yuki sohma SEVENTEEN. THE RAT. OUJI. Yuki Sohma is the Rat of the Chinese Zodiac. Known to his classmates as 'Prince Yuki' or 'Prince Charming', Yuki is seen by others as this beautiful being. Yuki, however, is incredibly insecure. He hates his girly looks, does not know how to interact with other people and constantly feels insignificant. In spite of this, Yuki maintains a calm, collected attitude most of the time, rarely getting mad or upset. He is very formal and kind in how he speaks to those around him. Yuki is in love with Usagi, the wolf, and has been for years. Unfortunately, his fan club does not seem to be too happy about the fact their "prince" has been "seduced" by another witch besides Tohru.	haru sohma SIXTEEN. THE OX. OPEN. Hatsuharu "Haru" Sohma is the ox in the Zodiac. He is one year younger than Yuki, Kyo and Tohru. He is currently attending the same high school as Yuki, Kyo and Tohru. He was constantly made fun of because of his natural black and white hair due to the influence of the Ox spirit that possesses him. Haru has developed a "black" side, which is much darker and more violent than Haru's usually calm demeanor. Haru is in love with Rin Sohma, the horse.	kisa sohma THIRTEEN. THE TIGER. KAY. Kisa Sohma is the Zodiac representative for the Tiger. She is initially shy and reserved, but began opening up to others when Tohru Honda consoled her. Kisa was tormented by the other children in her class because of the color of her hair and eyes, and whenever she tried to speak they would laugh at her, causing her to become mute. Haru Sohma found her when she did not return home from school, in her tiger form, where she met Tohru for the first time. She is in love with Hiro Sohma, the Ram. Kisa looks up to Tohru Honda and Usagi Sohma as older sister figures, calling them 'onee-chan' when referring to them.	momiji sohma SIXTEEN. THE RABBIT. KIM. Momiji Sohma is possessed by the rabbit of the Zodiac. Momiji appears to be the most child-like in the series. Tohru Honda mistakes Momiji of being a student about to enter middle school in the spring when he was really about to enter high school. Tohru also compares Momiji and Hatsuharu in her mind when she realizes that Momiji is actually the same age as Hatsuharu and that they are both one year younger than Yuki and Kyo. Tohru compares their height and maturity level and is convinced that they are completely different from what she thought. In the spring, Momiji and Hatsuharu are expected to attending the same high school as Tohru, Kyo and Yuki.

hatori sohma TWENTY-SEVEN. THE DRAGON. OPEN. Hatori Sohma is the Sohma family's personal doctor. He is the only known Living Sohma family member with the ability to use the 'memory supression' technique. (A form of hypnosis used by the Sohmas to supress the memories of those who discover their curse.) Hatori is also the dragon of the Chinese zodiac. Hatori was in love with Kana Sohma, but he was blinded in one eye by Akito when he found out about the love affair. Kana closed herself off from Hatori and blamed herself for his injury, and Hatori was forced to suppress her memories to relieve her sorrow.	ayame sohma TWENTY-SEVEN. THE SNAKE. OPEN. Ayame Sohma is the biological older brother of Yuki Sohma. He is possessed by the Snake of the Zodiac. Ayame is best friends with Hatori Sohma and Shigure Sohma, and the three of them make up the Mabudachi Trio. Unlike his brother, Ayame is rather loud and flamboyant and owns a costume shop. Ayame is in love with his assistant, Mine Kuramae.	rin sohma EIGHTEEN. THE HORSE. BRITT. Isuzu "Rin" Sohmais an only child and a member of the Sohma clan, transforming into the horse of the Chinese Zodiac. Her nickname is 'Rin', because 'suzu' translates to 'small bell' in Japanese, and 'rin' resembles the sound a small bell makes. 'Isuzu' is also a rare name. When written as two Kanji characters, it means 'Dependable Bell', which many consider to represent Isuzu's personality and appearance quite well. Rin has been in love with Haru Sohma for years and the two of them have had an on/off relationship for a long time.	hiro sohma FOURTEEN. THE RAM. CHRISTINA. Hiro Sohma is the Ram of the Zodiac. He is in middle school, with Kisa, and is exceedingly good at making sarcastic comments and complaining, but will get very shy and timid once around Kisa. He dislikes Momiji Sohma's hyper and carefree disposition. He despises Tohru a little because she 'attracts' Kisa to her, taking time away for him to spend with Kisa alone. He is also very loving towards Kisa and gets very overprotective of Kisa from time to time.

ritsu sohma TWENTY-TWO. THE MONKEY. OPEN. Ritsu Sohma is the Monkey of the Zodiac. Extremely apologetic, he takes after his mother, the hostess of the Sohma family's onsen, whose position he is in training to take over. Most Sohmas call him "Ri-chan" and, to Shigure's amusement, Tohru calls him "Ri-chan-san". Whenever Ritsu senses someone is uncomfortable or if there is an awkward situation, Ritsu has been known to scream his apologies to the world and proceed to freak out. The only way to calm him (according to Shigure) is to poke him in just the right place in his side so that he topples to the floor.	kureno sohma TWENTY-FIVE. THE ROOSTER. OPEN. Kureno Sohma is the former rooster of the zodiac whose curse had been broken when he was around Tohru Honda's age. Despite being freed, he said he missed being able to fly, as he usually transformed into a sparrow. Kureno is in love with Arisa Uotani.	shigure sohma TWENTY-SEVEN. THE DOG. OPEN/WANTED. Shigure Sohma is the Dog of the Zodiac. He transforms into the Dog of the Chinese Zodiac whenever he is hugged by the opposite gender or his body comes under a great deal of stress. Shigure is the eldest member of the Zodiac and a novelist. He drives his editor nuts by running away or procrastinating whenever he has a deadline. Shigure is in love with Akito Sohma, the god of the Zodiac.	kagura sohma NINETEEN. THE BOAR. OPEN. Kagura Sohma is the Boar of the Chinese Zodiac. She suggests that Kyo is her fiancee', and that when she and he were young, he asked her to marry him. Kyo argues that it was only because she threatened him. Kagura is in an one-sided love relationship with Kyo and is stubborn to realize that Kyo doesn't love her the way she does towards him.

kyo sohma SEVENTEEN. THE CAT. OPEN Kyo Sohma is cursed by the spirit of the cat of the zodiac. He transforms into an orange cat whenever he is hugged by a member of the opposite gender or if he is under a great deal of stress. The cat is not an animal in the Chinese Zodiac, but legend has it that the cat may have been included had the rat not tricked it. This may be the reason that he and Yuki Sohma (the rat) do not get along well. However, it is said that Kyo had made a deal with Akito Sohma that if he could beat Yuki, he would not be confined to the Cat's Room. Kyo recently was forced to reveal his true form to Tohru, but was surprised when she accepted him for who he was. Kyo has fallen in love with Tohru and has vowed to protect her like he promised her mother he would when he was young.	usagi sohma SEVENTEEN. THE WOLF. CHRISTINA. Usagi Sohma is cursed by the spirit of the wolf. She transforms into a large black wolf whenever she is caught by surprise by the opposite sex (even if she is surprised by a Sohma). The wolf is not an animal in the Chinese Zodiac, but the many spirits of animals in nature have chosen Sohma family members to possess. The wolf and the rat have been in love for years now, since they were children, and Usagi has only recently returned to the Sohma clan after her memories were suppressed by Hatori years earlier. After she was sent away, she went to live with Tohru Honda, only to leave at the age of thirteen and go to find herself. THE FOX. RIN. Masahiro Sohma is the cunning and mischievous teenager who is cursed with the spirit of the fox. Like members of the original zodiac, he transforms into a fox whenever he is hugged by a member of the opposite sex or when he is under a great deal of stress, unlike members of the zodiac, he may also transform when he suffers a great deal of pain both physically and emotionally. This may be the reason as to why Masa has taken on a more nonchalant attitude when it comes to interacting with others. With the death of his twin brother and the rejection of his parents, Masa's life is a lonely one and void of the emotion people call 'love'. He's often used by his parents to gain more money for their company and is so badly 'broken' that he cannot recognize what emotions such as kindness or love is. Masa is also always rebelling against the rules of Sohma which often cause mayhem for those within the main Sohma household. He's the type to do as he pleases and accepts the consequences that comes with it. He despises Tohru Honda and Kyo Sohma.

mamoru sohma FIFTEEN. THE LION. OPEN. Mamoru Sohma is cursed with the spirit of the lion. He is the biological younger brother of Usagi Sohma, who he had not seen since he was six years old. Mamoru lives in the inner Sohma house, with Akito, and very rarely gets to see his relatives. Only recently has he started developing a rebellious streak, taking the opportunity to run from Akito's rule and go looking for his sister. His parents had no choice but to surrender their youngest to the head of the family, and when he runs he hides at home with his mother. He started hearing rumors about Tohru Honda and how she knew about the curse, so he went to seek her out. On the way, he came upon his sister at Shigure's house, only to have her not recognize him. Usagi has since developed a nice little protective streak over her brother-whether she realizes it or not-and that prompted him to come back and watch her from afar. Unfortunately, Akito is starting to figure out where her playmate has run off to.	akira sohma EIGHTEEN. THE TURTLE. OPEN. Ever heard the story of the tortoise and the hair? Well, here's the turtle. Momiji is seen as the rabbit due to his zodiac form, and Akira has been known to trick the rabbit into doing whatever she wanted. She is very smart, like her animal counterpart, and since she is more worldly and can understand things better than Momiji can, it's pretty easy to trick the naive rabbit into doing what she wants. Along the way, Akira has fallen for Momiji, but she does not act upon it directly. She shows her affection by messing with the rabbit and having some fun with him from time to time.	----- sohma AGE. THE OWL. LOUISE. Natsume Sohma is cursed with the spirit of an owl. Throughout her young life she has displayed many qualities often associated with the owl, stealth, wisdom and dignity. She lived with her parents until her father died and her mother blamed her for his death.	osamu sohma FIFTEEN. THE STAG. OPEN. Osamu Sohma is cursed with the spirit of the stag. He is the younger brother of Usagi Sohma, the older twin brother of Mamoru Sohma, the lion, and he is the complete opposite of his brother. Skilled in martial arts, the boy is very advanced for his age in discipline, and he chooses to ignore Akito and her wishes as much as he can. He is very protective of his twin, despite the fact that he does not see Mamoru very often anymore, but he senses something is wrong. Something terrible is going on behind those closed doors, and even though Osamu has only heard rumors of what was going on in the inner house, he still goes against Akito's wishes and he spites her just to piss her off. He refuses to seek out Usagi, wanting to give his sister space, but if something happens to Mamoru he may not have a choice.	akito sohma TWENTIES. THE GOD. MAIE. Akito is the head of the Sohma clan and is shrouded in mystery. She is feared and respected by many members of the Sohma clan. Only 4 members of the zodiac know that he is in fact a woman, raised as a man by the wishes of her mother Ren Sohma.She falls sickly often, and is constantly told by Hatori Sohma that she is to remain in her bed. Many see Akito fearful and strong, but she is actually a scared child-like figure that can't do anything but hurt and command others. Akito is the reason why Hatori is blind in one eye, why Hiro is terrified of telling Kisa how he feels, and why Yuki has various scars along his body. Akito has been known to physically injure someone who doesn't keep her in the loop about things, and demands control over the situation at all times. Yuki Sohma was sold to her by his parents at a young age, where she kept him locked away in a dark room for four years, torturing him for her own entertainment. Yuki was taken from her by her lover, Shigure, and now she has taken in a new pet. Mamoru Sohma was not one of her zodiac animals, but he would do for now. She still wants Yuki back, and she doesn't plan on waiting too much longer. She wants to lock away Kyo and imprison her zodiac in the inner Sohma house with her forever. Recently, she has noticed Mamoru disappearing and running off, and she followed him one day to find he was watching Shigure's house from afar. From there, she put two and two together and started locking him away in that dark room she kept Yuki all those years ago.

tohru honda SEVENTEEN. THE HEROINE. BRITNY She is the only daughter of Kyoko Honda and Katsuya Honda, both of whom are deceased. She moves into the house with Shigure Sohma, Yuki Sohma and later Kyo Sohma after Yuki and Shigure discovered her living in a tent on their property. She worked part-time to support herself when she was living on her own, and continues to despite moving to Shigure's house. Her two best friends are Arisa Uotani and Saki Hanajima. Tohru is very grateful to the Sohmas and loves every bit of time she spends with them. Tohru is the adoptive sister of Usagi Sohma, who she looks up to and loves dearly.	saki hanajima SEVENTEEN. THE PSYCHIC. OPEN. Saki Hanajima is one of the best friends of Tohru Honda and Arisa Uotani. She is Megumi Hanajima's older sister; they both have special abilities. Kyo Sohma and Yuki Sohma consider her to be creepy and spooky, and she gives off the image of a gothic girl, for she wears only black and says things of the dark nature. She says her black clothing and black nails are proof to herself that she is a sinner. Her significant other is Kazuma Sohma, Kyo's adoptive father, which makes her his adoptive mother, in a way.	arisa uotani SEVENTEEN. THE YANKEE. BRITT. Arisa Uotani is Tohru Honda's, Saki Hanajima's, Kyo Sohma's, and Yuki Sohma's classmate at Kaibara High. She is called a "Yankee" by the Prince Yuki Fan Club, and "Ane-san" a girl in a trio of former delinquents. Arisa is in love with Kureno Sohma, the former rooster of the zodiac, but he is attached to Akito for many reasons.	---- honda SIXTIES. TOHRU'S GRANDPA. OPEN. Tohru's Grandfather is from her paternal side. He is a kind-hearted man. He admitted that he did not have a very good relationship with Katsuya until Kyoko came into his life. He is understanding when it came to Tohru coming to live with him after the renovations were done. He understood that Tohru missed the Sohmas and that she wasn't happy living under his roof but he was still loved by Tohru. He is also very tolerant when it comes to his family when his daughter, his son-in-law and their daughter come live with him and they are always noisy, mean and suspicious of others as when the aunt did a detective search on Tohru.

ren sohma AGE. AKITO'S MOTHER. OPEN. Ren Sohma is Akito Sohma's mother, and Akira Sohma's wife. She is, to quote Kureno Sohma, "a little ill, both physically and mentally." Ren is a strong women who loved her husband with all her heart but she felt rejected after giving birth to Akito. She hates Akito and will do anything to get or see Akito cry. Ren told Shigure that Akito and Kureno were in a sexual relationship and that he should get back at her for doing that to him, so Ren has had a sexual relation with Shigure Sohma, which resulted in Shigure getting kicked out of the main house by Akito.	mine kuramae TWENTIES. AYAME'S ASSISTANT. OPEN. Mine works for Ayame as a seamstress in his costume shop. It is hinted at that she knows of the zodiac curse. She lives in an apartment above the store. She is shown to be a cheerful, kind and enthusiastic woman that Natsuki Takaya describes her as "an amazing person" to be able to keep up with Ayame. Whenever she sees a cute girl she instantly has to dress her up. Mine has a brown hair and eyes. She keeps her hair in two braids and rests it on her shoulder. She also wears eyeglasses. Tohru Honda once asked if her maid costume is her uniform in Ayame Sohma's shop, but said that she just wants to wear it since it's cute. She is in love with Ayame Sohma.	kakeru manabe SIXTEEN. VICE PRESIDENT. OPEN Kakeru Manabe is the vice-president of the student council, working under Yuki Sohma. He is Machi Kuragi's older half-brother. At first, Yuki didn`t like Kakeru at all, since he called Yuki a girl. Kakeru is very laid-back and cheerful, always looking for a laugh. He is convinced that the student council is 'The Campus Defense Force, protecting students from the forces of evil'. Yuki can`t believe he can say that with straight face, and compares Kakeru to his older brother, Ayame.	mitsuru lastname TWENTY-ONE. SHIGURE'S EDITOR. OPEN. Mitsuru, or commonly known as Mitchan, is Shigure Sohma's editor, and a big object of his teasing. She goes insane when Shigure disappears right before his deadlines (which he does on a regular basis), and writes suicide notes on his front steps. She has also threatened to kill herself while kneeling on his front porch. Before she had found out that Shigure likes to play with her, she found him quite "handsome and attractive". Now, she describes him as "a devil floating in the sea on a boat, disguised as a human". Mitsuru met Ritsu Sohma when yelling at Shigure and instantly fell for him.

motoko minagawa EIGHTEEN. PRINCE YUKI FAN CLUB PRESIDENT. OPEN Motoko Minagawa is the 3rd year president of the Prince Yuki Fan Club. Her family runs a vegetable shop, but she doesn't really help out. She once raided Hanajima's house with three of her followers, looking for a weakness in her so she could get to Tohru to "protect" Yuki, but her visit was unsuccessful. She has a rocky relationship with her old mother. She often writes poetry about her love for Yuki Sohma; she considers Tohru Honda a witch, Arisa Uotani a Yankee, and Saki Hanajima a demon. She also thinks all the rest of the members of the Prince Yuki Fan Club are evil and cruel, and she hates them, but considers herself the most evil, cruel and hated one. She has been able to find her own happiness after confessing to Yuki.	minami kinoshita SEVENTEEN. PRINCE YUKI FAN CLUB VICE PRESIDENT. OPEN. Minami is a member of the Prince Yuki Fan Club , born to the year of the tiger and adores Yuki Sohma. She has been a subject of Saki Hanajima's waves, and has a fierce temper. She is first seen demanding to know why Tohru Honda was seen walking with Yuki Sohma, with her fellow Prince Yuki Fan Club members standing at the side, agreeing with her. They leave, however, when Arisa Uotani and Saki Hanajima arrive, with Arisa threatening with her "gangster body" and Saki preparing to use her electro-poison waves. When Tohru walks home with Yuki once again, Minami and her friends are seen hiding, telling her, "Don't get a swelled head!"	kazuma sohma FOURTIES. KYO'S ADOPTIVE FATHER. OPEN. Kazuma Sohma is a master of martial arts who runs a dojo near the Sohma family compound, where he teaches several of the younger Sohmas, including Kyo Sohma, Kagura Sohma, Yuki Sohma, and Hatsuharu Sohma. He is usually addressed as Shishou, meaning "Master".His daily routine is taken care of by his assistant at the dojo, Kunimitsu Tomoda. When he was a child, during their only meeting, Kazuma was mean to his grandfather simply because his grandfather was cursed by the cat. Once, when he was still a child, his grandfather offered him a candy but he rejected it, saying it is cursed. To make amends, after Kyo's mother died, he took in and raised Kyo, the current cat, as his foster son, and has come to think of him as his own son.
