Evera shrugged, “Yea I know but it’s just worse knowing exactly what kind of person I’m going to be stuck with. He’ll be a pompous jerk who most likely buy’s into his family’s whole high and mighty bullshit and will be just the same as every other guy my parents have tried to steer me towards.” she says with a shake of her head, and a eye roll that showed just what she thought of the traditions held by purebloods. For a diminutive moment Evera’s face went blank as she stared at Sev with the realization that she might have said tipped him off on her beliefs about the blood supremacy. However she quickly tried to change the subject, stopping when he started speaking again. Her eyebrows scrunched up in confusion and she tilted her head for a moment. “So your dad won’t try and pair you off with some pureblood witch who can carry on the name by giving you lovely pureblood babies?” she asked with a hint of sarcasm in her tone and a wave of her hand. She knew her father was most likely looking over the selection for her as well; making sure whoever married into her family was of proper nobility and the like.

He nodded his head slowly as she continued to explain, but didn't comment. To be honest he couldn't understand why the Purebloods were so eager to continue with their old traditions and the like because inter-breeding was sure to cause some problems later on down the road... As a matter of fact, some Half-Bloods and Muggleborns were more powerful when it came to Magic because it wasn't as diluted. Like Lily for instance... or himself. He smirked slightly when she brought up his Father. "Well... I've been meaning to tell you something and now is as good a time as any, I suppose. I'm a Half-Blood. My Father is a Muggle. He's not really supportive of me being Magical, let alone dating someone Magical or carrying on the name of Snape, since all of my children - if I have any - will be labeled as 'freaks' in his eyes."

This time Evera couldn’t hid her expression of shock at his confession. Her eyebrows rising and her mouth opened slightly as to say something. ‘He’s a halfblood? Well that’s one hell of a secret.’ she thought to herself while mulling over this new information. God’s if other slytherins were to find out they’d alienate him for sure, his life would be hell. She understood perfectly why he would keep that information to himself and suddenly felt a burst of pride at the fact that he had confided such a big secret with her. After all Evera was still a slytherin and they weren’t very well known for their trustworthy nature, however she wouldn’t dare tell anyone. She knew what it was like to keep secrets from her own. Only one question plagued her mind now. “Wow…that’s a big secret. I’m going to assume you haven’t told anyone about that right, except for Lily?” she asked him for her own awareness. She bit her lip pensively as she searched his face and thought back to the few years she’d known him. “Feel free to ignore this question if you want but I’m just…curious I mean if you’re a halfblood then why do you try so hard to fit in with Malfoy and the likes of them. You know…dark and sinister.” she asks his with a perplexed expression. I mean was his friendship and interest in them all an act or was he seriously on that path himself?

He watched her reaction with a guarded expression now, wondering if he could really trust her or not. Evera was another Slytherin after all and she may very well use this new information against him. Severus hated to imagine how he would be treated afterwards... He took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he waited for her to say something; anything. He raised an eyebrow at her first question though. "That's right." Snape nodded slowly. "Most of it is just an act so they won't notice or pry too much into my life. But I have to admit that there is a part of me which some consider 'dark' or 'sinister.' I just figure that if I keep my friends close and my enemies closer then I'll be better off."

Evera nodded her head slowly a lot of her old curiosities cleared up at this revelation. She'd always wondered what made Severus so different from the rest of their pure blooded housemates. Most slytherins don't even like to associate with muggleborns in class let alone outside of it, and yet Sev had always been very close friends with Lily a known muggleborn and gryffindor. This news cleared it all up some what, after all why would he hate muggleborns on site if he's part muggle himself. She wondered whether anyone else had ever had their suspicions about him, however it's not as uncommon to come across a slytherin who doesn't judge based on such superficial things...well okay maybe that's an exaggeration. Slytherins are after all notorious for being stuck up and superior. She tilted her head to one side as he spoke about why he is the way he is, not really expecting him to answer such a forward question. "That's actually a very smart moto, especially in the house of slytherin. I'm not so ridiculous to care as much as most of our peers but I do understand your motives...Were not the most trustworthy at least most of us. You can trust me Sev, I just want you to know that. As for your dark side...I have noticed you take an interest in the dark arts. I just wasn't sure weather it was purely educational with you." she says with a shrug and crooked smile to release some of the tension from their deep discussion.

"Mm..." Severus gave a noncommittal grunt. In that moment he wished he could tell Evera more, but he had already revealed enough of himself in one sitting. Despite his lineage, he found most Muggles to be quite distasteful and over half of the ones he knew were anti-Magic in such a way that he was convinced Witch burnings were not too far off... Then again, on the other hand, he wondered why the two worlds were kept so separate from each other. The Magical world had made some pretty awesome advancements throughout history which could help the Muggle world and vice versa. He would test Evera with this information and if she could keep it to herself - like she claimed - then he may decide to tell her more. Right now though only time would tell how deep / far she could get. "Some of my interest in the Dark Arts is educational... some of it isn't." Snape said vaguely with a roll of his shoulders.

“I suppose most of my interest in the dark arts, however minimal is mostly educational. For me dark magic gives me a sense of being wicked when in reality my bark is worse than my bite. I can be real nasty and evil sometimes but most of it’s just my tough girl act…I’m really a sweetie at heart.” she says giving him a playful wink at the last part and laughing lightly. She knew most people thought of her as just another slytherin girl, snobby and self-righteous but really she wasn’t. Perhaps it was such things like her sarcasm and general nonchalant attitude that made her out as such. She once heard it be said that she thought she was better than everyone else simply because she usually chose to be alone, when really she just wasn’t that sociable of a person. Sure she had friends and she loved to party, but most people don’t get to see that side of her until they’ve really started to get to know her. “I suppose it’s my turn now and I should give you something just as juicy in details.” she says with a sign. Where to start? She’d been trusted with so much information by Sev so it was only fair of her to entrust him with her own secrets right? She thought of the people he hung out with occasionally and wondered whether there was any chance he’d spill even by accident. She couldn’t afford any of this getting to her brother. Hell she knew if he did say anything she’d have equally enough chance to ruin him in return, but she knew deep down he wouldn’t, whether out of fear for his own secrets or trust and respect she’d find out sooner or later. “I think all this dark lord shit is bollocks.” she says while looking down at her hands as she picked at her black chipped nail polish. “I come from a family who fully supports the dark lord and his “cause” but I believe it’s somewhat wrong… Sure purebloods are superior in the sense that the magic in our bloodline is strongest and it’s deeply rooted but where would the wizarding world be without muggles to help us breed. We’d be nonexistent without them…we need them .” she says with a shrug. "I've defied my family and interacted with muggles, and I've actually enjoyed myself doing it..." she says in a low voice.

He nodded his head slowly as he listened to Evera speak. So she too knew how to put on a good act. He was silent though. Severus waited for her to reveal something secretive and personal. The only reason why he wanted this information was for equal exchange though. He had no desire to spill the beans on anyone and, as a matter of fact, he was very good at keeping his mouth closed which came in part from hiding his true self from almost everyone around him. He smirked at her next comment, giving her a small nod of encouragement. If they couldn't trust each other then this relationship wasn't going to work. He waited. He was rewarded handsomely as soon as the Slytherin girl opened her mouth again. He raised his eyebrows. So... she thought that the Dark Lord was bullocks, eh? He couldn't help but to nod even more at what she said. "Yeah... I know what you mean." But then again he was part Muggle himself so of course he understood that world better than most of the Slytherins anyway. "Some Muggles are all right, I suppose."

Evera looked up from messing with her nails and looked at Sev when he said he understood what she meant. ‘Why wouldn’t he understand, after all he is partly muggle. He might just be one of the only few in her house who understood, except for Andromeda that is.’ She thought with a tiny smirk. Andromeda Black, who came from an even more well known pureblood family and wasn’t afraid to be openly different. How many times had Evera called her a blood traitor since they’d started here at Hogwarts, quite a few? She didn’t anymore but only because of the knowledge that if it weren’t for her keeping secrets she’d also be a blood traitor. She’d lose her family and her friends…at least most of them. “I’m a complete coward you know…I’ve always wanted to just say fuck all to everyone and what they think. Hell that’s my motto don’t worry about what others think of you. But I’ve never counted this. I guess it’s because the thought of being an outcast in my own family kinda terrifies me.” she says with a sad smile as she brushed her hair away and behind her ear. “So you see I’m also very good at pretending even though I know that if I ever want to live my own life for me…I’m going to have to come out to everyone as a fraud.”

"Hm... Well... as a general rule I think most Slytherins are good at pretending because the majority of us are always wearing a mask of some kind." He nodded his head slowly. "I have a similar fear... If someone unworthy discovers my past then I'll be labeled as an outcast and there won't be any safe haven left for me here at Hogwarts when that happens." He shrugged his shoulders. "I mean, when I was really close to Lily most people questioned it at first, especially when I got older, but some of the boys thought I was just trying to get under her skirt." Severus smirked.

Evera nodded her agreement, “Yes we are good at that aren’t we, I think it’s a slytherin trait.” she says with a smirk. Slytherin house wasn’t the place to make true friends in Evera’s opinion because you never knew who was being real, and who was being fake. She’d always counted herself as real because she never lied to her most trusted close friends but thinking about it now she assumed most of her peers would say she’s fake. This realization just made her feel worse about her secrets and how she was fooling everyone. She listened to his fear and gave a soft smile her hand finding his as she signed. “Well looks like that’s another thing we have in common…don’t worry if it ever happens you won’t be an outcast to me. We secret blood traitors and half-bloods need to stick together.” she says with a slowly widening smile. At the mention of his relationship with lily she nodded slowly, pursing her lips. “I know Lily doesn’t like me…probably thinks I’m out to get her or something but really it’s not that. Hell I was rooting for you two, your friendship that is. She’s good for you…” she says with a crooked smile and shrug of her shoulders. The only reason she felt as if she should say this was because she didn’t want any hostility between her and Lily to undermine Sev’s decision on her, she knew Lily would probably tell him she was horrid since her few on us slytherins was slowly being colored by Potter.

Severus lowered his head for a moment. "Sometimes I wish we didn't have to hide ourselves at all..." He would give anything for the freedom to decide what he wanted to do with his life rather than have others point him down the path that he was supposed to take. He smirked when she said that they could be outcasts together if their fears became realized. He didn't doubt her claim either. He raised an eyebrow at her final comment, which he found interesting. "Yeah... well..." He trailed off uneventfully. What exactly should he say to that? Snape still had feelings for the redhead Gryffindor; deep and confusing emotions that were pulling him in two different directions. On one hand was the life of the outcast; always ridiculed and bullied. On the other was the life of the proper; doing what people thought he should do, not what he really wanted to do. "I don't know what I want anymore."

Evera snorted at his first statement knowing that they’d never have the luxury, hell maybe Severus would since he really wasn’t from their world of blood supremacy and the likes so he wouldn’t be expected to act in such ways, but she’d never get the chance to be herself without breaking her ties to everything she knew. “Yea…unfortunately I don’t think that will happen anytime soon for us. At least not while were here.” she says with an eye roll and shrug. She smiled at his smirk at her remark and gave sent him a flirty wink as well. She wanted to make it known to him that he could trust her, that even with her teasing she could be serious and did take him and his secrets seriously. She watched him assuming he would tell her something along the lines of how much Lily disliked her and perhaps even some twisted versions of what she’d said to Lily during their last encounter. She knew Lily thought she was horrid and really Evera couldn’t understand why. After all she’d done nothing but try and give her helpful advice. Then again Lily’s idea of helpful and right was mighty twisted at the moment. It seems like Potter’s turned into some kind of God in her eyes, unable to do no wrong. “What do you mean? What you want out of what exactly?” she asked with a curious look and tilt of her head.
