Two of my doctors have differing opinions on Neurontin dosage. One says 900 mg/day and the other says 2700 mg/day. This seems like a big disparity. I plan on asking the doctors to confer, but was wondering if anyone was on this medication and would be willing to share what dosage was helpful.

I was on it but no longer am. My dosage was 900 mg/day. Over the course of several weeks I weaned myself off. This is a drug that you should not just stop taking and it takes a week or two to become titrated into your system.
2700 a day seems plenty high to me, unless your pain and symptoms are severe. I would be asking lots of questions of the Dr. wanting that dosage. Like how long does he/she think you would be at that level. And I'd keep a close eye on the side effects at that dosage as well. Withdrawing from Neurontin (gabapentin) can have side effects as well. |
