First song up on there, and it's AMAZING!

They're the new Ev! Finally we get something decent to follow Fallen instead of that shit TOD. YAAAAAY!!! The guitar on that song is so much better than the horrible monotonous TOD guitars. That's my main TOD complaint. Bad guitar.

I do agree about the guitars. They are really good, as are the strings.

The vocals I like. One thing though, I'm sorry, I don't see how people can compare her with Amy. She sounds more like Cristina from Lacuna Coil (which is not a bad thing mind you) rather than Amy.

We are going to get heavier songs than this in the future though right? :unsure:

Did anyone come up with the lyrics? That's the only other thing I'm iffy about. I have the worst ears and all I hear is the chorus. :blink:

The song is alright. I think she's trying to copy Amy's vocals though. Maybe it's just me. I'll wait to hear a few more songs before I decide that.

we should rename this thread into "we are the fallen" because that's their new name. they got a cease and desist order from some other band that's called "the fallen" (and i'm sure there are dozens of "the fallen"s out there anyway..) so they had to rename themselves.

to be honest i'd rather have had them think of something completely different, because a bandname that includes the word "fallen" only leads stupid amyescence fans to cause more drama than there already is concerning the band.... if the band name is intended as a sort of fuck-you to her highness (which is understandable, yet immature as well), then that's not the best way to make themselves be taken seriously by some people. there are enough people claiming WATF is only "evanescence 2.0", and i believe that wouldn't be so much the case if they didn't reference an evanescence album in their band name.


anywayyyy... when i read that ben, john and rocky formed a new band i was super super excited, that's what i've been dreaming of for awhile now. i'm very happy to see the guys make music together again in a (hopefully) peaceful environment.

i had never heard of carly smithson before (i'm not from the us, and i don't watch american idol), but you can't deny the girl has a GREAT voice, which is also evident in her live performances (in contrast to a certain somebody else... sorry, but it's true) people keep saying she sounds like amy, but i find she reminds me more of kelly clarkson.
however....it really does sound like she's trying to copy or at least imitate amy's singing style, and i have a problem with that. i want this band to be talen seriously and therefore carly should sing in her own style instead of trying to sound like somebody else. i also don't like the fact that now suddenly, just cuz she's in a rock band, she feels the need to dye her hair black and dress "goth". that only adds to justifiable amy lee comparisons.

i don't approve of ben mentioning evanescence and amy lee in WATF interviews, i'm sure that must be hard, but it is necessary in order to get credit for being a NEW band and not an ev clone with a different fontwoman.

the song "bury me alive" is good, but nothing special. i expect the new songs to sound better. i guess just don't like it when songs are too formulaic. then again i mostly listen to non-commercial metal styles, so maybe i just have to get used to mainstream rock again..

nevertheless, i will definitely support this band. now it would be awesome if will and david would join too, but i don't think that's gonna happen considering david is doing solo work now (i think).

^Just a quick, FYI, Carly doesn't dye her hair. ;) Or if she does, it's been like that since before American Idol, so she's not copying. The goth thing is off-putting, though.

And yeah, the song is very meh. Verily. But I'm sure they will progress and get better. And the vocal styles, yes, very Kellyish, I agree, and I also agree that she's ripping Amy's style. She had her own style on American Idol that worked well. She should use that one.
