Father just gave you to me. You’re quite an interesting feat of magic, did you know that? He put all of these enchantments on you so that nobody would ever be able to steal you from me. Supposed to keep me from worrying too much about losing you and having all of my “deepest, darkest secrets” exposed. I don’t suppose I have many such secrets at the moment, considering I just turned 11. I mean, life has been pretty normal in the life of Jessica Sophia Bennett. Let me introduce myself. My name’s Jessica Sophia Bennett. Age 11. Today’s actually my birthday! In fact, earlier today, I received my Hogwarts letter. I am so, so excited. I can’t wait until I can actually do, well... “legal” magic. Father’s let me play around with his wand sometimes, and I’ve managed to do a couple spells myself, but it’s just... it’ll feel so official, you know? I can’t wait to go to school and learn all about potions and all that stuff. James, the Potter boy, went to Hogwarts last year, and he apparently had a blast. He’s been teasing me all summer about how badly I’m going to do at school, scaring me with stories about ghosts and poltergeists and creepy things coming out to eat me at night. I hate him so much sometimes! He treats me like SUCH a baby. He’s only one year older than me, you know. Anyways, we’re going shopping in Diagon Alley tomorrow. So excited!

So, I have bought all of my school supplies, and Mother got me my own owl! Haven’t got a name for her yet, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something. Anyways, enough about that - I have a wand! You can’t see me, but I’m twirling around with happiness! I’m so excited for school, but I suppose you already know that. Already told you that yesterday. Anyways, my wand is 10 ¾ inches Holly wood with a Dragon heartstring core. It’s apparently really powerful, according Ollivander. That man might be crazy, but I gotta say - he seems pretty brilliant! Well, school’s starting in less than a month, and I don’t really have anything to do at home... so I guess I’ll start reading. Wouldn’t do to fail, I’d never hear the end of it from all of our family friends. Blah. Sometimes, I kind of wish I was Muggleborn. Then I wouldn’t feel so much pressure from everyone to do well. Especially since I don’t have any siblings, so our entire family is looking at me.

Well, it’s off to King’s Cross Station tomorrow to board the Hogwarts Express. I’ve got everything in my trunk: my robes, my books, my cauldron, my potion-making kit, etc etc To be honest, once I put my mind to it, I actually got through reading many of my books, so I imagine I’ll be okay for the first... at least half of the school year. Hogwarts, a History, though it sounds rather boring, is actually an interesting read. It’s amazing what’s in that castle that I’ll be calling home for the next couple of months. I’ve also managed to master a few spells on my own, you know - lumos, alohamora, etc etc. They seem to be quite useful. I’ve discovered a few secrets in our own Manor over this last month. Well, journal, I suppose I’ll take you to Hogwarts. Father’s given me his word that nothing bad will happen to you... that nobody will even try to steal you. Once again, it’s not like I have anything to hide... though who knows what will happen in the future. Farewell Bennett Manor.

Well, Gryffindor I am. The hat was thinking about putting me in Ravencalw but... I dunno. It decided upon Gryffindor, I suppose. I guess that makes sense. I’m not... that smart, I guess. I dunno what people would say. It’s not that I’m a bookworm or anything, it’s just that books sometimes contain useful information... James is being a prick as normal, but I met this girl - she seems to be pretty awesome. Her name is Lily Evans. She’s a muggleborn, which is why you’ve never heard of her name. Not that there’s anything wrong with being Muggleborn. Thank Merlin the Bennetts aren’t one of those families that actually cares that much about blood purity. Sure, some... older members of our family might care, but Mother and Father don’t. They’ll be pleased to know that I’ve made a new friend, I suppose. She’s a second year this year, so she’s a year above me, but that doesn’t matter. She seems to be pretty cool. I’ve made a couple new friends in my own year, but... I dunno. Lily seems to be pretty cool. She told me a bit about the school that I didn’t know before (from the books, I mean). She seems to be pretty smart, too, so... I hope we can become really good friends. I met some of James’ other friends, too - Sirius (Black) and Remus (Lupin), and there’s that Peter Pettigrew boy, but I don’t really know that much about him. He seems to be just this person that hangs around Sirius and James and Remus. It’s a bit awful the way they laugh at him, to be honest. If I were to say so, it would appear as though he idolizes them. How, though, I cannot say. James is absolutely awful which is one of the opinions Lily and I share. Well, classes tomorrow. Can’t stay up too late. Love you!

((Jessica’s time at Hogwarts was pretty normal, that is, except for her somewhat rocky friendship with the Marauders. She was a grade below them, but considering her long... relationship you could call it, with James and her same penchant for causing a little bit of trouble, they were pretty close. Of course, she was never considered completely part of their little “group,” but she was close enough. Other than that, she was considered a fairly popular girl, but nobody seemed to really know her. She was one of those girls that everyone seemed to like, nobody seemed to particularly hate, but when it came to picking that one best friend or that one really good friend of yours, she was never picked. Not even with her best friend, Lily, for Lily’s best friend at the time was still Severus Snape. Not that she wasn’t best friends with Lily, just in a different way. She was Lily’s best girl friend. To be honest, Jessica didn’t really care for the boy - she actually didn’t have an opinion, but she just merely sided with Lily in whatever came up. She was loyal to her friends, after all, and she was glad that Remus appeared to agree with her in that. Other than, though, she mostly just stuck with her studies - she excelled, made a bit of trouble here and there, and kept her nose fairly clean. She made the Gryffindor Quidditch Team at a relatively young age as a chaser in her second year, but considering her family background, it really wasn’t that much of a surprise. Her father had been Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team himself, with her mother being the Seeker of Ravenclaw during her time at Hogwarts.))

Well, it’s back to Hogwarts for my fifth year. Got made Prefect, though I suppose you could say that it’s not a surprise, considering my grades and everything. I got a shiny Prefect badge! Other than Lily and Remus, though, all of my friends weren’t that happy. That is, until I promsied I wouldn’t be too harsh during their shenanigans. Honestly, I don’t even know how I became a Prefect, at times, all things considered. I have a lot of friends, and not all of them are.... model students. Surely I’m not expected to be a mood-killer! Anyways, you know, I gotta say, I must applaud Father on his fine work on you. You’ve lasted me for a little over five years, and it’s not like I use you that sparingly. I’ve basically written in you every single day since the day I got you, and still, there’s still pages and pages and pages left to write. I have an inkling that Father put a spell on you so you’d last till my Hogwarts graduation. Just an inkling, though that would be very convenient. You’re basically my best friend, besides Lily. I’m on the train right now, sitting beside her in the Prefects compartment. There’s going to be a meeting soon. Remus is here, too. This is all so very new and exciting. I hope I don’t screw up, but it seems that I have a lot of responsibilities just flying in this year. I don’t know how Lily manages it, though then again, she isn’t on the Quidditch team. Considering how long I’ve been flying (thanks to Father and James), it’d be a shock if I wasn’t. Sorry, that sounded a bit vain. Eh, whatever. Hey - I gotta go. Head students are calling the meeting to order.

Jessica's head hurt. No, it didn't hurt. Hurt did not even begin to cover the amount of pain she was in. It was as if her entire brain was throbbing, pulsating, threatening to explode. For Merlin's sake, what was wrong with her? This was just university, not the trial of her life. Class today hadn't even been that hard. Today had been a lecture-based course, basically, a normal class. It wasn't the physical fitness/training portion, it was just class. Perhaps that was the problem. The teacher had just gone on and on and on about various regulations and rules that aurors couldn't break. To be honest, she wasn't that interested in that. She'd joined to be in the midst of the fray, waving her wand around while punishing bad guys. Hell, her wandwork was good enough - her hexes were fast, her reflexes were good, and her magic was strong. She had definitely not registered for this aurorship program to listen to about a hundred different violations that could lead to her losing her badge. A badge that she did not yet possess. Her head was going to explode. It was shoved to the maximum with needless information - and get this - they were being tested on this information by the end of the week. People had all said that the Aurorship program was hard and grueling, but this was... this was cruel and unusual. She'd rather run a hundred laps around the Quidditch pitch than sit through another lecture about accidentally unleashing a hex on an innocent citizen. Like... who would be that dumb?
Oh - and on Valentine's Day, too. Today was Monday, February 14, the most romantic day of the year, and their teacher had unleashed just about the driest, most boring lecture in her entire repertoire. After all, what could be worse? An in-depth look on how uniform-code violations degraded you through a series of warnings? She shuddered inwardly at the thought. Walking through the hallways of Katalang Hall, Jessica's trademark four inch heels clicked against the hard floor. She'd gotten out of class for the day - it was a late morning lecture, and she'd already grabbed lunch, too - so all she wanted to do was go back to her room, and just... die. Thankfully, she actually liked her roommate. In the state she was in right now, if she had a roommate she hated... she might be the first one in her class to have a first-hand, interactive lesson in what they had learned about today, complete with the demoting and the scary yelling and the angry-faced officials.
Whatever. Class was over, done with. She could forget about it until tomorrow morning, their morning training sessions. At least that was fun. It was physical, it was running, it was exercise. Jessica thrived on those kinds of things - she'd been an excellent Quidditch player back at Penrose, and she'd kept in fit shape since graduation. The University was still hunting for a new Quidditch coach, but she'd definitely be trying out once they hired one. Unless there was some hotshot in the Magical Games and Sports that was basically in training to be a professional athlete, she was pretty confident in her abilities. One never knew though... and so the Auror fitness training really killed two birds with one stone. Her footsteps slowed to a gradual stop, her feet finally ending their walk in front of a large door, marked with a plaque bearing two names.

Home, sweet home. She fished a small key out of her backpack, inserting its teeth into the small hole above the door handle, and turned it, hearing the clicks as the door became unlocked. Key still in hand, she turned the handle, eyes looking onto a familiar sight. The door shut behind her naturally, and she walked across the room to the bed next to the wall with the window. Its black and white sheets were neatly made, and there were two plumped pillows sitting at the head of the bed. A body pillow lay along the length of the bed, next to the wall, and a small throw blanket was... well, thrown... casually atop of the sheets. Throwing her black backpack onto the bed, she fell onto the soft sheets, basking in the gentle comfort of the non-stressful atmosphere. She kicked off her heels haphazardly, and they landed across the room, right next to her roommates' bed. That was when she looked up, noticing that her roommate was actually in the room already.
"Oh, hey - sorry, I didn't see you there. Agh. I'm so out of it. Whats up? Did you have a class this morning?" A bright, gleeful smile lit up her face, filled with her normal lively energy. It was really hard to hate her, and most people took to her easygoing nature rather naturally. Her roommate, Hanna, was no exception, and since they'd met each other on move-in day, they'd become good friends. Of course, Joey would always be her... best friend... if you could even call him that, but this girl and Jessica... yeah, they were pretty close. Her two hands came up to her eyes, rubbing them slightly. If she was a Muggle, she would've worried slightly about disturbing/smudging her makeup, but she'd taken care of that. Glamour charms and makeup ensured that her face looked fine - not that it needed much help, anyways. She'd gone through the usual routine of eyeliner, mascara, just making her face look like it should. Her face without makeup always looked really young - she hated that. Thankfully, the long scratches down the side of her face from the night spent at Hoon's house had all but disappeared, and all she'd needed was a little of a small charm to make the remnants of the scars unnoticeable. Hoon... she hadn't run into him yet, but that could possibly be because she'd avoided going to Narrie/Tally as much as possible since that strange night. It would be harder in the future, though, thanks to her new position as the intern for the DADA professor. What had she even been thinking? The real professor wasn't even there anymore, the school was still searching for a replacement, and every week she went, there was a chance that she'd run into him. Whatever - it was all for the sake of her future. She was hoping that the fact that she'd interned under Defense Against the Dark Arts that it'd look favorable once she became an actual Auror. The little did help.
Jessica sat up slightly, her head lifting up off the bed as she propped herself up on her elbows. She looked at the other Korean girl, smile still on her face. "You wouldn’t believe how sore I am."
