of the adults and the shaky and worried one of her sister. Later on she found out they were from the children's social services. Something had to be done about the well-being of the Collins children.

Alicia had refused to let Danielle end up in foster care in the long term, but there was no relative to take on the role as their legal guardian. So what was to be done? Alicia decided that if anything happened to her parents, they would have wanted her to take care of Danielle at all costs. Her birthday would arrived in a few months, and all they had to do was wait until she turned eighteen. Then their problems would be solved. Those months were long and at first Danielle hated the children's home, she couldn't wait for the day Alicia came to pick her up again. But it took Alicia a year before she came back for Dani, and when those twelve months were over, Danielle realized that her life would never be the same again.

The sweet and down-to-earth girl that was Alicia was no more. Instead, Danielle saw a bad tempered young woman with the world on her shoulders, a terrible weight to bare. Danielle did not know who Alicia was anymore, she had changed so much in just one year. But Alicia was only begining to taste what the real world was like. She didn't expect life to be so tough, and it was like a smack in the face. Sympathy was something that came rarely, and so Alicia learned to suck it up and play tough just like everyone else. She found a job soon enough, but wasn't proud of it one bit. But she had the looks, the body and that was enough to put money in her pocket, so she held her tongue.

Danielle however, wasn't sold that easily. The first time Alicia took her to her workplace, Dani almost tripped over in complete shock. A strip club? She almost ran away right then and there. But slowly Dani understood that it was the only way Alicia could earn enough money to support the both of them. Needless to say, Alicia was a favourite at the club, and the tips she collected in a week was enough to last a whole month's expenses. It wasn't long enough Dani became accustomed to her life and her sister's job. And while it wasn't something she'd gloat about, Dani wasn't entirely disgusted by it either. She discovered there was a certain excitement to Alicia's line of work, and as she grew up, Dani followed Alicia to work more and more. But the older girl thought Dani far too young to be exposed like that, so she tried her best to keep her away.

Soon Dani was turning fourteen years old and was blooming beautifully like a flower. And Alicia started to get worried when her manager started asking question about her younger sister. Alicia knew the manager was always on the lookout for new girls and she decided that the strip club wasn't safe for them anymore. After a heated conversation with the perverted manager, Alicia quit her job. Without a job, the sisters knew they couldn't survive for long but it seemed that luck was on their side when one day there came a knock at the rotting wooden door. It was one of her clients, a middle aged man recently divorced and rich beyond words. At first Alicia was pissed off that he intruded her personal space, but after his earnest explanation that he found himself in love with her, she calmed down. The man wasn't what Alicia thought as an ideal lover, but he had money and that was her only way out. So an agreement was made, on the condition that Dani was allowed to live with them in peace.

So once again the sisters moved, to the man's place in Upper East Side. And hmm, a live-in lover wasn't such a bad thing after all. The old fool as Dani and Alicia dubbed him was a busy businessman and was hardly ever home, so they basically had the huge apartment to themselves. Life had been tough for the sisters, but they were finally able to lay back and relax. Dani seemed to like her new life, completely sponsored and paid for by the her sister's boyfriend. It was perfect, with no financial problems to worry about, she could concentrate on developing her singing, which she hoped could bring her to high places in society. But it wasn't long before she got bored being cooped up with Alicia all day, so Dani decided to carve her own path in life. After a few days of hunting, she found a pamphlet for a school called Liberty High. She was a few weeks too late, the ship had already left the New York harbour, but Dani, not really one to give up easily, had her sister coax the old fool into getting Dani into the high profile private school. Unfortunately, the SS Liberty was full up that year and the fourteen year old had to wait another year being admitted into Liberty High.

She's seventeen now and has made quite a name for herself on the magnificent cruise ship, but it's hardly the end if you ask me. In fact, it's only the beginning.
