* don't look back, tagging: jong kyu

[KIM CHI HYE]

the air was frosty to say the least, however that couldn't be helped and nineteen year old kim chi hye continued to gaze absent-minded at the sky. she was supposed to be working on her project but at the moment she had too many other thoughts to consume the tiny space known as her brain. so instead she gazed up at the twinkling stars as they danced among the sky being stunned. it was for this reason that she had chosen to study astronomy as well as the fact that she wanted to know why among all of the places on earth she had been forced to live here, with her family and not somewhere else.

yawning softly she moved her hand to her mouth to cover it before checking the time and realizing how late it was. most likely her mom and step-dad had probably went to sleep and she would have to climb through the window. this was not something new and the neighbors had gotten so used to it that they decided to ignore it. picking up her books she quickly began to walk home continuing to look upward until something shiny on the train tracks caught her eye. instantly she stopped to look at it, the music blasting into her ears from her ipod not allowing her to here the sound of the coming train. until it was too late and the bright headlights were visable in her eye. she stood captured like a deer on the highway bracing herself for the impact rather than throwing her body out of the way.

[SAN JONG KYU]

He first saw her a block or two back. The town was small and he knew he'd run into her eventually. And there she was, just walking along her merry way on her way to nowhere in particular when JongKyu first laid eyes on her. It's been so long. Years. And yet she didn't look any different. Well no, that was a lie. She definitely looked different. More mature. A woman. So leaving enough money behind for his strawberry milk and strawberry shortcake he'd been eating at the Lotus Cafe, Jong Kyu followed Chi Hye for a bit, wondering if she'd recognize him or not if he approached her. He looked different, but they'd been so close before she couldn't possibly not recognize him, right?

He hadn't quite managed to catch up with her until around the railroad tracks. She'd slowed down since there were less lights out here and the stars were brighter. Heck, even JongKyu had been admiring the stars. That is until he saw the train coming, and ChiHye standing right in the middle of the tracks. yelling, screaming, waving his arms JongKyu started towards her to try and get her attention from whatever it was she was staring at on the ground. When she didn't respond, he realized she was listening to music and his speed quickened.

He only had a split second to run and tackle into her. The train was coming and he couldn't just pull her out of the way. So once he was close enough, he grabbed her and twisted a bit so that he wouldn't fall ontop of her. Once he tackled her out of the way, JongKyu rolled a little so they were completely out of harm's way and he covered her with his body in case the plane let off sparks or anything. The train came and went quickly because it only had a couple connections on it, however the shock of what just happened was still in JongKyu's chest as he tried to tell himself he was still alive. She was still alive. It worked.

it never occured to her that getting hit by a train would hurt this little. not that she was complaining but usually in stories they told of mangled bodies being ripped apart and of people getting crushed. the impact she felt was not strong enough to mangle her body or crush even the tiniest object unless it was fragile and that was a completely different story. still though she wondered why she wasn't dead. usually in a case of train versus human the train always won. maybe she had super powers, super strength. however it probably would have surfaced a long time ago and since it didn't she assumed that this was not the case.

for a moment chi hye laid their her eyes snapped shut afriad to open and take a look at the scene around her. hearing not only her heavy breathing but also someone else. it was the fact that there was someone else that caused her eyes to snap open and for her to sit up looking around. he had just ruined her chance of getting away, she had one shot and it was gone now. she would have to return to that evil house and deal with those evil people. blinking as hot tears began to flow she stood up feeling slightly dizzy and went to him moving to hit him in the chest. "yah you are an idiot." she yelled at him softly before turning to look and see where the bag she had been carrying had managed to go to.

[SAN JONG KYU]

At first JongKyu was afraid that she'd been hurt. He moved to get up and looked down at her and she didn't move right away. Did he hit her head and cause her to go unconscious? She didn't look too injured but...wait...as she snapped her eyes open and sat up he felt a breath of relief leave his body and he stared at her. As he inspected her with his eyes quickly, he felt so much relief to see that she was okay. That is until she pulled away and got up and told him he was an idiot!

JongKyu's jaw dropped slightly when she called him an idiot then started looking for her bag. Standing up as well, JongKyu watched her look around and was still too shocked at her calling him an idiot. "Idiot? I...I just saved your life! You could have died if you stayed there!" had it occurred to him that she wanted to die? Yes. But he was avoiding that possibility and really just hoped that she had still been shocked and that death hadn't been her anticipated outcome. If so he wanted to just slap her for being idiotic. He didn't hit girls though. As much as he thought she might have deserved it or needed it to snap out of whatever stupor she might be in, NO way did he slap girls.

"aigoooo aigoooo shit." she cursed softly under her breath as the pain from being knocked to the ground finally managed to take hold on her body. most likely she hadn't noticed it before because of the shock that came with this whole situation. now though however it felt like she had literally been hit by a train. her head was hurting and her eyes were threatening to let loose a stream of tears. however she could hold it back for now anyways. no way was she going to cry in front of this person. she continued to search for her bag wanting nothing better than to run from this situation. that was the perfect solution. atleast in her mind anyways. if she ran away everything would be solved like it had been so many times before.

"yes you are an idiot." she told him turning back to him eyes narrowing in a way to show that she was no pleased. "you should have just let me die. it's bad karma to mess with things like that. besides you just ruined my happiness." she snapped at him spotting her bag behind him and going to collect it even though she felt dizzy still. she picked it up on slung it around her shoulder before rummaging through it to make sure everything was inside and intact.

[SAN JONG KYU]

How could she want to die? It made no sense to JongKyu. It especially made no sense to him that she was ANGRY at him for saving her life. Most people were thankful, right? Thankful that they hadn't died, thankful that their life was spared after making such a horrible decision. But here she was, angry at him, saying that he took away her unhappiness and that he was an idiot with bad Karma now.

"YAH! It would have been even worse if I let you die! You think it's better to die but what about those you leave behind? Babo..." sighing he watched her get her bag that he didn't realize was behind him. She looked like she was in pain and this made him less on edge and wanting to continue to yell at her.

"You're hurt...I'm sorry for that. Let me buy some medicine or something to help with the pain from you falling like this?" she could be as mad as she wanted to be. It didn't change the fact that he wasn't going to let her die. Especially when he knew her...especially when she was the woman he promised to marry one day. What luck...for him to be able to find her...what horrible luck for it to be in this situation. Did she not even recognize him?

"it would have been worse for you but not for me." she told him pouting selfishly. after all it was true he would probably have to live with the guilt of letting her die, unless of course he was like her. not even she could be that heartless when it came down to it. deep inside there was a flicker of light that still carried and that wouldn't be able to throw away another's person's life so easily. "the ones i leave behind?" she told him laughing softly. after all chi hye was sure that she wouldn't be missed much. sure her mom would probably be sad the first few days but only because she needed someone to cook and clean for her.

her head was blinding the pain. however she expected as much after almost being hit by a train. she wanted to go away and deal with this on her own. find some corner to cry in and stay there until she felt better. however that wouldn't help her headache and it would only get worse. since she didn't have any won on her she couldn't buy medicine for it and therefore turned back to the boy. she felt like she should know him however he wasn't familar to her. "arasso arasso let's go and buy medicine." she told him softly not wanting to argue anymore and also wanting to fix the pain in her head.

[SAN JONG KYU]

Aish. This blind woman obviously didn't realize that people cared about her. Wanting to tell her right up who he was and how he knew her, JongKyu couldn't tell if she recognized him or not. It's been so long though, since they last saw eachother. Not to mention he's changed a lot since then in both appearance and personality. But then she hasn't changed all that much. She's grown thinner in some aspects and larger in others, but she was still the same KimChi he knew back when they were younger.

When ChiHye accepted his offer of medicine though, JongKyu forgot about telling her exactly who he was and smiled slightly. "Good Good...By the way...My name is Jong Kyu. San Jong Kyu" would she recognize him from his name? Or would he have to remind her later who he was? Either way, he was going to buy her medicine for her head whether she remembered him or not. So starting walking towards the closest drug store, he made sure he waited for her to follow and not to leave her behind. It would be silly to keep walking if she didn't follow after all.

eyes grew wide at the mention of his name. she had known a boy who had that name once, but that was a long time ago and she was quiet sure that it wasn't who she was looking for. ani she had given up believing that he would come back a long time ago so even if he did manage to come back into her life it wasn't like it would change anything. "ah then jong kyu it's nice to meet you." she told him softly wondering whether it was proper to use honorifics or not. of course she wasn't sure how old he was, and not that it mattered much anyways since probably she would slip back into her habit of being informal anyways. "i'm kim chi hye." she told him quietly her mind still realing at the thought of this being her jong kyu. of course deep down she knew better than to start this mess all over again but it didn't mattered to a strong-willed person like herself. she continued to walk towards the town and the local pharmacy wondering if anything would even be open at this hour.

[SAN JONG KYU]

"Nice to see you Kimchi..." he said with a smile and continued walking towards the pharmacy. It hadn't even crossed his mind that it might not be open at this hour. It was late and it was very possible that nothing was open at this time. Maybe restaurants and the movies, but neither of those places were really good places to get medication for someone, right?

As they walked, his eyes moved over to look towards Chi Hye every now and then, and then move to look up at the stars. He loved the stars. They were so pretty and there were always too many to count. Gyeoljeong was a very good place to look at stars from. It wasn't bright here like in the city. Here you could look up and see a vast amount of stars by just looking up. Unlike Seoul or other cities where you had to get above the lights to see maybe a handful of stars.

As the two got to the pharmacy, JongKyu saw that it was closed and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and tried knocking on the door to see if anyone was there. When he saw no one was going to answer the door, he turned and looked at ChiHye with an appologetic expression on his face. "Ah...they're closed..."

he called her. a notion that caused her to stop dead in her tracks. however it was possible that he had heard her name being used around town. after all it wasn't a very large town and probably not to many people were named after food. blinking several times she dismissed this as merely coincidence and resumed her walking wondering if her little stunt had been noticed. probably. sighing as they got to the building and found it closed she nodded. "ah yeah it usually closes at around nine - since that's when most people go to sleep." she told him half joking. feeling her head hurt more and she moved to sit on the bench softly. "aishhh so tired. i wish i could sleep." she told him frowning. of course she knew that people with concussions should not sleep but at this moment she didn't care. "yah jong kyu come here." she told him moving to call him with her hand wondering if he would come. her mind still wrapped around the fact that there was a possibility this could be her jong kyu. for a second she didn't want it to be. after all they would be at an awkward stage in their relationship then, and what would she say to him. "where are you from?" she asked moving to softly tilt her head to look at him.

Smiling a little with her joke about everyone going to sleep by 9, JongKyu wasn't sure if she was being sarcastic or not. Assuming the best though, he figured she was genuine and not sarcastic, and so decided to leave the doorway and walk away from the pharmacy a little. When Kimchi then called him over, he turned to look at her, then with a casual twisting of his feet he turned the rest of his body towards her and then walked over to the bench where he first pulled up his pants casually so they wouldn't scrunch up weird and then sat on the bench next to her. He'd wanted to tell her she couldn't sleep because it could be dangerous, but then he didn't because he figured she already knew this. So not talking until she asked where he was from, JongKyu looked at her warily for a second then a smile appeared on his lips. "Where was I born? Or where did I come from before now?" he paused for a second to take in a deep breath and decided he'd answer both before she had to answer his question. "I was born in Seoul, and I lived there until...highschool? Then I moved to Busan with my...father...and uh, now i'm here..." he really despised the man that raised him, unsure of whether he was even his father.
