Must post and inspection before making a character!! Post here a small sample of your work. It doesn't have to be extreemly long, but it has to be more than three sentences at least. It doesn't have to be related to Gidaal.

Most people die trying to reach the island or on the return trip. Why? Because of the constant storms that ravage the seas all around it. It's said that the skies are always clear on Storm Island, but you can see the ring of black clouds surronding it. Why do people want to get to this island so badly? Because it is a place of great magic. The storms were placed there by a powerful mage, wanting to keep people away. There are terrible monsters dwelling there, but the leaves of the trees can cure the deepest wounds and the metal that can be mined there makes for almost supernaturaly powerful weapons (The metal cannot break and never goes dull.). They call the metal StormSteel, and the leaves they call Stalia Leaves. Both are extreemly costly and extreemly rare. About two stormsteel swords are made in three years, if the harvests are good.

This Island is like no where else in the world. Adre City is located here, sprawling over most of the inhabitable parts of the island. What makes this place so unique? Their inventions. It's not uncommon to see men and women walk about with metal arms, legs or other apendages, often stronger than normal limbs. There are suits made of metal that can be operated be one man or several. Of course, they aren't suited for battle at all, but they can be used for construction and transport. There are guns as well. Of course, these are all extreemly expensive. Most people can spend a life's savings just to replace an arm or leg. Even the wealthiest person couldn't afford more than two of the robotic suits. There are two kinds of replacement limbs. One kind is powered by a sort of core than must be charged regularly. The other kind is made to run off the energy your body produces. The latter is far more expensive. If an arm or leg runs out of power, it can't even move. Guns are almost more expensive than an arm or leg, and they're outlawed in the mainland's cities. Also, guns haven't been perfected yet, and there's a great chance they could break or backfire on you.

This bustling place is where all the inventions that made Adre Isle famous are crafted. It's a lively city, but a dangerous one. Mechanical body-parts are expensive and popular. It's not uncommon for someone to wake up with their newly-bought arm ripped off. Crime is high here, but it's pretty well organized.

Jan is the Capitol of Adre. It's small, especially when compaired to Adre City. In all reality, Jan has little to offer. Yes, there are mechanic's shops, but they pale next to those of Adre City's. Aside from the Council, all Jan has to offer are very well made ships and boats. The Council is the government of Adre Isle. It's a group of seven individuals who come together to set down the laws. Yes, these Councilmembers are elected, but the elections aren't the fairest. Votes are bought and sold, and voting wrong could resault in death if not worse.

These gentle mountains hug the northern shore, making the coast into sheer cliffs. Many, many mines have hollowed out these rich mountains, some are still used while others are abandoned, creatures lying in wait for a snack to wander their way. These mountains are rich in iron, gold, silver and some gems.

Once upon a time, these woods covered most of the north. Now, they forest is small, it's trees and animals choped down and hunted for lumber, food and furs. The spirits of these woods are hostile towards any and all, so the forest is relatively untouched these days. Occasionally, someone will befrend the spirits. A friend of the spirits is allowed to travel through these woods, but they cannot harm floura or fauna or their lives are forfiet.

While this is the smallest of the main cities, it is also the wealthiest. This city is home to the White Palace, the residence of the Royal Family. It is in Crown City that all the biggest celebrations are held.
A wall divides the Wealthy from the Poor. At sundown the four, heavily guarded gates are closed, and at sunrise they are opened. Not even the best of theves or the wealthies person can enter or exit the Rich District at night. The wall is made of the same, white stone as the Palace and most of the bigger buildings are made of.

At the foot of the Guardian Mountains lies Saringard. Here is where the best blacksmiths make their crafts. Out on the wide plains that stretch to the South, East and West, they keep their horses. It is said that there is no finer steed than a Saringard horse. Here is where the knights are trained, so the crime is next to none. After all, who wants to take up a life of crime when the city is chock-full of armed knights? The buildings here are made mostly of bricks, since it's easier to obtain rock from the mountains then to travel and fetch wood. So, a sign of wealth is a wooden home, oddly enough.

This bustling city is the home of two, very important buildings: the Library and the Magus Academy. Both buildings are of grand size and made of white stone brought all the way from Crown City. The Magus Academy resembles a castle, towers scratching the sky and wrought-iron gates mark the place. The higest tower, located on the Southern Corner is made of black stone. Why? No one really knows, though there are plenty of stories to be told about it. Here is where magic-users can hone their skills. They teach in the classical sense: incantations and spell components to cast magic. There are, of course, other ways to learn to use your magic.
The Library, while smaller than the Academy, is far more important. Books, as we all know, are very rare. The Library has thousands of books, collected from anywhere they could be found. People come from all over the world to browse through their scrolls, books and other works. Damage or steal anything, and the penalty is death.

This large forest is home to two very special beasts: ruku and anar. Ruku are large, gentle reptiles which can be trained to ride. They're thought to be a lesser form of dragons, for they almost resemble them and eat meat. However, Ruku are only a dark-green color and are flightless and cannot breath fire. They're also quite dumb. They're useful to ride and can be used in battle if trained well enough. Anar are a hot-tempered species of bird. They are large birds with black or white feathers and gold crests. If one can be caught and tamed, they are faithful companions. It is said their songs are the most beautiful thing you can ever hear.
Silverwood is known for a rare species of tree with silver-colored leaves. The spirits are fond of these trees and protect them at all costs.

This is a gentle city full of some of the best healers in the land. Once, the city was exclusively of elven population, but now they allow other races into their numbers. Rare potions and beautiful wooden crafts (such as flutes and chests) can be found here, some even enchanted. For the most part, this is a peaceful town, the homes made of lumber (some even built into the trees).

In this sprawling city, the Empress watches over her people. Vendors sell their wares from mats, stalls, tents and the occasional shop. It has been said that if you want the finest jewelry, gowns and perfumes, Navah is the place to go. Some of these fine wares are transported from Oasis. Other are crafted by the hands of the skilled jewelry smiths and seamstresses. The buildings in this city are unique. Grand stone buildings sit next to complex wooden ones. There are buildings of brick, clay and other materials, even the occasional tent serves as a house for those used to traversing the desert sands. Each building is of a design different from the others, making this a facinating place to wander.

This smallish city is known as the Last Refuge. Here is water, food and shelter. It is the last resting place before the carivans and fools enter the desert's sand. Wonderful riches can be found in Oasis: silks, perfumes, jewels and trinkets all wait to be bought and sold in the busy market place. Crime is high here, and the desperate look to become rich.

Hot at day and frigid at night, no one wants to spend much time in this desert. There are few oasises, most taken over by bandits who charge high prices for the water and shade. Many people venture into this place seeking the riches of those who died in the desert, but they often die, just adding their own treasures to the sands for the next fool to find.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Ru' Manon
Long carvans, travelers and even some royalty will travel to Ru' Manon. It's a relatively small place, most of the buildings being inns. Some of these inns are the common, one- or two-story inns with run by a small family. Others are almost as large as a decent mannor and have a full-staff of serving men and women to wait upon the guests. Why is Ru' Manon so special? It is here that the Temple of Gidaal was constructed. It's a remarkable building constructed of the finest wood and beautiful grey and white stone. Bronze trims the building, causing it to glisten and almost glow with the right light. Several bells, all crafted to ring with a different tone, rest in their towers, waiting to sing. A grand flight of stairs leads up to the mohagony double doors. These doors are intricately carved with sceens from legend. You can spend days stairing at the carvings, and still not see every detail they have to offer. Upon entering the building, one will find themselves in a vast room, marble floors painted in many colors from large stained-glass windows. Life-like statues stand in a ring on the center of the floor, cast of bronze, gold and silver. They are cast in the likeness of Hana, Jia, Jeshri and Laih. In each corner there is another statue, two carved from black obsidian and two from white marble. The the black statues watch each other diagonally across the room, as the white's do. The marble statues are Shaa and Aeva, the black are Plague and Insanity. There is nothing else in the room. No tapestries, no carpets or benches. Just the statues.
Two doors lead deeper into the temple, one leading to the small quarters where the High Priest lives. The other to a small collection of books and scrolls. Both doors are locked to visitors and guarded heavily.

These mountains have been mined and mined again, but only very small quantities of brass, bronze and iorn have been found. These jagged mountains seem to have nothing to offer but some peace and quite for the wanderer.
However, lying deep in the mountains, past a labrynth of tunnels is a great cavern where the Mother Dragon watches over her clutch. ((Roleplay ineraction with the Mother Dragon in the Mother Dragon forum.))
