well blimey, mate, it's 1975! the marauders are in their sixth year at hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry, and there's something mysterious going on. there have been rumors of a dark lord rising to power, and it's making everyone nervous. people are disappearing, muggleborns murdered - the scene is becoming increasingly worse, and the worst part about it all? nobody really knows what's going on. it's currently the month of november, and the outlook is beginning to become darker with each passing day.

the interrogator is a squat little man with a moustache, presumably from the ministry. he clears his throat and promptly begins. "miss evans, i appreciate your promptness. i understand this is a bit of a delicate topic for you and i only ask that you answer my questions to the best of your ability." he gives a small smile before continuing. "i understand you came upon the body out on the grounds. where were you headed when you found the boy?"
"I wouldn't dare be late. [grimaces] I'd rather just get this over with as quickly as possible. [pauses and sighs] I was just stepping outside for some fresh air when I discovered the body - I had spent most of the day studying for an upcoming potions exam and then had to deal with a couple of particularly reckless third year students who thought it would be entertaining to set off a handful of dungbombs outside of the transfiguration classroom. I just needed some air, that's all."

the man nods, feeling increasingly awkward and worrying that the interrogation might get emotional. "i understand. i'll be sure to keep it as brief as possible." he gives her yet another smile, this one looking a bit forced, and scribbles something down on his notepad. "i see. and, when you discovered the body, did you notice anything odd about it? any markings on or near it? any strange objects in the general area?"
"Thank you. [manages a weary smile that quickly fades] To be honest, I didn't really notice anything other than the fact that he was ... dead. All the light was gone from his eyes, the color gone from his face ... I'm sorry. I wish I could tell you more, but there really wasn't anything extraordinarily strange about it, other than finding a dead body on the grounds. [grimaces] To me, it just seemed like he was the poor victim of the Killing Curse."

he scribbles something down and looks back up at her. "it seemed that way to us, as well. quite unfortunate..." he clears his throat and shifts a bit in his seat. "now, i understand there's quite a rivalry between gryffindor and slytherin. it's been like that since i was a student. however, i've been told there are a few students who seem to take the rivalry a bit too far. miss evans, what can you tell me about severus snape?"
[looks down at her hands somberly] "What about Sev? [gaze snaps back up] You don't think that he could have - oh no ... no, he couldn't have. Severus may be a Slytherin, but he's not evil. It's those friends of his. [bites lip and leans back in chair defeatedly] I don't think that this whole thing is happening because of some stupid house rivalry. This is much bigger than that. Do you think that it was a Slytherin that murdered that boy?"

he scribbles something down and looks back up at her. The man scratches his head, then scribbles yet another something on the notepad. He is beginning to wonder why he is questioning teenagers. ”Miss Evans, I’m not at liberty to divulge that kind of information.” He shifts in his seat, still rather confused. ”Now, I believe we were discussing Severus Snape. I understand he’s prone to violence. I’ve been told he’s attacked other students. Can you tell me anything about that?” The man wonders if his wife will be cooking tonight. He isn’t in a take-out sort of mood. ”And, while we’re on the subject, what can you tell me about these ‘friends’ of his?”
