It probably means the server people are doing something.

Nope. Odd, I haven't been informed of any maintenance work on the server.
My other sites are unavailable as well, so it's not confined the HoA.

I'll email the server support folks, but I'm heading out of town in a couple of hours, so it might be over before I can actually read the answer. I'll try and keep you guys posted, though.

I guess I must have missed it, because I'm logged in right now and I never had any trouble (thought I didn't try yesterday).

It looks like HoA is currently unavailable; heroesofardania.net returns "Service Unavailable". Is the long-awaited reset occurring, or is it a glitch?

Yep, a glitch. Probably some maintenance work on the server or something. Should be gone soon.

Oddly, I tried pinging heroesofardania.net while at work and got 1 to 2 ms response times. I work in an office in one of the towers at the Galleria mall in Dallas, Texas. I'd think that the HoA servers would have to be within a few blocks of where I work in order for the response times to be so low. Anyone know who runs the HoA servers?

Not familiar with FF, but maybe clear the cache/refresh?

Yep, should be OK. Server folks informed me it was an IIS application crash. I also learned that I can fix it myself by restarting the app (though note that there might be other things that cause this error that I can't address myself).

For future reference, unless the error page shows the HoA logo (as is the case with the Site Construction Gnomes), it can be assumed that the problem lies with the server, rather than HoA, and thus likely to be out of our hands.

Daffydd: the hosting is provided by Ezboxx Ltd. I believe the servers are located in Dallas, TX like you suspected, though I don't have anything more specific.
