Everyone knows that Majesty 2 will be released relatively soon (we hope) and the beta testing will start in a few days.
I have a question - are you going to create new version of HoA to represent Majesty 2 mechanics and world? Or should I put it like that - do you want to give it a shot? Depending on your answer I can contribute somehow but I want to hear your opinions first. Thanks, Dako. -------------------- Different but worse isn't better, better is better.

We talked about it when we heard Maj2 was first coming out, but I can't remember what we decided... I think we'll take a look at what it has to offer, but seeing as how HoA is set after Majesty and the expansion, it's kind of in its own world anyway so it shouldn't impact us much.

Lol. Like D&D when it changed from 3.5E to 4E.

I'm like 80% sure that I will have beta-access and will be able to give some really fresh intel about the game so it might help. Also, I might be able (but I doubt) to convince developers to share some ingame formulas and mechanics with us.
Anyway - HoA is more of a stand-alone game and Maj2 won't impact it much because it's plot has the setting in the future of the kingdom and the only way is to create something new from scratch rather then update existing one which is meaningless. -------------------- Different but worse isn't better, better is better.

The whole perspective of HoA is separate from the Majesty games (RPG vs. Sim).
That said, I'm sure events in M2 will help inspire future developments in HoA -------------------- Me?

Well, I hope so too, but unfortunately you don't accept new developers right now (or it is just me...) so I was hoping to see and participate (again, maybe) in HoA v2. with some new cool technologies.
Maybe we could add some time travelling there like certain quest when you get into the future and deal with some things there. Ahhh, dreams dreams -------------------- Different but worse isn't better, better is better.

Or we could go back in-time to pre quest-completion. I'd like a whack at a couple of the Majesty quests.

Yes, like to make a pre-quest why axe of covenant and sword of true valour were broken. Or to see how Venn ended at his spire.... God, you can spin off nearly any of the quest in HoA and I have plenty ideas for new ones

It's not just you, we'e not accepting any new devs right now
Well, we *do* have a couple of Majesty quests in, like Battle of the Plains. Rehashing old quests has been on the backburner, but I think we'd rather see "fresh" and new quests for HoA than old ones, since we'd have to adjust them for the type of game HoA is rather than the sim game Majesty is. -------------------- Thwip!

Well, MFKS quests are fine, if they just have a proper spin to it to fit them into the HoA world, that is set way after the MFKS events (like the book, bell and candle are stolen again or something like that).

How much of the gameplay mechanics have been changed in Maj2?

Most of the mechanics chandes concerned strategic part of the game - lords, magic places for temples, parties, flag of fear/defence, spell learning, hero atitude, changing look as hero levels up and change equipment, PvP side, ability to build all the temples together, hero upgrade to templar class.
As for the world of Ardania - it is in the future time now, they changed elves and solarus chars, got rid of gnomes, added few new ones. So most of the things have the same base but they did a great twist with strategic and visual parts. I don't have any precise info until I can get my hands on the beta copy of the game, so this is what was unnounced/leaked on the official site and forums. About the quests - it is the best not to rehash the MFKS quests but add some new ones that somehow connects to MFKS quests or the world itself. HoA is not just about gathering all MFKS missions together and differ them a bit so heroes can evlove and fight stronger monsters. It's more about making some plot and living in the world itself. Finding new pieces of long ago forgotten stories and so on. -------------------- Different but worse isn't better, better is better.

You know, we could just rename the forums Val Ferrier's Tavern, and that pretty much satisfies every part of "living in the world of MFKS"

But you don't look to satisfy MFKS fans at all. HoA just borrowed the world and basic elements from the game. The story itself is far more different.

I disagree of course.
TS (himself a Majesty fan), created this game in 2002 with the sole intent of making a RPG based on MFKS. When the game was revived in 2005, Falotar was part of the development team (FYI he's the undisputed sage of majesty lore) and the HoA story elements stemmed from the Majesty lore (It's unfortunate that he's not here anymore because in his absence some of that authenticity was lost). I can site the example of Lormidia (I oversaw the construction), as a city based entirely on Majesty lore. -------------------- Me?
