'Did you hear some man came into town? Says his name was Victor Von Frankenstien...'

'What in the hell could that man be doing here of all places?'

'I really don't want to know why someone like Frankenstien would come to New Hiesgart....'

It was the gossip, and the rumors of that day. Victor had in fact, counted on it. He knew someone in this town, Fear was looming somewhere. And he wanted to talk with his creation. But out in the open, they would be fired upon. That was why Victor chose a more secluded but familiar area.

As Victor saw the full moon looming overhead, making the graveyard even more errie during midnight, he waited.

He was beginning to wonder if Fear had even heard the rumors....and he was also wondering how he was reacting to the news.

Indeed, Fear had heard the rumors, but he hated the fact that people had already dubbed him "Frankenstein's Monster". In his mind, he was far from a monster. In fact, he was far more human than the majority of the dunderheads out here, or anywhere else in the world, for that matter. The world never appreciated his genius, and for that, somebody who'd had the potential to do great and wonderful things instead did great and terrible things with his large cadaverous hands. Word of Victor's arrival reached his ears, and not idly, either. "Shall I confront him?" he asked Sovieul Sirenus (Lunacy) with a very serious tone.

"Why should I care what you do with your life, Fear? It's your life to live; do what you want."

Responses like that lacked any sort of camaraderie, which was why Fear held a closer bond to Superstition rather than Lunacy. 'Very well...' he thought, vexed already. In this entire life of his, nobody had outstretched an arm in friendship; even Superstition and Lunacy probably viewed him as little more than a large intimidating puppet who sometimes thought for himself. His brilliance was wasted...always wasted. 'I'll confront him.' With that, he left the house Lunacy had taken over for the time being and headed down the alleys of New Hiesgart, the moonlight reflecting on his semi-rotten skin.

Victor sighed as he saw his breath in the cold air. It was getting late, and if he remained here for any longer, police could come and think he was going to dig up graves again, and arrest him on the spot.

That was when he saw someone coming, but it wasn't just anyone. Not many people were that tall.

Victor stared at Fear...his creation for a moment in silence. Then finally, he said "It's good to see that you haven't decided to kill me yet Fear." His voice didn't show any anger, nor did he respond as if Fear was stupid. He sounded as if...he cared, like he was a son but through strained relationships, the two never got along.

Fear halted when he heard that voice...it was the voice of the man he hated more than any other. "I'm not a killer, like all those rumors say," he replied, standing still. His posture was perfect, and he stood as still as a corpse in rigor mortis. Those bloodshot eyes of his looked toward Victor darkly. "Don't think I'm deaf; everyone here is blaming me for all those deaths, and I'm sure you're under that same impression." He turned toward the edge of the city and met it with a very glassy gaze. "I'm not a killer..."

He'd never wanted to be one, either. His main reason for killing, if it ever came to that, was simply because people were so dense and prejudiced that they didn't deserve to keep on exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide, among other activities. Mankind always managed to reject what it didn't understand, and there were only a select few who ever sought out explanations to quench inquisition. Those few didn't bother Fear anywhere near as much as these damn bigots...and it'd all started with Victor, who'd run away in fright upon the birth of his creation.

"Fear...I'm sorry to say but I can't exactly believe you. If you didn't do it, then who did?" asked Victor in a concerned way. After a while where Fear just wasn't going to answer, Victor sighed and said "Look...I want to make a deal. I know that you want me to suffer...but I want to..." He felt a bit hesitant saying this. he turned it down once, would he do it again?

"Tell me Fear...do you still want a mate?"

If any question had ever been able to make him cringe, this was it. Just as he was about to explain to Victor that it was Lunacy who did the killings (making Sovieul Sirenus the world's most hypocritical Necromancer; so much for always give life, but never take it away), not him, he paused, his weary eyes widening in shock. "You chickened out when I first told you what I wanted," Fear pointed out to Victor, folding his arms. He was strong, far stronger than any living man, and walked toward the elderly gentleman. He then picked him up by the shirt collar. "My desires haven't changed in the least...Father. I would love and cherish her, since she's the only type of person who could ever love me back."

He believed that by now; children screamed in fright when he walked down the streets, even when he smiled and tried to be friendly. That pissed him off nearly as much as the fact that his only human friend at present was blind as a bat and kept spraying him with air fresheners. It would only make sense that the only kind of person in this disgusting and fickle universe who could ever have the depths in her heart to understand his pain and suffering would be somebody made of the same material...somebody with all his perks and problems. The homunculi were just as bad as the humans, too; that's why he didn't have qualms about terminating them. "Do me this one favor; create another being like me who will stay at my side, and I'll do you a favor in return." He paused, letting Victor's feet touch the ground again. "I'll leave you alone; I'll stay away from you, your daughter, and your granddaughters...your entire family."

Dangling a few feet from the ground, Victor looked up at his 'son' and gave a weak smile. "Fear...it won't exactly be too long for that to happen." he stated. "I've already been working on her for sometime. I just need a month or two at the most, and I'll have her ready. Just please...I don't want the rest of my family to be dragged into my mistake." He paused for a moment, rummeging through his coat pocket for something. "I have a picture of her if you wish to see it..." he stated.

He didn't have to say anything more than that; Fear wanted to see that photograph, and made it perfectly clear to Victor he'd enjoy that. See? He was being civil and definitely had the emotional capacity to contain his hatred and anger for as long as necessary! When his deathly eyes looked at the image in the photograph, he nearly wept in joy. "She's..." What could he say? For one thing, she looked like she was made with far more care and devotion than he was. Everytime he looked in the mirror, he saw the stitches, the uneven flesh tones...the patchwork. In the photograph, this anonymous lady--this sleeping goddess--was, in his eyes, flawless. "...I swear to God, she's everything I dreamed of and more..."

So this was how it felt to love someone. The only questions with this, of course, were whether Victor would (again) chicken out, and if she would, in fact, be able to love him back.

"Fear...just give me time and I'll have her done..." stated Victor, putting a hand on Fear's shoulder. "Her name is Serenity...and call me by the end of the month to see my progress on her. Just please...don't be violent. I wanted the best for you...and I hope that this will somehow help you achieve that goal."

Fear nodded, a rather gruesome-looking smile appearing on his ghastly face. "It will..." he insisted, keeping the photo in his large and powerful hands. "Serenity..." He found his breathing so heavy in comparison to earlier. Maybe this was really his cue to go elsewhere, so that's what he did. "You'll see me again in a month, Father. Until then, you and your family would be best to continue watching your backs. I'm the plague that never goes away."

"Somehow I knew you were going to say that." mumbled Victor rubbing his forehead a bit. "Alright...I'll see you soon then Fear. I need to make some last things ready for her." With that Victor gave a pat on Fear's shoulder (standing on his tip toes of course) and gave a weak smile, walking towards the train station. Hopefully a train for Central would be avaliable soon. "By the way...you can keep the picture." he added to Fear. "You need it more then I do."

"You're right," Fear admitted, clutching the photograph in his hand. He'd think it now, just as he'd probably think a million times before he confronted Serenity in reality; she was perfect, beyond the natural hand of any Alchemist, Necromancer, or other human being. "For once, you're absolutely right." The smile on his face then had nothing frightening about it; instead, it looked sad and almost human. In an instant, though, it was gone as he waved goodbye and headed back toward the crowds...back towards Sovieul Sirenus, who was booking a ride for Lior. "Hey, you," Fear said, picking up the other Fallen. "Where're you headed now?"

"Mudi Nemda's ruining everything over here," Sovieul grumbled, adjusting his opaline mandala scarf. "I'm going back to where I've got my Necromancer residence, Fear. Besides, Superstition would like a nice little visit, wouldn't she?" When he saw something different in Fear's eyes, he blinked his own. "What is it?"

"Lunacy, my dear friend," Fear began, already eager to pack his bags and head for another destination...maybe Rush Valley or Dublith. "You wouldn't believe me, even if I tried to explain..."
