Kenny employs Jay Black (Fender Custom Shop Master Builder) to supply him with his new guitars.

Kenny's main guitars include the following:

- 1961 fender stratocaster (main guitar)
- 1958 fender stratocaster
- 1961 fender stratocaster custom shop replica (of his main guitar)
- custom shop relic prototype (black?)
- custom shop relic (white)
- fender stratocaster (blonde) As seen played on Austin City Limits
- fender hendrix monterey custom shop:

- Les Paul Standard (Black):

- CHARLEY WHIRZ "Charley" Replica ala SRV:

If anybody has any other info about KWS' guitars, feel free to post it here for all to enjoy smile.gif

Cheers,

Heres a picture that I really like. Its a massive picture of his guitar rack. I also didnt take this, and take no credit for it. I just thought Id share it.

tubescream8: These are really great pics/scans you have posted here. They help answer and correct some of the info I put here too...like the prototype IS the blonde one he played on ACL, not black like I thought.

Thanks for the correction,

62strat: Welcome to the forum smile.gif

Hey tubecreamer the pictures of Kennys guitars that are from the magazine can you put those in the same format as the picture with the guitars on the stand??

The reason I ask is because if you click on the picture of the guitars on the stand it takes you to another page and then if you click on them again it blows them up BIG and you can really see the detail and I wanted to do this with the pictures of each individual guitar to get a better look at them....

Thanks For You Help. biggrin.gif

YOUR THE MAN FOR THOSE PICS...

Very good question, I don't know the answer thought I'm sorry. Probably fairly standard issue ones in the customs I'll bet. Could be wrong...

I don't think he uses the Tex Mex ones like in the SRV strat for example.

The SRV Signature Strat has Texas Specials in it not Tex Mex Pickups.

I have one thats how I know. I was just wondering because I have a '62 American Vintage Reissue Fender Stratocaster and I was thinking about changing the pickups and was just wondering what Kenny was useing.

Still wondering about those pictures though, can you get them to blow up like the ones on the rack??

The pictures from the magazine are at their max size I believe. I can still upload them in that format if you wish, but I dont believe it will make the picture any bigger. The guitarrrack picture is just a huge photo. If you have a photo viewing program you could just save them, and zoom in. But Im sure that changing the format will not make the pictures any bigger. I wish it did though.

I believe Kenny uses stock pickups. Just the standard pickups. Im not sure what he uses n the RI guitars, I dont know if theyre the equivilant reissue pickups, or if they are true vintage pickups. Not sure.

does anyone know what guage strings Kenny uses?? I know they have to be pretty big to get that FULLNESS in his tone.

I'm glad this site was made it REALLY renew'd my interest in KWS. I LOVE all Kenny's stuff with KWSBand but when I bought the new album it was A LOT different as you all know. Like most I was expecting to hear a Blues/Rock album and what I heard was a ROCK/ROCK album. I'm a big BLUES guy myself and I have really made the turn away from Rock music pretty much all together unless it is Blues/Rock.
I guess after YEARS of Jamming in Rock bands and the way the Rock scene is now I'm just over it. BUT boy do I love my Blues/Rock.
