This is from another post- so another character- but it will give you an idea of my style Donnan was skipping class... It sounded worse than it really was, he was sure. He was just too tired to make it all the way through Potions Class. That was one class he could not afford to fall asleep during; if he did, his cauldron might explode or something, which would be dangerous for everyone. No, it was better off if he took off this class, knowing as he did that he wouldn't be able to manage it.

It had been this way since he had begun this term. Last year he'd had about twice as much energy as he did now. He knew that it was due to the fact that he hadn't eaten much over the summer. Malnutrition sapped a person's energy faster than anything else. Worse, now that he was in an environment where food was readily available, he couldn't keep anything down. He'd read up on the subject a bit and discovered that a starving person's stomach became too weak for normal food, but he hadn't figured out what to do about it. He couldn't go to the nurse about it, either, because then he would have to tell why he hadn't eaten all summer... He couldn't admit that he'd lived on the street for those few months, which had seemed to drag by. The teacher wouldn't understand.

Donnan couldn't go to his dorm rooms, nor anywhere else he would typically haunt, because if for some reason his Potions professor chose to look for him, he couldn't be available. That was why he had selected this abandoned classroom. If he sat at the desks off to the side, he wouldn't be visible from the hallway, and nobody would think of looking for him here.

He'd brought his potions text with him. After all, it wasn't as though he didn't want to learn the material. He just didn't trust that it would be safe for him to be in the classroom right now. He brought out the text and flipped to his current chapter. A weird sight, if anyone was paying attention. Donnan had skipped Potions class so he could study Potions. //

OVERALL PERSONALITY //

Echo is a quiet, reserved boy most of the time. He likes to be left alone, and large crowds overwhelm him a lot of times. He'd much prefer to be reading a book in his room than to be attending a large party.

Echo doesn't have a lot of friends, due to the fact that he doesn't introduce himself to people, but if they introduce themselves to him, they learn to like him pretty well. He doesn't boast, and is pretty laid back, which people like. At times, however, he is a little too laid back, unable to convince himself to concentrate on his schoolwork- or anything else.

Echo has a hard time concentrating in school. He is a fiddler, and his hands always have to be moving. It is what originally drove him to writing- when he was in class, if he was writing a story, he was able to concentrate more fully on what his teachers were saying. Some of them, however, don't appreciate what they see as his disrespect, and expect him to get through their classes without writing. It's these classes that he usually does the most poorly in.

Echo is given to periods of great depression, from which he has to be pulled rather bodily. Although he is often considered a mature young man, in one way he is still young; he still wishes that he had a parental figure to lead him and protect him. Without this, he always feels young and vulnerable. He thinks of it as a failure, an inability to be loved, and it leads to depression.

At other times, however, Echo can seem incredibly happy and lively. He is usually joyous when he is around his friends, and can be full of energy. He is incredibly loyal to his friends, putting their interests above his own at times. He usually hangs around the underdogs in school, and tries to make their lives better, as though his lack of someone to protect him has demanded that he be that person for everyone around him.

Echo can at times seem obsessive. He often gets lost in one activity, and it is hard to reach him or to interest him in anything else. At times like this, when asked why he isn't thinking like everyone else, he replies merely that he is inside one of his novels, and doesn't want to come out. Beyond that, nobody has been able to get a clear answer on these moods.

HISTORY //
Echo was born in Florida, but moved to Maine when he was little more than a year old. He was an accidental birth, and his parents were already at odds by the time he was born. When he was three years old, Echo had a seizure in the parking lot of his mother's work. The doctor's couldn't find out what was wrong with him, and his more and more frequent seizures made them say that at the very least, he would grow up with brain damage; at most, he may die.

This extra stress was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back between Echo's parents. By his fourth birthday, they had separated, and he and his brothers were living with his mother. He saw his father every other weekend, but it wasn't the same as living with him.

Echo was always a quiet boy, and became even more so after he began having his seizures. He was always afraid of when they would occur, learning to hate ambulances and hospitals before he learned his alphabet. His older brothers paid him little mind, finding him to be an annoying boy, always underfoot. He tended to take to his room a lot.

When he was six years old, both his mother and father had found new relationships, and it seemed to be a contest on who would marry first. By the year's end, both had married, and he found himself suddenly with four step siblings, but it seemed like he was more alone than ever. All five of the siblings at his mother's house ignored him, preferring to play amongst themselves. It seemed like he was always on his own. The only sibling who paid him any heed was Wraith- when he wasn't messed up on drugs.

When his siblings got out of the house, Echo learned that he and his mother and stepfather really didn't get along. They were fighting all the time, until Echo was about ready to commit suicide. At this point, his mother started taking him to counseling. When that didn't work, she decided that the best thing for him- for both of them- would be for him to go to boarding school, far away... That's when they discovered Liberty High.
