Title: Smallville Listed Worst Returning Fall Tv Show!
Iwan - August 22, 2009 05:25 AM (GMT)
Yeah I know,It`s not like we need the wordl to tell us of how awful this show have become, but i was just about to open my yahoomail, when this thing popped out:
http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/fall-preview-the-...ning-shows--531 ....
"Smallville" (Returns September 25)
This will mark the show's ninth season, and it's remarkable how progressively worse it gets each year -- and we're comic book fans. Can't imagine what real people will think.
It`s a bit ironic considering years ago, when our girl was still a regular,up till s7,one day before season premiere, the show had always in Top search column.
Anyway,if any of you still care just check the link.......and Big Congrats to SMALLVILLE! :yay:

The show is far from great but I'm sure there are many other shows coming back that are worse than Smallville. I think every reality show is crap, as is any karaoke show (American Idol) or dance contest.

Reality shows and scripted show should never be grouped together.
As a scripted show, Smallville blows hard and has been blowing hard for a long while now!

I wouldn't give two hoots and a holler to keep a single reality show, much less all of them, on to waste the airways. To my line of thinking they are about as appealing as a pile of dinosaur dung, and American Idol is the pit of pits. Give me a Walker Texas Ranger rerun for the hundredth time any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Heck, I'd settle for a six week Smallville marathon over a night of reality TV any time.

Yikes! I`d take reality shows like idol and survivor anyday than have to sit through one hour watch sillyville!
Smallville has past way it`s prime. If a show end,the fans would want people saying 'OMG i loved that show" and not "Thank God!Finally! It was boring and too freaking Long"
It would have ended on a high note and left a better impression if they could`ve just end the show in season 5.
Season 5 and 2 were the only season i watched the show regularly.even when kristin was full time on it,i wasn`t even a regular viewer( yeah that`s right i said it).
Like what Yahoo said, the only people who still watch are comic book geeks.and they kinda different from 'the real people' :D
As bad as smallville is i kinda feel sorry for the guy who play clark.Typecast for an actor is like losing your hand if you were a writer.Plus the dude just refuse to move fucking on. He`s killing the show in process. :hmm:
I`m so glad Kristin left, and it`b be whole lot better if she could just left sooner.

I stopped liking Smallville for every aspect of it after season 3... then stopped watching every week and full episodes after season five.
I pretty much watched most Smallville on youtube from season 5 and on... and only the Lana/Clana scenes...
Season 8 was the first time in three seasons I actually took the time to be home and have my TV on, on Smallville and that was only because I knew KK would be in all those five episodes and they were her final ones! :D
I personally love reality TV... but only the ones on cable... and mostly on BRAVO.

You can watch all the reality shows you want, but I wish they weren't on my TV. I have 250 channels but I mostly watch reruns, Mash, Star Trek, Enterprise, Walker Texas Ranger, Monk, Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, Touch By An Angel, Bonanza, and yes Smallville new and old, because I refuse to sit through one minute of what to me is garbage. Smallville isn't the best show on TV anymore but I still enjoy it, and it is better than a gaggle of half naked men and women running around like chickens with their heads cut off. Again that is just my personal opinion, not necessarily of any worldly importance.
Other shows I watch are Eureka, Warehouse 13, NCIS, and the like.

I actually stop watching the show around this time maybe even sooner. I do apologize. The simple fact that its taking him this long to become Superman its pitiful.
See when this show ends, the episodes thats really are going to make any type of residual or royaly is the first three or four episodes. Its sad because the show has been going for so long that even in syndication some networks if any (well Nickolodean will) are not going to pick this show up because look how long it takes him to become Superman plus thats money out of the networks pockets. Really they didn`t even need this scene with Jensen "why" because in the movie with Chris Reeves him and Lana Lang wind up actually reuniting with each other in the fourth film.
Shows like "Zena the Warrior Princes" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", they had actors and actresses come in but they left the show to pursue other things. That`s why those shows cleaned up in syndication besause they stuck to the original characters a simple little act. Hell even the "Cospy Show" and the "Fresh Prince on Nickolodean is still making residuals because they stuck to original characters!
I know Kristin went on and did other projects which is a credit to her plus her acting ability, but the show itself suffered because when the show got bigger the creativity was lost. The first three episodes are really the episodes that are going to make any money and whether Kristin would like to or not probaley "not", if she appeared on that show right now ratings would probaley go up. The simple little act that all of these people (producers and writers)had to do was stick to original script.
A quote of wisdom: Take one thing out of whatever it is and learn how to perfect it.
Simple enough and NO this is not just on going talk!
By the way can he still fit in the suit? I doubt it but if this is something to talk about such as Lana`s past co-star acting relationship`s on the show so be it. At least this is exciting than the current show itself now.

True words there bobby!
I can't recall one tv series where all the original characters but TWO are all gone!
Buffy had all, but two by the time it ended.
Dawson's Creek had all.
7 Heaven had all but one or two.
Lois and Clark had all, but two.
List goes on and on.
Smallville has lost 5...and that's not including Pete and Whitney!

Where is Pete and Whitney? Whitney was the jock! I haven`t seen them around. See in this business I guess its not something that`s on going. Maybe they`re trying to turn the show into another "Lois and Clark". By this being his teenage young adult years, Lois is not suppose to be on the show only Lana, again stick to script!
Naw I don`t see it. Even that cast of "Thirty Something" just reunited to do an episode. I don`t see a reunite episode later down the line "maybe" anything is possible however its hard to tell with Smallville because they forgot who started on the show. Buffy ended great in my opinion and I know this is about "Kristin" in this forum but when they evacuated the town in Buffy and they destroyed it!? Joss Wheden is the man! The original characters were there even Angel showed up! Smallville. Well I`ll stop talking though, just had some thoughts...
;)

7th Heaven started out with seven regulars, Father, mother, Matt, Mary, Lucy, Simon, and Ruthie. It ended up with only four of the original cast Rev. and Mrs Camdon, Lucy, and Ruthie. The rest were all added later as the show progressed and lost characters who left to pursue other things. The twins were late arrival additions to the family. Lucy's husband was also a very late addition. The multitude of kids, all replacements for Matt, Mary, and Simon who had left the show. Matt did reappear in guest appearances a few times here and there but those also stopped, Mary once to warn Simon not to marry the girl Rose I think her name was, and then Simon left never to return. It was a very good show but it was hard to remember who was who because the main cast was typically changing year to year after the fifth season. In the final episode only four of the original cast were present, basically half. Even at that it may have been one of my favorites of all time right there beside MacGyver, Stargate, Bonanza, and Babylon 5.

Regardless, that's more than Smallville is ending up with...and word has it this is Allison Mack's last season...so if Smallville goes for a 10th season, it'll only have ONE original character.
Smallville started with Martha, Jonathan, Clark, Lana, Lex, Lional, Chloe, Pete and Whitney.
Right now we only have Clark and Chloe left... at least 7th Heaven managed to keep 4 original characters out of 7 by the last season.
Also, managed to keep the original characters appearing by the 9th and 10th season... Smallville doesn't even have that!

Yeah, I read that Allison was leaning toward not renewing her contract next year. But then I also read somewhere in my meanderings that Tom was thinking about the same thing. I forget just were I was at the moment but the article mentioned both Allison and Tom as having other possible projects in the fire for the coming year. Just have to wait and see.
As to keeping the original characters for the life of a series, I don't see that as all important as long as the central focus remains steady. Shows have to evolve and spiral outward from the beginning which unfortunately at times means leaving some characters out in the cold. Lana was a part of Clarks high school years, then she went away to college. They were together again at a later time but Lois had already made her impression on Clark. Then as the TV anchor and Clark the co anchor, if memory serves me, and I think it does, she had moved on having lost interest in pursuit of Clark as a love interest and they were only friends, so in a way Lana left Smallville only a tad early. It would have been nice if Kristin had wanted to stay, but she didn't, still the show goes on. I would have liked to see the Lana, Lois rivalry for Clark played out on Smallville. I think it would have added a new dimension to the show if it was well crafted giving Kristin and Erica comparable scripts. Still, the key is having a show that is entertaining, which I know Smallville doesn't appeal to everyone. I guess one has to have a certain outlook to remain interested in its progression.
Jag, which was one of the top rated shows on TV for ten years, from its origin to the very end, finished with only two of it starters, David James Elliot and Patrick Labyorteaux. Catherine Bell come on the scene the following year (1996) making her the third longest member. Actually she was there at the beginning for one episode as David's girl friend that was killed, but not as a regular cast member, but she made such an impression on the staff that when Tracey Needham left Catherine was immediately contacted and cast as Sarah MacKenzie, a perfect counter part for Harmon Rabb. There were many who fell along the wayside during the shows run. Still it actually finished extremely strong with only two of its character standing from beginning to end. It was scheduled for an eleventh season but ended at ten because David made a last minute decision not to return the following year sending the writers into a sudden frenzy rewriting the last few episodes concocting a sendoff suitable for the shows illustrious history. And they did just that. A truly great show from the first scene till the last clip slipped through the reel.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Lana, Lex, Lionel, Martha and I believe Jonathan are no longer around because the actors that play them choose to discontinue their run on the series... not because TPTB decided to leave the characters out in the cold...
These actors choose to leave... That just goes to show you how redundant this series got for these actors... and I can't blame them... the show doesn't seem to have ANY clear plans for an ending! Obivously, since even the original creators of the series decided to leave after TheCW didn't allow them to end the series after the 7th season, which was the original plan for Al and Miles!
Can you name me of a show where five of the original characters chose to leave, along with the original creators of the series?
Smallville should had ended when it was still at its high, now it's just one big joke.... from ex-viewers all way to the online media.

I am very aware that these people chose to leave on their own except for John Schnider. I do remember John saying he was surprised when he was told his character would be dying. I found it funny when he made the comment on a later interview that when they got the script and he saw that Lana was gong to die in an accident he thought at first that his planned death had been to a ruse to hide that Lana would be leaving, but alas it was Jonathan that was to depart.

How I understood it, was that John was disappointed with how the series was going so Almiles did him the favor of killing his character off... maybe John was surprised by how he was taken off the show, but he didn't go kicking and screaming over the turn of events...so I can only assume he was fine with his departure and was aware it was going to take place.

I don't know what did, or didn't transpire on set, but in the article he talked in a manner that he was caught completely off guard and not expecting it. Could have been either way. The article I read was shortly after his demise on Smallville, and true he didn't seem upset about leaving, just surprised that it was happening. He did say he was going to miss working with everyone. He had come to consider them as family. Not in those exact words, but very similar.

He was in several projects before Nip and Tuck. One of my favorites was Lake Placid 2. He did that shortly after leaving Smallville. I still haven't seen shark swarm, I missed it, but I will someday soon. As for Nip and Tuck, not my cup o tea.

No that is actually true and he actually did a informercial behind the fact that he was a day trader he was set. He knew what to do, he may have been suprised but I guess he was old enough to know that "things don`t last foreveand he had to move on". He got out smart! A person has to be smart in this business or swallowed up! My thing is in Lois and Clark they kept Johnathon around for while even in the cartoon. Like I said before can Tom Welling still fit the suit?

John Schneider is involved in several area's outside his movie career, but I was referring only to his role in Smallville in my previous posts. Trading is only one of his interests outside acting and music. He was financially flush long before he became involved with trading. Infomercials using celebrities is a means of selling more people to get involved so they will pay outlandish fees for books and classes that may, or may not pay off for them. Just because John is a savvy person and made a bundle trading doesn't mean everyone that tries the same process will have the same results, but those that sell the classes love to get someone of John's caliber to advertise for them. His name alone will influence many new subscribers.
John has been in the business long enough to know nothing is forever, and every job will last only as long as the writers, and producers want it too, or the audience for that matter. A job one day, gone the next. That is why smart actors always have backup plans to fall into when going through dry spells. In John's case there have been few times he wasn't busy. In fact he was set to start his next shoot almost immediately after his roll on Smallville came to a close.
bobby o - August 30, 2009 06:12 PM (GMT)
CherokeeKnight thats good! And thats what its really about having a backup plan just in case the well runs dry. The thing is we all want the best for everyone including actors and actresses however as an actor one you start making residuals you lose focus and all you want to do is live the bling lifestyle.
I can remember back in the day when I did voice-over work where I live at. I got paid handsomly but I lost it all becuase I didn`t know basic money management, and thats the thing some of these actors and actreseses they get caught believing that its going to go on forever but it does not. Thank mercy Kristin got out when she did so she could go on and make other projects. We hope that Tom Welling kept all of his money and he put back.
Cause he`s typed cast forever as being Superman. Even Dean Cain has had a really tough time being casted in roles.

On the other hand maybe it takes a certain intellectual level to maintain ones interest. As far as HBO and showtime, I don't need repetitive nudity to enhance my intelligence, or my interest, and that is both companies biggest draw. Has been for years. Fact is they show the same movies over and over and over and over and over and over....you get my drift.
OH, yeah, no offense taken.

 I`m sure it takes a lot of intelligence to still get interested in that show. It`s one of the smartest show on television right now,the story really complicated, and very very unpredictable, noone know what that Kent will turn out to be.
But while you`re watching, don`t think too hard Cherokee, dont want you to hurt youreself!
Have Fun on Friday Night! :yay:

You know what, you are quite right, But I don't need to think when I watch TV. That is my time to relax and let my mind rest. I just need something above the stumbling adolescence level to keep me awake.

I'm not going to watch the premiere :) No Kristin, nothing in it for me.
And yeah, they NEVER got that when she was on the show :P
bobby o - September 16, 2009 11:26 PM (GMT)
The first three or four episodes were Kristin Kreuk and Tom Welling. That`s when the show was fresh if she makes a guest appearance it could raised the ratings. Clark to me in my opinion should have became Superman two seasons ago it would have kept the storyline fresh. Our girl Kristin is doing her own thing now. Go Kristin!
