The Argus Watch

[Omnipotent Overlord]

Gordon is pottering around cleaning the place keeping it looking shiny new.

A rather dusty and worn out Sir Val enters the Argus Watch and heads to the bar where Gordon is standing cleaning the glasses and counter top.

"Well met Gordon, I trust you are doing well ? It looks a little quiet in here at the moment, but I am sure you will see a few thirsty adventurers passing through soon enough. Could I trouble you for the usual flagon of water if you would be so kind please ? Also, a little bread if you have some, thank you."

He pops the necessary funding on the table for Gordon, smiles and turns about to survey the new establishment, sparkling clean from his most recent efforts.

Heading to his seat, he lightly straps his shield to the back of it and returns to collect the water and bread, thanking Gordon and giving him a warming smile to brighten the mood, before sitting down and relaxing.

Sir Niall pushes open the doors to the Inn then strides in. He looks slightly battered and his shield is slung across his back. Looking around he spots Sir Val and smiles at him. He orders a tankard of mead and a short glass on spirits. Dropping the shot into the tankard he joins Sir Val.

"Sir Val, you survived then?"

He sits down with a sigh and nods at his drink,

"I'm going to miss the Troll Ale, especially as I'm far less likely to be in Golashkanev these days. I guess this concoction will suffice and is comparable in strength to the Trollish fare. I find the regular human ales too weak these days. I must have acclimatised to the Troll way of life more than I had imagined."

"Well met Sir Niall, yes I survived, thought my behind is still a little sore from that innoculation. I am sure we did not need such things, I feel somewhat desecrated, but I shall live, it has allowed me to open my eyes and see that there is more to life than keeping ones self couped up."

He smiles, and takes another bite of his bread and sip of his water.

"Yes, the potent odour of the Trollish ale definitely has little to match it here. Have you resolved your letter of curiosity regarding your place of stay, or has Golashkanev become less of a haven than you had thought ?"

Sir Niall shrugs,

"The problem is no longer mine to broker a solution for. The matter will directly affect my now sister order as I am now a Knight of Sash Il Olay. I would imagine it depends on the priorities that the Preceptor has for the Knights of the Code. All I would say is that neither the Knights of the Code or the Kingdom of Golashkanev will benefit if they were to part."

"Ah, tis a shame, but indeed I agree with your reference that to part would not do well for either. I hope that the matter can be resolved amicably and with a positive outcome for all."

He takes a firm grasp of his flagon and holds it up into the air.

"Here, to all the Knights of goodly orders, may they continue to serve and protect the people well!"

Sir Niall smiles and raises his tankard to toast.

Sir Niall looks thoughtful,

"Seeing as it looks like I'll be spending most of my time at our chapter house here in Prodigio. I feel like I've almost full circle, returning here in a different guise and under a different banner. The Prodigio Chapter House isn't accessible in the same way as it used to be when it was the Knights of the Code. We don't have the same staff or organisation. However, I can extend my personal invitation to you as before. Only this time the services available will be a little more Spartan."

Sir Val looks somewhat confused.

"I thank you once again for your hospitallity. Am I mistaken in thinking that the chapter house here in Prodigio is still now somewhat under the influence of one not of your order or sister orders ? Maybe I have been hit one too many times upside the head!"

He laughs at his own words, rubbing a particularly nasty bump recently acquired on the side of his head.

Sir Niall chuckles,

"You recall the ceremony where Sir Caelwin and I were promoted in our prior Order and then the ceremony to close the Prodigio Chapter House which followed. That marked the Exodus of the Knights of the Code from the Protected Zone."

Sir Niall sips his drink then continues,

"Apparently a short few days after this all occured the Chapter House was unsealed by the Knights of Sash Il Olay. It appears I will even be taking back my old private quarters. Unfortunately due to the nature of my new Order we will not be able to accommodate visitors and other petitioners in the way of the Knights of the Code. The Knights of Sash Il Olay are a much more simple, and purer, Order without the trappings that the Code grew accustomed to over the decades. We will have to perform most tasks ourselves and cannot afford the necessary personnel from our numbers to receive unannounced visitors. For all appearances the Chapter House still appears unoccupied which works to our advantage. From now on entrance will be gained by hammering loudly on the great doors and awaiting a reply from within."

Isobels enters from the room at the back looking board

Agatha enters alone, looking pale and with her arms wrapped tightly around herself. Without looking at or speaking to anyone, she hurriedly moves to the exact centre of the room and sits there, with her gaze noticeably avoiding ther corners.

Anyone close to her would hear mumbling, and notice the occasional shudder. However, every so often she hits herself on the leg, for no apparent reason, so violently that the whole room notices.

"Spiders... so many spiders... ew..."

Sir Val nods at Sir Niall, digesting the information and smiling with another sip of his water.

He nods politely and smiles at Isobel.

Missing the beat to welcome Agatha, Sir Val looks oddly towards her as she sits shuddering in the middle of the room. Then opens a wide sigh of relief when he hears the comment about spiders, a smile passes his lips along with a slight chill that shivers throughout his own back.

"Lady Agatha, you will be pleased to hear that I've seen not a single hide nor hair from any spider since I have entered this fine establishment, rest assured you should be safe here for the time being. Please, come and take a seat with us."

Standing up and pulling a second chair alongside himself and Sir Niall, he offers up;

"Isobel, why don't you please come and join us, perhaps you would like to hear recent tales of our latest escapades? That is, if Sir Niall does not mind the light chatter of good company?"

"Absolutely, there's safety in numbers and it is good to have friends for company."

[Tal'skar]

Tal'skar wanders into the Argus Watch, from the direction of the markets, wearing new robes and cloak. He heads straight to the bar, without noticing his apperrentice or his friends.

"Gordon, a bottle of spirits if you will, with a glass"

Turning to study the other patrons in the Watch, jumps with surpise to see Agatha sitting in the middle of the room. Then jumps again when he notices the rest of his friends.
Walking over to Agtha, and whispering into her ear "There is nothing to fear, the spiders will not get you here"

Then standing to his full height, address Sir Niall, Sir Val and Isobel,

"Hello again, friends, it seems we managed to live another day. Will you join me in a drink?"
