Healing had always been Adonis Wickham’s passion in life. As a student he’d spent hours going through the procedures he’d hoped to one day do and because of his amazing grades he’d been able to become a Healer. Well at least for a little while. Adonis’ Healer dreams had been put on hold when he’d had a daughter and soon it had become clear that life for them would have been easier if he’d taken up another profession. So he did, he left St. Mungos and took up a teaching job at Hogwarts when his daughter had turned six. If he couldn’t be a Healer then he would teach others how to be one and for the last ten years he’d been happy in his professional life. He loved knowing he was making a difference in the field that he loved. Thanks to his teaching style his class had always been popular but small. Now Adonis had been faced with a big problem. With the merger of the three schools he’d gotten a big influx of students signed up for his class. He’d gone from having enough students to fill two classes a week and be able to do some side jobs at the hospital to having to take up a class every day and well he hadn’t seen the hospital in over two months. It had been a big adjustment, but he’d managed it and thus his professional life was still going amazingly.
It was currently his personal life that had Adonis walking aimlessly around the school grounds wearing what Daphne, his daughter, had always called his worry face. A man like Adonis had many things to worry about, the first always being his daughter, Daphne was the center of his world but at sixteen he was beginning to realize that all too soon she was going to be fully grown and would leave him. It was the cause of great concern to him that thought was. Then there was the fact that no matter how hard he tried he couldn’t keep a relationship going. His latest one had been set up by a former student of his and had, had all the markings of a good one. But well Adonis just hadn’t tried hard enough with her and the witch had stopped answering his owls. His mother was proving to be right, he was going to end up a lonely old man if something didn’t change. Sadly though it was neither his daughter or lack of personal life that had him making his rounds with the face, no his latest concern came in the form of a different family member.
Adonis had been blessed with an older brother and a much younger sister. Ares had always been right on track with life while Athena, well she’d skidded off the tracks somewhere around the age of fifteen and hadn’t found her way back. At twenty three the girl had all the makings of a great Attorney expect for her love of drugs and scotch. That morning Adonis had received a very frantic owl from his mother explaining that Athena had skipped out on her latest rehab run and was currently missing in action. No one had heard from her in three days. Before the merger Adonis would have had no issues running up to August Fletcher’s office and telling the guy that he needed a few days to go track down his wayward little sister. Now though he had two other bosses that he was pretty sure wouldn’t be as understanding. “Damn it, Athena,” he mumbled to himself as he rounded the corner of the castle that would lead him back to the main entrance. It was at that moment that he ran smack into someone else that had been rushing off into the other direction. He reached out and clasped his hands around the person’s shoulders to steady them.
“I’m so sorry, I should have been watching where I was going,” he apologized looking at the top of what was clearly a female students’ head. “Are you alright? Nothing hurts right?” he’d only bummed into the girl but one could never be sure about things like that. He did teach Healing after all.

Rose Walsh hadn't been a student at Hogwarts for over seventeen years. And, yet, it had been very easy to fall back into the swing of things. Sure, she was kind of disconnected from the current teenage culture, but she'd never had trouble falling into the right crowds in the past. She'd purchased a few magazines, eavesdropped on a couple of conversations, and brushed up on some of her basic spell work. None of her old professors were currently teaching at Hogwarts, so she hadn't had to worry about anyone recognizing her. She had encountered some professors she'd once attended school with, but they'd simply gone through the roster as if everything were normal. They probably figured she somehow related to the Rose Walsh they vaguely remembered. She did have a sister, Lyla, as well as various cousins. No one thought anything of her reappearance in the halls. Sure, she hadn't aged a single day since she was eighteen years-old, but no one at Hogwarts knew that. So far, everything had been smooth sailing.
She'd come to Hogwarts with one thing in mind: Daphne. She'd hoped to simply watch Daphne fro afar and perhaps pick up some information about the girl from a distance. But, the mother in Rose had won out and she'd put everything at risk by reaching out to the girl one day during class. She couldn't resist. She had to know Daphne. She wanted to know everything. Rose knew that it sort of defeated the purpose of hiding out for the past sixteen years, but she'd desperately missed Daphne. So much that it had physically hurt her to see the girl. She wanted to hug her and apologize for missing out on everything. But, she'd done her best to play it cool. She couldn't be Daphne's mother. It would be too weird of a concept for the girl to grasp. The first day of classes, Rose had been worried that Daphne might recognize the surname 'Walsh' and start asking questions. Or, worst, mention it to Adonis. But, thankfully, it would seem that Adonis hadn't mentioned anything to Daphne about her mother, least of all her last name. So, to Daphne, Rose was just some Ravenclaw girl who was interested in hearing all about the type of clothes Daphne liked, what kind of music she listened to, and which boys she thought were cute.
One thing Rose hadn't counted on? Adonis Wickham. He came crashing into her (quite literally) like an extremely unexpected blast from the past. She'd figured Hogwarts was safe ground, considering he was a Healer. However, no one had informed Rose that Hogwarts now offered Healing courses taught by her estranged husband. She hadn't seen him in the Great Hall for meals, since he generally was trying to balance work between Hogwarts and St. Mungos. Daphne hadn't mentioned anything, since she was a sixteen year-old girl and sixteen year-old girls had a million other things to talk about besides their fathers. So, when Adonis bumped into her in the hall, it took Rose a few minutes to fully gather what was going on. His voice was different, so she didn't immediately recognize it. Then again, Adonis had aged a good sixteen years, whereas Rose was exactly the same. So, of course he'd be different in almost every respect. So, without looking up, Rose said apologetically, "Oh, I'm sorry, Professor. I wasn't looking where I was going either." Feeling the professor's hands on her, attempting to steady them both, Rose eventually looked up and into the eyes of the man she'd left behind.
Her first thought? "Oh shit." She didn't say that thankfully, but it was definitely her knee-jerk response to the situation. This was exactly what she'd wanted to avoid. How was she going to handle this? She was standing facing her husband, whom she hadn't seen for sixteen years, and she hadn't aged a single day. How was she going to explain this? Should she even bother? Part of her just wanted to run off in the opposite direction. But, that might arouse more suspicion than needed. Maybe she could play it off as mere coincidence. Yep, she was going to go with feigning ignorance. Despite the fact that her heart was racing and her body felt like it was on fire, Rose was going to play it cool. "I'm alright, though. No serious damage," she insisted, offering an innocent smile. Yep, ignorance was bliss. Considering Adonis was a very logical man, he couldn't possibly believe that this girl he was looking at happened to be the same woman who'd walked out on him and Daphne years ago. The rational part of him would know that to be an impossibility. At least, that's what she was counting on...

Adonis was a pretty grounded guy, he didn’t take to flights of fancy, and have nervous break downs or anything of that nature. That being said he was pretty sure he was hallucinating at that very moment in his life. There were a lot of factors to support that. He was overly stressed and he had been working tons more than normal so it was possible that he was actually pretty exhausted. He hadn’t felt sick that day, but that didn’t mean anything he could have been running a fever and he wouldn’t know anything about it. There were plenty of excuses for what was standing in front of him, all of them supported by one of his millions of medical theories. He could even have what muggles called a brain tumor, sometimes people hallucinated very real things or at least things that were real to them when they had those. He’d have been a liar if he’d ever said he’d never thought of the woman he saw in front of him, or the girl in front of him that looked exactly like the woman he thought about a lot more often than he ever admitted. If he wasn’t hallucinating than fate really was the bitch that everyone said she was and it had picked him to be cruel to by putting a student in the school that looked exactly like Rose, his wife and mother of his daughter. This girl even sounded exactly like his Rose, enough that the moment she’d spoken he’d dropped his hands from her shoulders and backed away in shock.
Then he’d taken in her looks and that had almost been his undoing. She was Rose, only Rose when he’d last seen her, not how she would have looked after all this time. It simply didn’t make any sense at all. How could this girl look exactly like the wife that had left sixteen years ago? It left Adonis’ head spinning, and all he could do was stare at the girl. He was sure he looked like an idiot with his mouth hanging wide open, but what else was the man suppose to do? “What’s your name?” he finally squeaked out, his eyes still wide in shock. The longer he stared at her another reaction started up, a pain that he hadn’t felt in almost fourteen years that settled in his chest. This girl wasn’t his wife but seeing her face made the memories real and with that the pain he’d forgotten a while ago. It wasn’t long before he noticed that as he backed away from her he’d ended up against the wall of the castle. Whatever stress he’d felt before he’d ran into this girl was nothing compared to what he was feeling now. He felt like his heart was racing a million miles a minute. This poor girl probably thought he was a nutter from the way he was acting. When you ran into someone you said you were sorry, made sure they were alright and then walked away going on with their business. He couldn’t just do that no he had to see the girl’s face and go into a panic attack, that was exactly what he was having, or as close to a panic attack as one could get.
Adonis took a few deep breaths, calming himself before standing back up and gathering his wits. What he needed was to walk away with as much dignity as he could and then he needed a very large drink, possibly a few of them. His brain had finally snapped and he needed to just get away. “I’m sorry, now you’re going to think I’m this crazy old professor,” he laughed it off while his body let go of the tension he’d felt since he’d finally noticed how much she looked like his wife. “You caught me off guard, you look exactly like someone I use to know. I wasn’t expecting that when you looked up at me.” See, Adonis did remember had to be a perfectly normal human being, of course he was now looking at anything but the teenage girl in front of him. He was already slowing moving around her, so slowly he didn’t even notice that he was doing it. He was going to blame this on nothing more than just a very strange twist of fate. This girl wasn’t Rose Walsh Wickham, she was just some student that happened to look like the girl that Adonis had once loved with everything in him and who had left him to raise their daughter alone. She wasn’t in any of his classes, so this would be the only time he ever saw and by the look of her she couldn’t have more than a year or two at the most left in the school. Luckily enough for him he had never shown Daphne any pictures of her mother, otherwise he’d have to worry about his daughter seeing this girl. In fact he was going to pretend he hadn’t seen this girl after he walked away from her.
