Eventually, the Earth could no longer sustain what life it held. Resources were being used faster than they could be replenished. There were too many people, both human and manamal. The world governments decided it was time to send some people off world. Probes they had launched decades earlier suggested there were worlds that people could survive, though it would take a while for them to get there.

One main concern they were having was that the actual breeding of the manamals was causing some to gain tangible intelligence, though it was a long way off to be a threat to the human way of life. The second concern was the rumors of ADAM. Word was spreading through their ranks that the first humanimal had actually survived, and his offspring had entered the humanimal workforce, and their genes were adding to the increase of intelligence, though as stated before it wasn't rising fast enough.

It was decided that each main power country would make an Array Rocket Carrier, or ARC, to send a portion of their population to a new, predetermined planet. Their hope was that it would be enough to put Earth back in balance. Ideas were thrown about of how to decide who would go.

The ARCs were built, and the notices were sent. Those selected said their farewells to their friends and families, and boarded the vessel, along with the needed personnel to make sure that their new world started without too many problems. They and their selected humanimals were all put into cryo-stasis, and the ships were launched, though more than had been agreed upon.

Little did these pioneers know that they'd never be sending word back to Earth, or hear anything back from them. Though the population drop was noticeable, it didn't stop the main eco-systems from collapsing, sending earth into Second Eden.
