Considering the polarity of talent in the NFL this year, there just should not be that much uncertainty about what is likely to happen from here forward. Things have really played out about as we would have expected so far: We KNEW it would be damn near impossible to win in New England (especially on a sloppy track) just as we KNEW it would be tough in Dallas (though we would have hoped for a better showing. Dallas isn't bad, they are inconsistent and had an extra week to prepare.

At the time, the 49'er win looked like the most "quality win" of the year . . . but maybe they had just been a fluke, they have been smacked around twice in a rowl now.

So here's how it looks to me:

Panic if:
We lose to Tampa (2 games) Washington, Carolina or Buffalo.
9-7

Be confident in making the playoffs if: We beat the Eagles
10-6

Likely to Advance in the Playoffs if: We beat the Jets
11-5

Still have a chance to win Division if: We beat the Saints Monday

Given our injury situation, where we were last year, and how we've played this year, I'd only be slightly dissapointed with 9-7 and I'd be pleased with 10-6.

Bottom line, I'm not gonna make myself crazy about Monday Night.

I'm not worried. Playoffs are great, beyond is better. BUT, all I REALLY want this year is a winning season and ya'll know why. After we get THAT lil' monkey off our back, then I'll start worrying about the bigger picture.

That is a totally pathetic mentality and I agree with you 110%!!!

I agree with it too, but I don't necessarily think it's a pathetic mentality.

Look at this team two seasons ago. We were an asbsolute joke.

Last season was a massive stride but with a significantly weaker schedule.

This season already we've beaten some good teams (Miami/Chicago), and granted, there is some work today, but we all knew that replicating 11-5 with the fourth toughest schedule in the NFL would be difficult.

I see us having a winning season this year, probably ten wins actually.

I have absolute faith in in TD and Smitty that we're going completely in the right direction.

So before we start worrying about Monday night, let's look at our remaining nine games.

Washington
@ Carolina
@ NYG
Tampa Bay
Philadelphia
New Orleans
@ NYJ
Buffalo
@ Tampa Bay

I certainly see at least five wins there, at least, and potentially another seven or eight.

THAT hurts.

And here we are, 4-3. We've beaten 4 poor to fair teams and lost to three pretty darn good teams (all 5-2 or better) on the road.

Don't panic until we lose in Carolina.

The toughest part of our schedule is done, I see at least 6 wins in the next 9.

I'm afraid of that game . . .

Me too.

I will never forget that 10-3 loss at the Dome when they played 80% of the game without a quarterback.

But our offense is strong enough to beat them in a shootout.

Pressure Delhomme all day long, and force him to make mistakes, and we win.

Well . . . I'm pretty sure that we played 100% of the game with a QB who had more Ganje going that Cheech and Chong . . . combined.

This was a game we should not have lost.

I fear for our playoff hopes.
