let's talk some Saints - Falcons

in case you all have not heard, we lost our starting DT and staring FB for the game. I know you guys are pretty banged up in your offensive backfield and defensive secondary. Being that this is in New Orleans, I am thinking New Orleans by about 10 points

thoughts?

If you only win by 10 points, I'd be pissed if I were you.

Everywhere you're strong, we suck shit.

2 things

1)Rivalry games often go against the expected

2)Smith does a great job at getting the Falcons up after a loss

NO by at least 24................... maybe 30.

Brees will have a career day and break his single game record and maybe Marino's last standing record. His arm will be tired at the end of the day.

YES, I HATE to say that, but it's really how I feel at this point.

WTF.gif at least I'm honest......

I'm not as pessimistic as some of my brethren but as lethal as the 'Aints are this year, I'm hoping the whole "rivalry" aspect at least makes it a close game, cause our secondary sucks cheese balls....... jezyk.gif

I bought a ticket the other day and was hoping I'd win that 200 million dollar lottery the other night too, but that didn't happen either.

AT my age, and after watching the Falcons same old bullshit year in and year out since 1974, longer than some people on this board have been alive, and not mentioning the fact I WAS a STH in 1985, 1986, and 1987, I've earned the right to be pessimistic. Bought and paid for with emotional let downs of supporting a losing franchise for 44 years.

Unlike some (and I called this secondary shit early on during pre-season) I don't wear rose colored glasses and drink the magic Kool Aid.

Started in 1976, my dad was STH 76-84, so I have "earned" the right right to be pessimistic but.....I refuse to be because I have seen and continue to see the organization "FINALLY" get it shit togther.

So fucking what if "Nawlins" kicks the shit out the Birds on Monday, the big picture shows a team that will have a winning tradition.

The defense is fucked, fine, I know it will be addressed in time. The old Falcons would have addressed the defensive issues by drafting a fucking tight end! Not these Falcons, no no no, it will be fixed...in time.

Rant over..... thumbsup.gif

HUH????? blink.gif unsure.gif

Nothing against Blank personally, he's probably a great man to know, but since he took over it's been one fuck up after another. The Smith tradition continues.

It started with firing Reeves....

continued with Mora, Knapp, and ConVick....

TD and Smith come in and have ONE good year and everyone thinks everything is fixed.... WTF.gif

Kind of like Bobby Cox and the Braves. ONE WS ring in what? 15 years.......
Gimme a fuckin' break. I don't even watch baseball anymore.

Sorry pal, but that don't cut it with me. And looking at the schedule, there MAY be 3 more wins in there. 4 at the most. Nawlins will kick the Falcons ass twice this year and even TB may split. Hell Carolina won't be a push over at home, even a blind hog finds an acorn on occasion.

There WAS plenty of cap space to keep a few of those defensive Vet's (at least Malloy and Foxworth) around during the re-building years while the younger players matured and the defense was revamped.

What was done with this defense is INFUCKINGEXCUSABLE and insane. Kind of like a DR going through the asshole to remove tonsils.

Who knows, maybe I'll have to eat crow and if so I'm man enough to kill and grill the fucker and admit I was wrong........ but I don't see no crow on my menu no time soon.

Now over the course of the next few years, hopefully Blank has them on the right track, but it'll take time (maybe 4-5 seasons) to tell....

and likewise - RANT OFF!!!!! thumbsup.gif cheers.gif

btw, How's the egg business doing? My family's taking a beating in the dairy business right now and friends with broiler houses are barely breaking even........

Doc, I expect pictures of the Crow-B-Q you will partaking in... thumbsup.gif

Otherwise, I'm not some sort of starry-eyed idealogue over-impressed with one winning season, I've been with this team for far too-fucking long, but I have seen smart drafts, free-agent signings, coaching adjustmenst, etc. Yeah there has been been some mistakes but compared to the previous years, there are fewer and further between.

Time Doc, time...get some bourbon and relax

Eggs are doing good, this flock won't go out till Feb., a month turnaround and the next flock will come in.

Has your family tried doing organic, non-pastuerized? There is a growing market for it.

Oh, and if you think the birds will lose to the Sucs at all this year, you need to turn on your compressor, put the blower chuck in, place in ear and squeeze...clear your damn brain out....

Hell you can come down and help me eat it. I'll smoke it and do some ribs or something as well and we'll just have a feast. fwiw - I'll put my ribs against anyone, anytime. Simply put, they KICK ASS.

And my liquor pantry is well stocked, especially since I quit drinking last year. Freaking BP problems........

Yeah we've explored a few options, but the herd is under contract until after the first of the year, so they can't take anything out. Kind of sucks.

Then the other problem is, raw milk can't be sold in GA for HUMAN CONSUMPTION. It has to be labeled for some other use such as Pet Food. Fucking bureaucrats. We'll get around the process though if they decide to pull that trigger. There's loopholes.

The biggest problem right now is grain prices and feed. This damn ethanol production is killing farmers. And for the life of me I can't understand why they keep pushing it.

At any rate, we both agree it''ll take time and patience. Just don't get to pissed at my lack of enthusiasm in the process. Like I always say, we can agree to disagree and still be friends.

And if I tried that compressor suggestion, the way my luck goes lately, I'd blow my freaking eyeball out. laugh.gif

anybody who looks at this game objectively would pick the Saints to win, but I am surprised at some of the pessimism and near hostility

it's a one in a million shot to take a franchise that is in the dumps and turn it around in one or two years. The Saints blew chunks in 2005 and have been building to this year since then. Some things look good on paper (Jason David) and just don't work out.

2 years ago the Falcons were in the shitter and made some good moves. Your coaches and front office WILL make mistakes, but I think you have staff smart enough to learn from those mistakes just like our coach had to mature with his playcalling.

The Falcons have a bright future ahead. you are 4-2 and most of what is wrong with your team could be covered by offseason free agency

Ahhhhh hell, we ain't hostile, just hard headed die hards set in our ways.

And speaking of play calling, that asshole in the booth calling plays for the Falcons..... IMHO, he needs to be ran the fuck outta here. But that's my opinion and you know what they said about those.

We're 4-2 now and headed towards 4-4 in the next few weeks.

There's one good thing about Monday nights game though............

I don't have cable or Sat-TV, so I won't have to watch it.
