Why should I join this website?
Because it’s awesome.

Where do I post my application?
It depends on the state of your application. If you’re still working on it put it in the Unfinished Board. If you’re finished place it on the Main Application Board. If you finish your application and it’s on the Unfinished Board just politely bump it.

I posted in the Unfinished Board but then I left for a year, why was my application moved into the archive?
Well, if it’s been a while we will move your application. We only want you here if you’re honestly willing to be a part of our forum.

I see I need a role play sample, can this be from a character I played in the past?
Of course! Just let us see something you normally post.

Do I have to give a sample every time I apply?
As long as you have an accepted application on the site with a sample then you don’t need to do it again.

My application was denied! Can I throw a fit?
If you really want to but that might mean we have to send you to the moon. The right way to deal with denial is to swallow sadness like a boss.

Creation and characters

Can I make up my own creature?
Please, feel free to make up anything. However, if you make up a one winged hippogriff dragonicon with blue skin then please don’t have them stroll into town. Remember, we have some normies in Foxborough and creatures are trying to hide since us humans are hard to interact with.

If I want to suggest a plot can I?
Of course! Post it in our feedback forum: We want you to be creative here and if you have a good idea for a site-wide plot let us know. If we don’t think it would fit to well that won’t stop you from being able to make a small mini-plot.

I want a new character. When can I make them?
After at least 50 posts and be certain to handle them all.

I’m tired of my character, how can I get rid of it?
Let us know if you want it to be an adoptable character. But if you really want to drop a character—wait until the activity check so we know you don’t want them. If you just stop posting then we’ll assume you’ll left.

What does an NPC mean?
Traditionally, a non-player character (NPC) in a game is any fictional character not controlled by the player. However, in literary role plays a NPC is a character that you can control but isn’t a character that you need to write a full biography about. Remember, this isn’t a character that you play in full. They're secondary, generally unimportant and sometimes static characters.

What can NPC’s do?
An NPC can basically do anything that you want them to do so long as it isn’t too implausible. They do after all have the same limits as any normal character. They’re used as an extension of your character and can help further a plot or post. They can be a family member that’s important to your character, just somebody that bumps into yours while they’re walking, or anything. They can be as meaningful or insignificant as you want them to be.

What's the difference between a NPC and a Staff NPC?
Staff NPCs are used for informal admin duties and add flavour to the site. If the Admin account asks you to do something, it's a formal request, if a NPC asks you something, it's a suggestion.

Do I have to write a bio for my NPC?
Only if they’re really relevant to your character. If it’s just someone that they happen to run into in the park and say “hey” to we don’t need a bio. If it’s someone like an ex that re-emerges in town or a child, cousin, mother, or father then yes we would like a bio please thanks.

Do I need to make a new account for my NPC?
If they’re important and relevant to your character.

Can other people control my NPC?
If you allow them to make sure that they ask you!

Can I make my NPC into a real character?
Why of course you can! This has happened to me a few times where someone small becomes someone bigger and more relevant to the plot.

Can I make my character into an NPC? Well, if you’d like to. Or you can put them up for character adoption.

Do I have to post in face claims? Or claim my characters?
If you want something claimed you do, otherwise you risk getting forgotten: we’re jugging a lot of things so please post in our claims.

Someone’s using a face claim I want, could you make them change it?
Well, honestly no. You wouldn’t want us to ask you to stop using someone so somebody else could now would you? If someone wants to use Brad Pitt but he’s perfect for your character sadly you’ll have to choose someone else. Don’t be afraid to ask for help though.

Someone hasn’t been on for a while, can I use their face claim?
It depends on if they’ve gotten an excused absence. However, if they’re inactive Oz and I will talk about it.

I see some people post in code, use pictures, use lyrics, and make polyvore sets. What gives? Do I have to do that too?
Well, it does make the boards look pretty. While all the bells and whistles on a post look pretty, it’s the post we care about not the icing. You don’t have to but if you want to Oz and I aren’t stopping you. If you post in code make sure it looks nice, you can use a wonderful website like Caution 2.0 to find one or make one up all by yourself!

I have a really cool code I want to use for my character here, but it requires HTML
doHTML tags are enabled just about everywhere on the site, so if you'd like to use HTML simply put the [doHTML] tags around it. If it seems like doHTML is not enabled, let us know and we'll look into it. We had issues earlier, it's not just you!

How do I get images?
For Celebrities: IMDB, CAUTION 2.0, Find my Face, Hollow Art and other resource sites; you can also Google for fan pages that’ll have images. If you’re looking for other graphics try Flickr, DA, Wikimedia Commons- but make sure they are for stock use or you have the owner’s permission! We have a Credits Page that’s free for you to use- attribution is important! Also if you’re using a celeb then please post something tasteful! If your character’s drawn make certain to make sure it’s not lewd. We don’t want anything too elicit.

Wait, plagiarism? What are the consequences of plagiarism?
You will be deleted from our website. Plagiarism is taking someone’s ideas, pictures, or plots without letting them know and that’s no good. People put honest to goodness effort into their creations and you wouldn’t like your hard work getting stolen, would you? Of course not. If you want to role play like Sesshomaru, Sandra D., or Finn there are websites for you to play them as. If you want your character to be inspired by them make sure it’s not a cookie cut out of that character. We have a Credits Page, please feel free to use it. Remember though, if the image/idea is not free for use or you do not have expressed permission from the owner attribution is not enough.

Someone hasn’t been on for a while, can I use their character?
No. Unless they’ve put that character up for adoption then please make our own character. You’re creative, I’m sure you can think of something!

My character is a reflection of me and is being picked on/no one likes them and I’m taking them personally. What should I do?
Woe is life. Actually, try getting over it. Not every single solitary character will treat yours like a god. Our site may have IC villains and bullies but if you think it’s really affecting you then maybe this isn’t the site for you. Drama happens and while we are totally okay with it being IC just make sure it doesn’t spill over into the C-box.

I’m leaving, what do I do?
If you’re leaving forever let us know. If you’re leaving for a vacation let us know. Post in the LOA Forum and let us know how long you’ll be gone- don’t just pop into the C-Box and casually mention it. We’ll probably forget.

I replied to the activity check, I've been active, but I was still deleted! Why!?
If this happened to you, then it probably came with a ban. If we found you guilty of plagiarism, harassment, or anything that violates our rules or TOS we probably won’t allow you back here. If you’ve done none of these things I imagine we made a mistake and we’ll remedy it immediately.

Someone or someone's character swore, and that bothered me. Can you tell them to stop?
Well, we’re all adults, or soon to be adults here. People and characters swear. If you’re not mature enough for that maybe this site isn’t for you. We have a PG-13 rating after all. However, if someone’s being exceptionally crude or uncouth let us know.

I wanna role play sex! Where’s the private board that’s password protected?
Oh um. Take that to a private message or to an instant messenger. We don’t allow cybering—because I don’t care what you call it it’s cybering—on Floating Dreams. It is PG-13 here after all. So fade to black.

I find something totally and completely offensive here, what do I do?
Let us know and we’ll see if we can take care of it.

Someone is harassing me via PM/IM in the cbox, or in the OOC boards. What should I do?
Take a screenshot of the offense and PM or IM an administrator. We’ll take care of it.

I'm role playing with someone, and they're taking too long to reply! Make them reply.
Wow um patience is a virtue. We can’t make anyone reply and if they seem to be posting in other threads and not yours it’s their business not ours. If they’re blatantly ignoring you or something let us know.
