OVERALL PERSONALITY //

People think they know Ed, oh yes they do. They take one look at him and think he has earned his place as a playboy who likes to party and drink a lot. Yes, that it true, but there is so much more to Ed than just that. Believe it or not, the cocky bastard has feelings as well. He can be a pretty sweet guy when he takes it to his mind to do it, although most of the time he simply takes the easy way out and uses his status to charm the skirts off girls. It could be that Ed has commitment issues. Somehow the thought of a long relationship kind of scares him sometimes, especially when a girl is looking for love.

There is no doubt that Ed is one confident dude, maybe a little over the edge though. This young man thinks quite highly of himself and will be mildly surprised if you don't. He uses his confidence to his advantage, a confident Ed is hard to resist sometimes. Most of the time Ed treats girls like trophies, they're nice to look at, but have no sentimental value to Ed. He may seem like a jerk, but as mentioned above, he can be quite a nice guy.

Ed has a lot of friends, but only a few mean something to him, if you happen to be one of the selected few, you can count on Ed to watch your back. Ed does not look at betrayal too kindly though, double cross him and you're good as dead. He can be quite picky, he's always vying to be at the top, second best means nothing to him. You could say he's quite competitive. Heh. As most of his friends know, Ed's favourite sport in the world is football. He's very passionate in whatever he does, and football is no exception. He's materialistic as well, Ed has been this way ever since he was a kid when his parents bought presents and toys for him whenever they weren't home. Ed may come off as pretty independant, but really he needs some friends to rely on, and lead him.

Most people don't take Eddie seriously, and they laugh when he says he has a passion for reading and wants to become writer. But they don't know how serious Eddie is about his ambition. He hates it that his family is always pressuring him to do good, they only want him that way so they can trust him to take over the Davenport empire. He just hopes that one day his parents will see through the person he has become, before it's too late.

HISTORY //

Let us start from the very beginning, shall we? To the very first meeting twenty eight years ago. It was an unfortunate morning for Ellen, she was late for her first day of college, her clothes were a mess due to running all the way to class and worst of all her hair was looking like a bird's nest. In the corner of the classroom, Edward Sebastian Davenport II wasn't having much of a morning either. He had spilled coffee all over his brand new laptop and his white shirt; his mother was going to kill him. The young man groaned at his bad luck, not knowing that six seconds later he would meet the woman of his dreams. Six, five, four, three, two, one... the clock ticks and with a defeated sigh, Edward looks up from his corner, and lo and behold! Who is she? What's her name? Questions started popping into Edward's head as he stares at Ellen like a lovesick puppy. And for the first time in his life, he felt his heart race like nothing before, his blood rushed to his face, was that a blush? and his vision was a blur. God, it was love a first sight. If only, if only, he could get her to sit by him, or just say a simple hello, his life would be perfect, everything would be sweet.

But life was usually a bitch, and Edward didn't get the chance to even talk to Ellen until a week later. She was constantly busy with her studies, Ellen wasn't one to play and have fun, so the moment Business 101 was over she grabbed her books and dashed back to her dorm to go through the day's lesson again. When Edward finally spoke up, Ellen gave a smile. But then again, almost everyone smiled at Edward when they heard his English accent. So, coffee? Coffee it was, at the small cafe just round the corner of the college building. Maybe another cup? Maybe. Another cup turned into another date and another and another, and it was all smooth sailing after that.

Skip a few years, Ellen and Edward had finally graduated. And it was time to meet the parents. Both families seemed to approve of the couple, though for more personal reasons. Edward's parents were constantly worried that their only son would be seduced by a woman who only wanted his money, their money excuse me, so they were relieved to hear that Ellen James was the daughter of Richard James, a prominent figure in society and also business. Now, the last thing Edward had to do was propose. Simple right? Oh yeah, after a few fumbles with his elegant speech, all was settled and the wedding bells were just around the corner. It was to be a garden ceremony, a lavish event, with half of London society in attendance. Was it too big of an event? Nonsense! Nothing was too big for the Davenports! And nothing could be too small for the James!

The honeymoon was what it was supposed to be, sweet and relaxing, but the moment the couple returned to London, all they could think about was work, work and more work. Now they had settled down, their careers had become their priorities, family came in second. Things stayed like that for awhile, until the year Ellen celebrated her 29th birthday. She was out with Edward and her family when she felt a mild case of nausea. Over the next couple of days it got worse, until Ellen couldn't stand it and finally consulted her family doctor. And say what? She was pregnant? No, it couldn't be! She was about to get promoted, she didn't have time to think about a baby! She wasn't mother material! Ellen was really just scared, and in the end Edward managed to convince her that their baby was the best thing that could ever happen to them, although the morning sickness was just so... urgh.

Nine months later on an indian summer, August 15th, Edward Sebastian Davenport III was finally delivered into the world. Edward held his firstborn in his arms, delighting in the soft petals that were Ed's fingers and toes, and breathing in the baby scent only newborns had for the first few months. His little boy. The first few weeks were happy for the little family, and when baby Eddie was introduced to the house that would be his home, he cooed and sucked on his tiny fist, gurgling happily. But then just a month later, reality came on in full blast. Ellen wasn't the type of woman to stay at home all day and be a homemaker, so the moment her leave expired, she packed her leather briefcase, put on her favourite worksuit on, dumped little Eddie on a babysitter and was out of the house. Edward too was working hard on his company, and rarely spent anymore time with his precious son.

It was a rapid change, but little Davenport was too young to understand what was going on around him. So he played with his babysitter all day, until his parents came into his room at night to give him a goodnight kiss, and then a few hours later they would come in again for a morning hug, and then they were off to work. It had become a routine. And to make up for the lack of company, they filled Eddie's playroom with toys and gadgets every child could ever want. So Eddie Davenport became a spoilt brat, and by the time he was ten, already switched babysitter sixteen times. His parents finally decided he was old enough to stay home alone, so they left him be, simply saying he was going through one of those phases, he was growing up after all. It went from bad to worse. With no guardian to supervise him, Eddie became a monster, and even in school the teachers could no control him.

As he grew into his teen years, Eddie was popular guy in school, although not in a good way. He was the one everyone counted on to make a party go wild, to get drunk and make jokes and have a good time. His friends were always pushing him on, and it wasn't long before Eddie went too far. It was obvious Eddie was merely seeking attention, he wanted his parents to pay more attention on him instead of working their butts off on their jobs. But soon it became a habit, and you know what they say about habits, they are hard to break. It wasn't long before everyone in society disapproved of the unruly sixteen year old, even his own grandparents would not talk to him. Ellen and Edward didn't want to believe it at first, they still had the image of a little laughing Edward in their minds, but when Eddie embarrassed the whole family at the annual Davenport family banquet, the image was wiped out and they found themselves staring at reality. It was like a smack in the face. Ouch.

So Eddie's parents started pouring over brochures, they were adamant to send their son to a new school, perhaps with a new environment he would change his ways. After a week of discussion and searching, Ellen and Edward finally found a school they thought was worthy enough for Edward, and of course worthy enough for the Davenport family name: Liberty High. The school seemed to be perfect. High school on a cruise ship. Hopefully the time away from home would make Eddie change his ways, and in the mean time, they could get him out of the way, faraway from the public's prying eyes. So they made Eddie pack his bags, he was to board the ship immediately when it stopped at London. The news surprised the teen at first, he didn't expect his parents to take such extreme measures. But it was all a game for him, and he didn't mind leaving his friends behind, there would always be new ones, no? So in less than a week Eddie had boarded the ship at London. Since then, he has taken up one of the American's favourite sports - football. And of course Liberty High a much better school for Edward, right mom and dad? But oh, we know better, don't we?
