These are the rules of Role Playing in the world of Gotham Nights Please look over them carefully if you don't follow these rules; you will not like the consequences.

• Activity ~ All members are required to post in character at least once every two weeks with every character that they role play at Gotham Nights except when on an extended leave.
  
• Quality ~ Each time a member posts in character they are expected to provide their fellow role players with a post of quality. This means at least a paragraph post. Also spelling and grammar do not have to be exactly correct, just as long as what you’re saying is understandable. Posts must be at least fifty words long (this does not count for the OOC sections of the site).
  
• Leaving for a long period of time ~ Any member who is going to be unable to post in character for more than two weeks should make sure to note that he/she will be unable to continue the game for an estimated amount of time. Please think of how unfair it is to other players to wait while you’re away.
  
• Content ~ Gotham Nights has no limits or restrictions on what members can post in character, however, because our host does not tolerate it, you may not post any: pornography, illegal activities, flaming/personal attacks etc. More information can be found in the Forum Guidelines
  
• You cannot be in two places at once ~ Being in two places at once is physically impossible. Gotham Nights takes place in real time, meaning time moves on just as it does in the real world.
  
• No God Playing ~ This means you can’t control the fate of another character. So do not speak for them, do not move for them, and do not attack them with the expectation they will die spontaneously.
  
• No Power Play ~ This means you are not invulnerable to every attack. So you can not walk away from a serious hit uninjured and just laugh it off. You can not dodge everything that comes at you ever single time without a reasonable means for doing so.
  
• Private Topics ~ Any topic with a [P] symbol in the title or description is private to the topic starter. You must get permission from the topic starter or (depending on situation) an admin before you are allowed to post in the topic in question.
  
• NEW Character Limit: May sign up a total of 5 characters. This includes a combination of both Original and Cannon characters. You can only sign up a total of 2 bold characters. You must be a member for two weeks with an active canon character to apply for an original character. The same rule applies for characters whose names appear in bold on the cannon list. This rule may vary depending Admin approval or, in the case of the sign-up of a bolded canon, quality of the sign-up.
  
• NEW Signup Sheets: Histories from now on will not be accepted if plagiarized. Character information must be in your own words. Histories should include the reason your character is in Gotham and must be 200 words minimum. Also a 150 word example post must be included. The better your example post the more likely your character will be accepted. Also include a way to contact your character if needed for something. Ex. Screen name, email, or PM. (this info can be sent to an admin if you so choose)*

*Currently no word limits are being enforced.
