Its in your head
Loukianos Emilian worked at a bar, it was a bearable job that wasn’t complicated or outlandish. It wasn’t selling drugs, it wasn’t stealing. It was an honest enough job. He didn’t like it, but he liked it more than the other jobs he had attempted. He wasn’t a very social person. He made drinks and served them to people and ignored them and it went well enough. Luke could easily retire and have enough to live off of because of his power. But he didn’t. He was distrustful, worried of being caught

Tonight the music thumped with a heavy rhythm that irritated the male, he had hopes for peace and quiet, not the obnoxious noise. But beggars couldn’t be choosers. He had grown up a boy in he slums, an outcast and rejected by his family. A despised by his father. His family had been anything but functional ever. Just chaotic and loud. He had loved and cared for his sister, tried to do good for her. But he had failed so horribly. She had been a drug addict and a prostitute from thirteen on. She was his big sister. His flesh and blood. And he couldn’t help her.

He made and handed out drinks as people ordered for hours it felt. He had been the early shift. So when the manager came around and told him he could clock out Luke was more than happy to oblige. It wasn’t that he was in a mood to be more social. More he just needed a good few drinks. Or in his case one good drink that just wouldn’t run out till he wanted it too. So, before he left from behind the bar he made a drink. Once done Luke walked out to the bar stools on the other side, off in the corner of the shady club. Music pulsed as he started to sip on his mystery brew.

gimme sympathy,
I'll remember someday all the chances we took. we're so close to something better left unknown.

Many of the people within the Vindictam ranks were of the belief that Nataliya wasn't capable of being a girl. Not in the classic sense. She wasn't girly, she didn't often wear dresses and knit, or whatever the hell it was regular girls did, mostly because dressed got in the way while she was working. She was the girl that could beat up on the boys while still looking hot. She was the girl that you knew you didn't mess with. She was one of the boys for a lot of people, or the one they were too scared to hit on lest they face the wrath of her brother or father. She wasn't a girly-girl. They all joked and jibed and laughed, right up until she stepped out of "Vindictam Elite" mode and toned it down to "Average Old Nataliya" who looked and sounded like the Nataliya they knew so well but look a little… well… different. She let her hair down, she put on a dress or a skirt, she wore makeup and she scrubbed up pretty darn well. Nataliya was capable of looking smoking hot in a dress, and she wasn't afraid to remind them all.

There was usually an occasion though, a party or a job or the need to be someone's wing man. Tonight, though, there was nothing. Just a desire to get out and have some fun. So, ignoring all the comments and jokes at her expense, she left the family home that had, for so long, served as the headquarters of her father's group and found one of the slightly less crowded bars in the city. it did not take her long to find her way up to the bar, order a cosmopolitan and move away towards one of the tall tables just a little way away from the bustling bar, quite intent on enjoying her evening. right up until the moment some idiot who had clearly had too much to drink bumped into her, knocking her hand rather violently and splashing not only some of her cosmo but also some of his beer over her front. "Jesus!" Her eyes narrowed slightly at the man, flaring dangerously when, to make matter worse for him, he attempted to dab away the liquid from her torso. Immediately, the brunette smacked his hand away rather more violently that she had intended. "What the hell do you think you're doing. Get the hell off me!" Her reflexes snapped, her fist raised swiftly as if she intended to punch him, but, fortunately, she managed to stop herself before that happened. The girl knew better than to start fights in public places when it was not called for, she knew better than to use her abilities in the eye of the public. All that did was earn you a reputation you didn't need, or bullet through the skull at the hand of some eagle-eyed sniper perched on a rooftop.

The man's breathed stank of booze and bad breath and in an effort to get him away without landing a punch on his jaw, Nataliya pushed him roughly, ignoring his slurred propositions and crass remarks. His friends seemed to understand that Nataliya was not someone to be messed with, a formidable force when she was angered, and steered him away before she could do any real damage. with a roll of her pretty brown eyes and an exasperated huff, Nataliya moved to one of the tables closer to the wall, where fewer people were loitering and thus the chances of her punching someone were fare slimmer. Placing the glass down on the table with a clink, the girl grabbed the only napkin left on the table and wiped the alcohol from her hand and forearm before attempting to dab at her clothes with that already damp napkin. "Fucking asshole." Not only had he spilled her drink, but he may well have ruined her evening. Great.

I close my eyes

and just let it all fall in line
Loukianos scanned the crowed with his unnerving piercing blue eyes. They were beautiful, but some how they just had a way of making people feel on edge, uncomfortable. The kind of eyes that seemed to strip away the masks that people wore. He wasn’t under an illusion of what humanity was like. He knew their flaws. He knew them well. He also knew he was riddled with them. He was bitter, angry at the world for how his life had been. He wasn’t exactly proud of how he had made a living, now or before.

Before having been a drug dealer, living among the scum of the earth he knew he was one of the filth, the mud on the bottom of societies shoes. More so because of being different. Being superhuman. It had just been one hit after another growing up. It had made him hard and angry at the world. His father beat him until one day he had enough. He shouldn’t have been able to beat his father. But he had. Had beat the shit out of him. Him and his father fought like no tomorrow. Always clashing. But Luke had grown stronger. More than human strong.

He still could remember one time he had been bound and beaten. He had broken the bonds and ran to the kitchen. Not even thinking really. He had been, what? Fourteen. He had grabbed a knife and stabbed his father when as he came at him. His father had doubled over at the force and pain. He had stood there, watching as he died. Then turned and ran. Never looking back.

He had been taken in by a gang. He had lived like that. Slowly learning how to use and control his abilities. As time went on finally some things started to go better for him. His strongest ability had provided him food, water and money. So here he was. Sitting in a dark bar. He watched as a rather pretty brunette came over to the table, he had watched the buffoon of a man fumble around, so he knew why she was rather pissed off looking. A smirk was on his shadowed face. “Its disgusting how some vermin devolve so offensively when they drink. Pathetic.” He said with a slight hint of amusement, he had watched her stop herself from clocking the idiot “I have to say I would have rather enjoyed seeing you punch his nose into the back of his skull.

gimme sympathy,
I'll remember someday all the chances we took. we're so close to something better left unknown.

Sometimes the urge to use superhuman abilities in public was almost greater than the will to stay out of harms way and avoid being taken in for questioning by the police, being attacked by some random or being executed by government snipers. Sometimes, Nataliya just wanted to take the risk, to be herself and forget all the shit that could occur if she was discovered. Sometimes, people just deserved it. Had her desire for self preservation been any weaker, tonight would have been the night that Nataliya snapped. She just wanted to be left alone, just wanted to be able to enjoy her evening and not have to deal with some asshole who thought he was god's gift to women coming on to her. It was no surprise, then, that after having some halfwit get in her face, spill her drink and splash beer all over her, she was pissed.

So, when she heard some other guy speak, her immediate reaction was to roll her eyes and fire up. She didn't need this. And then, after she took a moment to actually listen, to process the words and she realised he wasn't just some other moron. He actually seemed to be of the same opinion as she was. After a moment, she turned to look at him and came to the conclusion that he didn't deserve to be on the receiving end of one of her slaps to cutting remarks. Handsome young men could generally get away with talking to her. At least for a while. As he finished speaking, Natliya laughed gently, shaking her head slightly. He was certainly correct. Alcohol had a way of turning men who may ordinarily be respectful into complete scoundrels.

"Oh, and you don't become a typical drunk idiot with wandering hands when you drink?" She asked, raising an eyebrow quizzically. Of course, she didn't know him, she didn't know what he was like, or how often or how much he tended to drink, but she wasn't actually accusing him of being a jerk. Nataliya wasn't the sort of girl who would bite her tongue, sit pretty and silent and watch her words just because she didn't know someone. She worked on the basis that, if a stranger couldn't handle her jokes, her teasing or her bluntness, they weren't worth knowing anyway.

She laughed then, betraying that she was simply teasing. "Next time I'll try not to disappoint. Although I pack a pretty mean punch, so it won't be pleasant to watch." Her fingers found her glass again, lifting it to her lips as she sipped at what remained of her drink. Ordinarily, she would have been conscious of the alcohol she could faintly smell on her clothes, self-conscious even, but in this case she knew that was uncalled for. He had clearly seen what had happened, and wasn't just going to assume she was some crazy drunk woman who spent half her life smelling of booze. Placing the glass back on the table's surface, Nataliya did what any well-mannered young woman would do; she held out her hand and introduced herself. "I'm Nataliya." Her surname was not mentioned, it never was on first meeting just because of those whispers about her father and what he might be involved in. It was not only for self-protection, but for the protection of her family, both biological and extended, too.

I close my eyes

and just let it all fall in line
If the young mand had a weakness it had to be brunettes. Not some doe eyed girl - what really hooked him where the spit fires- what can I say. The guy enjoyed a girl who was strong- maybe it stemed from him being sick and tired of the weak ones - the ones like his sister. She had been weak and emotional. Hell, she was his sister, he loved her. But he couldnt stand her, and he couldnt help her. That had been why he left her behind. It was sad, how completely her life revolved around drungs and drinking. Perhaps another reason he had such an adversion to drunk idiots. Another bad point about being a bartender - he had his familys weaknesses flaunted before him night after night. He grew tired of it. Only held here for a cover. He had a job so people didnt ask where his money came from. Really he let most of it pile up, He only needed the five hundred dollar bills he kept in his wallet- they never ran out. Shopping made easy.

He had his own place, it looked like a piece of shit on the outside. An old abandoned wearhouse with powerful electric fences and a pack of gaurd dogs-some nice dobermin. On the inside it was every bit as grand as a brand new custom mansion. Of course it had been worked on by him. It was huge- and empty. He didnt mind most days. Because it was peaceful and restful not having to deal with other human beings. He just didnt trust other people. Everyone had secrets, everyone lied-it was just the way the world ran. Didnt mean his own secrets didnt weight down on him

He gave a smirk at her comment, not taking it personal "What can I say. I know my limit. And anyways. Im allergic to stupid." he answered, his eyes fixing on hers. "Anyways. Only desperate men resort to wandering hands hoping for a floozy. I prefer women with class and worth." he had grown up with all the loose moraled women you could ever stand while he was in the gang. He wasnt exempt from having used loose worthless women before. He had hated that life before. Became disgusted and repulsed by the women. By the drugs. The partying. He was always one of those guys that was stone cold sober even after drinking lots of liqure. He just seemed immune to it almost. So when he left the gang, he had left behind his old way of living. Here he was five years later. His drastically different from that empty existance.

His lip twitched in the right corner of his mouth, pulling up into a lopsided smirk. "Good." he said with a slight chuckle, "and the meaner the punch the better. I love the dramatics, most men dont think a woman could turn them into a heap a pain, bleeding and pathetic sobbing. I am never disappointed by that. Idiots like that dont have no place in being called men. Rather brainless boys" He could have gotten up and kicked the idiot out. Technically he had been given the 'authority' to do that. He had proven he was strong and mean enough to be a bouncer. So when he was around the bar owner had said bounce away. But he rather stick around and talk with the woman.

He took her hand for the handshake. His grip firm, steady, but really it was light compared to what it could have been. His inhanced strength had cause problems in the past if he was worked up. But right now he was at ease, comfortable, and he actually didnt mind the company now. "Loukianos. But Lukes fine. It tends to be easier for most to remember" Why his mother gave him the greek name he wasnt sure. She had at one point had enjoyed reading about the greeks. But when she named her son, well. She hadnt chosen something common. Or known really. Then his last name was romanian. He didnt bother giving it. He never really used his last name. Only when it was required legally. "I'll buy you your next drink. What ever you want"

gimme sympathy,
I'll remember someday all the chances we took. we're so close to something better left unknown.

Despite herself, Nataliya laughed lightly at the young man's words, shaking her head slightly in amusement. "Well, I'm certainly glad to hear that!" After a moment, she leant towards him a little and lowered her voice slightly, as if she was afraid of being heard. [color=c79d8e][b]"I think you're likely to die at the hands of this allergy in a place like this. If you do, I'm just going to leave you here." Again, she was just joking. It was strangely nice to have a stranger to talk to, someone that she could joke with and tease without being told off for distracting one of the members of her fathers group from their duties or having people get offended and huffy and acting like a teenager. This guy had no expectations, no reason to laugh just because he didn't want her brother to give him a beat down or because he thought the boss was looking on. "I will warn you now, I am not a floozy and if you do decide to lower your standards I might have to break your hands." Again, she was joking, but there was a playful glint in her eyes, a glint that said that maybe, just maybe, she was just a little bit serious as well.

"You shouldn't encourage me, it took all my willpower not to clock that guy in the face when he spilled his drink all over me. If he comes near me again, I'll be entirely too tempted to punch him, just to avoid disappointing you all over again." She took another little sip from the remnants of her drink and then added, nonchalant little shrug of her shoulders, "Of course, when I'm kicked out for attacking the patrons and making a mess, I'll blame you. That's only fair." His handshake as they exchanged introductions surprised her, not the gesture itself but how firm it was. Usually people barely touched her, like they thought they break her hand in a million places if they touched her too firmly. Nataliya was not a peach, she did not bruise easily and she certainly was no china doll, so she appreciated the firmness of the gesture.

"Loukianos. Hmm." Nat repeated, tilting her head gently to the left, as if testing the name out on her lips Unlike many other uneducated locals, she had an appreciation of uncommon names. Who wanted to be named Frank or Joe or Katie, anyway? Everyone named their children something commonplace, something that meant that they would sit in a class with three other children who shared their name and the would be endless confusion until someone decided that they should be nicknames the short one, the fat one and the other one, or something just as ridiculous. Loukianos. It certainly was different, and Nataliya liked that. "That's nice. Greek, right?" She was only twenty-four, but the lady was educated, she and a good memory and she knew things other girls her age did not, a trait credited to the speed at which she had been forced to grow up.

She gave a chuckle then, and a knowing little smile. She understood the trouble people had with names. 'Nataliya' was not exactly hard, it wasn't a mouthful or full of strange letter combinations, and yet so many time she'd noted the wrong spelling, the wrong pronunciation. Perhaps it was the y that threw them. "Mmm, I know how that goes. I get Natalie more often than not. Most of my friends call me Nat, though. You're welcome to do so as well." Society had bred laziness and Nataliya was a whole four syllables, too much effort for the lazier members of society. And Nat was just easier in a tight spot. When you had a few seconds to warn someone that they were about to be made or that a target was unexpectedly armed four syllables was three too many. The only people who called her Nataliya these days were her father, her big brother and all the suck-ups that thought it was beneficial to play the social graces card, as if being super polite and unnecessarily respectful towards Nataliya would gain them some extra points from her father. The man wasn't royalty, he wasn't a king or a prince or a god so it amazed her that so many people lived in awe of him, and how many lived in fear. It was kind of creepy, but Nataliya suspected that the man enjoyed it. She quirked an eyebrow again as he offered to buy her next drink, a smile playing at her pretty lips. "Do you loiter in dark corners waiting to pounce and offer girls drinks all the time, or am I just lucky?"

some days

I cant even trust myself
His brilliant blue eyes examined her face in the bad lighting. Yes indeed she was his type as far as looks went. And he was intregued by her attitude, who wanted some little push over woman. Might as well just get yourself a slave. "It comes in handy" he said with a teasing lilt to his voice, "Hmmm. Good to know" he said chuckling now. He was amused by her. What can you say.

He listened to her next comment and where some might feel uncomfortable they just amused him greatly. Not to mention the fact she COULD break his hands... they would just heal right away. So those sorts of threats sounded on deaf ears. "I should hope so." he said in amusement. He laughed when she told him not to encourage her. "Hmm. Ill try not to encourage you" he grinned at her "Of course. Or I could do it for you. They wont say shit if I make a mess taking out some 'trash'" After all. He did work here.

"Greek, yes it is. Means light" he answered. It hadnt any special meaning really. Light... He didnt feel like it was appropriate for how he ended up being like. But what ever. Though his name was light he felt like darkness most the time. But still, he did like it better than Peter or Joe or some other usual name. It set him apart. He didnt mind that.

Nataliya. To him it sounded similar to the usual english name, but the spelling and sound gave it a hebrew feel to him. He wasnt sure if it actually was. "I think I could remember Nataliya. Unless you do have a preferance to what people call you" he said sitting back more in his chair while taking a swig of his beverage. He wasnt some spoiled highly educated bastard, but he wasnt some stupid guy either. He had his smarts about him.

He took another drink. By now his drink should have run out. But thanks to the infinity effect his drink didnt appear to be touched. The bad lighting and dark glass helped hide that at least. "Your just lucky" he said, his mouth twitched into a slight smirk. It was true. Usually he paid no mind to anyone who came by.

TAG: NATALIYA - (: ---->Sorry. So much going on. My moms real sick and had to go to the hospital and all that awful crap. So. Ugh. Sorry if the post is lacking xD
