Remus had most definitely not wanted to come to this. He could make a book of all the things he would rather be doing instead of taking a day trip to London for some ministry party. Wasn't this all political as well? For someone to gain favoritism for the seat of being Minister of Magic? That's what it was, now that the boy thought about it more. While Remus tried his best to keep up on the politics outside of school, it wasn't his favorite subject. Their was no honesty and humanity when it came to running for office and now they were getting students involved. He was surprised that Dumbledore had allowed the entire school out for a day to even come to this. Especially with everything that was going on in the world today. What if there was an attack? Whatever, he's sure that the old man wouldn't have let them come if he thought there was a chance of the students getting hurt.

He sighed rather loudly, banishing the thoughts that didn't even matter anymore to the back of his mind and continued forward in unhurried steps. Lips settling into a kind, easy curve as he walked through the doors. He'd already lost James and Sirius and Merlin knows where Peter got off to. Which left Remus by himself, wandering around as he normally did a long the outskirts of the hall, mildly interested in the people he passed by. He just needed to find a safe spot for the night and bunker down until it was time to go. He realized it would be extremely easy as well. Besides, he was the tactful one out of the group. If he couldn't figure out how to stay out of sight then they were all screwed.

He gripped the hand rail of the staircase that led down into the main dining area, eyes scanning the area. Something felt off. Really off, but he couldn't quite pin what it was. It seemed everybody had started coupling off and if not just that, they were making out in front of everybody. Remus couldn't help but be a little shocked by their open displays of affection, sure he'd kissed a few girls but never had he full on snogged in front of a crowd of people. Where was the common courtesy?

He made slow steps down the staircase, dipping off to the right until he made his way towards the buffet table that had been set out. Food reappearing as the dishes were emptied. He took his own glass of punch, taking a sip before turning around and heading for a table. But he stopped. The slender frame of a gorgeous girl catching his eye almost immediately and he almost felt bad for staring despite not being able to help it. She was...Remus swallowed a little harder than he had intended and slowly made his way towards her. "Libby.." He called out, that easy smile forming again as he stopped when he was close enough to speak normally. "You look astonishing tonight. Well, all the time actually. I can't believe I've never told you that before and the fact that I'm in love with you." He gave an apologetic smile, as if expecting she was waiting for some sort of explanation from him. "Would you care for a drink or do you need anything? I'd be happy to do it for you." He looked at her expectantly. It would suck if she actually asked him to go and get her something, Remus didn't want to ever leave her side again.

Libby Selwyn wasn't the type of girl to say no to a party unless it was being hosted by the Hogwarts Garden club or something else equally lame and pathetic. Even then she might still go if they were providing alcohol (which they probably wouldn't be). But there would be plenty of booze and food at this party as well as a chance to get all dolled up so of course she was going to bloody go. Her escort to all these sorts of events was his older brother because it was just easiest that way. It was someone she could easily leave without having to feel bad about it which was important to a person who was constantly distracted by any new shiny thing that walked by.

Once they got there, Libby went straight for the food. She was going to need something in her stomach to compensate for the copious amount of alcohol she intended to drink that evening. She went straight for the pasta which she heard was one of the best things to eat before a night of partying. There were so many choices that she was able to load up her plate with four different kinds. Why couldn't she have meals like this at home? The line for the punch was way too fucking long so she just ordered a glass of Firewhiskey which took her a tenth of the time waiting in line for punch would have taken. When trying to find a table she spotted her parents and quickly spun around heading off in the opposite direction. It wasn't that she didn't love her mum and dad or anything, she was just a teenager who didn't want to hang out with them at a party. Or for them to see her getting shitty in public.

She ended up leaning against the wall and watching the show in front of her. Kirley and Lottie were all over each other and it was fucking hilarious. Little Miss Priss with the stick up her ass was having fun and all over a Halfblood. In front of everyone. Libby had no personal issues with it but she knew that Lottie's crowd sure as hell would. She scanned the crowds looking for either Malfoy or Montague sure that their reactions would be hilarious. Unfortunately, they were nowhere to be seen. Having eaten as much as she could and now bored with the entertainment, she wandered off after setting her half empty plate at a random table for someone else to clean up.

She continued walking forward, taking a drink from her glass and looking for someone fun, when she heard her name being called. She whirled around to see who it was and was more than a little surprised to see Lupin smiling at her like that. He was hardly an assertive person nor did they really talk outside of the classroom. Truth be told she mainly spoke to him these days because she found his shyness and stammering to be absolutely hysterical. Though it was kind of weird for Remus to say something like that she smiled anyways, accepting the praise. She was about to thank him but then he kept going. Oh Merlin, he was in love with her? Well that explained why he was so awkward around her. She'd always just assumed he was that way around any pretty girl that gave him attention. She laughed, "Aw, Remus, that's actually kinda cute," she replied. She had no feelings for him like that but that didn't mean she didn't appreciate the attention. There probably were a thousand better ways to respond but she was a fan of just going with her gut. When he asked if he could get her a drink, she looked down at her own. It was getting a little empty and he did offer so she quickly downed the rest and accepted, "Sure. Firewhiskey, please," she said with a smile and extended her empty glass to him.
