DOESN'T IT FEEL A LITTLE LIKE GRACE

24 - 26, furley tech lab technician, human.

first things first - i'm one of those people who likes to leave her requests relatively open so that people can make the character their own and i love collaboration, so don't be afraid to throw your opinions and ideas into the mix if this young man takes your attention! now, i'm not setting his name, because that's totally up to you, so for the sake of clarity we're gonna call this young man darren for now, because my preferred playby is the fabulous darren criss (this is negotiable if you want <3). darren has been working as a lab technician at furley tech for about two years now and is a very intelligent and hard-working man. for those two years, he was completely unaware of what furley tech did to the superhumans in their 'care'. as far as he knew, the samples he tested and analysed were gained from willing participants and he knew nothing of what really went on down in the bowels of the company, in the testing labs and holding cells that were kept so secure. about two months ago, however, because he was noted as being a valuable and diligent member of the team, he was promoted, given access to the testing labs and the holding cells and directed to assist one of the senior scientists with their research. that was the first time he'd been to one of the holding cells, the first time he'd had a glimpse into the grungy, dark side of the company, and the first time he met charlotte.

it was the sort of chemistry that people believe only exists in the movieverse. there was something about him, in that first meeting, that made charlotte think she could trust him and there was something about her that captivated him. for the first two or three weeks, they didn't speak to each other, darren biting his tongue to preserve his job until he could work through his own disgust with the system and come to terms with everything he had seen and charlotte too scared to speak out of turn while his mentor was around, and the man always seemed to be hovering. fortunately, however, about three weeks after he was promoted, darren was sent to charlotte's cell with a clipboard of questions and tests which was soon forgotten. he introduced himself, he came close to her cell, he treated her like a human being, like an equal. for the first time in almost two years, he asked her name. in the following few weeks, they got to know each other, they struck up a friendship and they quickly learned to trust each other. darren wasn't afraid of charlotte and charlotte soon came to understand that she could trust him in return. on more than on occasion, darren has allowed charlotte to leave her cell, to sit with him outside of her little prison. he's allowed her to get close to him without some sort of restraint and calls her charlotte rather than 628, when they're alone, of course.

i don't want to set anything in stone, of course, because i want your ideas and for you to be able to go wherever you want when you create him, but my original idea was that these two have quickly developed a certain affection for each other. maybe darren visits her at all opportunities and does what he can to stay his mentor's hand when it comes to the superhumans held in the cells at furley tech, particularly charlotte. i don't think he'd like his job now, knowing what happens to charlotte and her peers, but doesn't leave because he doesn't want to leave charlotte at their mercy. he knows what happens to the superhumans that have fulfilled their purpose and he wouldn't want that for charlotte. he is the only person that charlotte trusts these days, the only person she's not currently afraid of and the person who keeps her spirits up on particularly bad days. i imagine them as futures, and perhaps darren can find a way to get charlotte out of the clutches of furley tech before they decide to dispose of her. she has one ability - her psionic blasts - which has not manifested itself yet, and she needs a stressful, potentially dangerous situation in which it can, so maybe that's something we can play with <3 but basically, these two would be secret friends, possibly feeling something a little deeper for each other due to the chemistry between them and he might even be her knight in shining armour. it's a plot that has a lot of potential and that we can take pretty much anywhere, so don't be afraid to share ideas with me. take him and you will be my hero for eternity <333
