The pavement was slick with wet, on the seventh day of this seemingly endless drench. Inhabitants of the town were starting to worry that a flood would soon be immenent. But, it didn't matter to Dieke; she thought it was beautiful.

Amy Dieke rose from her seat by the window to get another steaming cup of earl grey tea. Her small pale hands clasped themselves around the pot handle, instantly able to feel the heat reaching out from the liquid trapped inside. Softly, she smiled to herself, hoping that the rain never ends. The yound girl knew it was an illogical probability, and even a disasturous wish, but it was just so lovely a dream.

The lonely presence within her small Youswell appartment had grown more favorable since the last two months, like a familiar blanket wrapped around her figure in the darkest of nights. The placement of her sparse furniture, too, felt like old friends in for a cozy little visit. Dieke scoffed a bit. She couldn't believe that she had a life before this calmness.

A knock from the door interrupted her reviere, and a tea cup shattered across the kitchen floor. "Oh, shit," flustered Dieke. It was clear, by the way Dieke's features darkened, that she was deeply annoyed by the resulting mess. "I'm coming," she called out blankly. Hurriedly, she cleaned up the glistening shards and dried the floor off. Lovely. This is going to stain the floor, she thought. The action only took up a few seconds.

Dieke walked to her door, wondering who in the Hell would be crazy enough to go outside in this terribly rainy weather, and, more importantly, who disturbed her quiet cup of tea. "This better be good," she grumbled to herself.

Slightly, she turned the knob and opened the door a pinch. "Hello?"

There he was, clad in raincoat, rags, and garnet-colored silk scarf...the dregs of Youswell society. Every once in a while, Yoki would swallow his pride and roam around the mining town, begging for alms. In the last few months, he'd been in a number of refugee camps, attacked by an ex-con in a homeless shelter, mooching a place off an old gambling buddy (only to have her kick him out for spending some of her paycheck on schnapps), and scrambling his way even out into the Gun Frontier...only to see that scarred homicidal maniac from Ishbal.

Youswell seemed safer, for all that was worth. It sure beat mobsters, psychopathic killers, angry colleagues, and having to put up with other hobos. "It's getting really nasty out there, and I don't have enough for that pig pen of an inn," he whined, slouching at the door. "Can I come in?"

As much as Dieke would have rather shut the door right there and then, to refuse would downright inhumane. There was no choice.

Quiety, Dieke nodded. "Come in," she answered to the man. "There's a coatrack down the hall."

Shivering, Yoki scrambled in, very much like a stray dog...or wet rat. With that skinny moustache of his, he looked far more like the latter rather than the former. "Thank you. I'd pay you back for this if I could, but I'm penniless." That wasn't entirely true, but pretty damn close; he'd managed to find two sens on the street earlier. He was seriously tempted to ask for food, but decided against it; he was already pushing his luck and he knew it.

Growing up, Dieke's family readily took in strangers from the streets, although it wasn't that often a happening. Her parents always offered the strangers fresh clothes first, followed by home-cooked food and rest. If saw fit, her parents even offered them baths. Dieke didn't trust this man before her at any length, but would give him shelter anyway. She wasn't one to break with tradition... to a reasonable point, at least.

Her strawberry-blond hair fell onto her face as she nodded in understandment. "I have some spare clothes you could borrow for the night." Her hand slighted towards the living room. "The bathroom is just past there, on the right. You can dry yourself off there while I get them for you."

Before she left to search for the mentioned items, Dieke lifted her dark eyes up to the man's face. "My name is Amy, just so you know."

"Well, Amy, it's very kind of you to allow me in here for the evening. I'll try my best not to be any trouble to you whatsoever," Yoki replied, getting the feeling this young lady knew all too well who he was...and what he'd done to Youswell a few years ago. Damn Elrics; they'd spoiled everything. He slipped off toward the bathroom, planning on taking a quick shower; smelling like old cabbage, body odor, and grime was nothing more than disgusting and therefore something he detested.

When was the last time he'd had a chance to tidy up? It'd been over two weeks ago; he knew that much. The clothes he'd been in moments earlier were so filthy and sweated-in that they could stand all on their own...nasty.

((OOC: OMG! I've totally forgotten who Yoki was until now! @_@ I haven't seen him for such a long time! Jeez, I feel so moronic now.)

IC:
The trip downstairs wasn't long, just as Amy thought it would be. She picked out a light pink blouse she never wore anymore, and dark navy pants that were too long for her to wear anyways. It's not like he'll be able to tell a guy's button shirt from a blouse, right?

"Better than nothing," she said to herself quietly. Her footsteps quickly fled back upstairs, not stopping until they found their way outside the bathroom. The clothes were folded neatly over her left arm, holding them in place with her right. A thought suddenly struck her: She didn't have any men's underwear. Immediately, her face turned crimson. "It'll be a cold day in Hell before I let him borrow that."

Her right hand slowly went to push open the bathroom door.

((OOC: Yoki's like Barry the Chopper, Russell Tringham, and Sig Curtis when it comes to RPGs...very few people consider playing him, not realizing just how much fun he can actually be. I am NOT a Yoki fan, but he's quite a riot!))

Luckily, Yoki had been drying off with a towel at that point, but he was still caught completely off guard when the door creaked open. "AAAAAAGH!" he yowled, grabbing a soapy sponge from the shower. Unfortunately, the maneuver made him slip on the floor and fall, hitting the back of his head on the faucet. It was hard enough to cause a concussion, but somehow he managed to stay conscious. 'Ow...' was all he could think at first.

This surprising sequence of events caused Dieke to completely forget her anger towards the man in her bathroom. Abruptly she turned her back and slammed the door shut, completely shocked and left without words. She gasped for breath, trying to decide quickly what to do. "Shit..." she muttered over and over.

"It's all my fault anyway," thought Dieke in Horror. This truely was a scary experience for the girl, never having been in such an awkward situation.

She tip-toed back inside the bathroom, still warm from the steam. This man looked to be in a great deal of pain. Dieke lightly touched his shoulder. "Easy," she said softly.

"No," Yoki whined, rubbing the back of his head. "Hard; that's precisely how the faucet felt." It was going to leave a mark, and he didn't like those. "Looking back, I should've locked the door. That'd make this better for the both of us, wouldn't you say?" A little ice and he'd be fine, but he was Phineas Yoki, a man known for griping, whining, and making mountains out of mole hills.

Dieke nodded, slightly flushing. As she helped him up, she looked away.

I'll... I'll get you something for that. Just... help yourself to whatever. You can wear those," she stumbled. Dieke's head was hung low, staring at the floor as she pointed over to the once neatly folded clothes she had just brought up. She half-walked half-ran out of the bathroom.

Well, he wasn't exactly a prize, but wasn't running a bit too melodramatic considering the circumstances? Yoki looked at the clothing and blinked a couple of times; this was a girl's blouse, even if it wasn't a frilly one! Oh well; nobody he'd ever met died from crossdressing. Taking a deep breath, he started dressing himself, surprised that the trousers fit (except for in the rear area where they sort of sagged; after all, women tended to be much rounder in the abdomen than men, and Yoki was quite a bony fellow). Looking in the mirror, he kept mentally telling himself it wasn't that bad and nobody would notice; Amy was just trying to be helpful.

That was more than could be said for the pigpen inn and its inhabitants. Kayal had even thrown moldy leftovers at him earlier...the little prick.

((OOC: So Dieke was being melodramatic? lol, at least she was brave enough to go in there... >.> I'd be running through the house screaming curses over and over having a panic attack XD))

Dieke was searching for an icepack in the kitchen for the back of the man's neck. She was furiously thinking trying to get the image of the scene from mere seconds ago out of her mind. The girl never was comfortable around men... other than those sharing of her lineage (Family was a different matter altogether for her). Either she would act in a mean manner, or end up blushing like crazy. It was quite odd for someone her age, but her social life was never quite 'active', resulting in the psychological behaviour shown this evening. A strange man she'd only just met this night inside her bathroom covered in nothing but a towel... surely that's an understandable situation. Thankfully, the cloth didn't fall off after his little fall.

In a drawer of miscellanious objects, she found a rubber heating bottle. Taking it, she filled it with freezing water along with a few ice cubes, and left it in the sink. A mental list started to form in her mind: first, make dinner... for two this night; second, decide who sleeps where... she'll likely take the couch as courtesy; lastly, find a way to get him out of here. Dieke started task one.

(OOC: You've got to keep in mind that you're dealing with Yoki, and nothing he says or thinks can be taken at 100% face value)

Gingerly, Yoki put one of his cold clammy hands on the red throbbing area on the back of his neck. The tinge of pain he felt made the edges of his skinny moustache bounce up and get a scowl across his bony face. 'Ouch! Well, at least I can still move it...' he thought as he pressed it a bit further before turning his neck around at whatever angle he could muster. He could see his scarf on the floor (looking ridiculously clean in comparison to everything else he owned), and quickly put it in his pocket; he wasn't about to part with it.

"Is it safe to come out of here?" he asked Dieke before creaking the door open just a little. Well, it was a fair warning; at least he was dressed this time...

"Uh.... yes, sir," replied Dieke slowly, still unsure what to call the man. "What did you say your name was again?"

Dieke was hunched over a cutting board, preparing some vegeatables for a salad while the ham was cooking in the oven. Sweet smells invited a possiability of something actually tasty. She could only hoped her cooking skills have improved since her last attempt at a proper meal.
