She was performing with the Frisco Bros. Elepant Show last month. Now she is being forced to perform again with the Hadi Shrine Circus. President Kathy Baker said the performances will be fundraisers for the Reynoldsburg Lions Club. Shows will be held at 4 and 7:30 p.m., she said. "It will help us raise funds for our projects as well as providing a wonderful community-based event," she said. Ignorance is No Excuse The USDA has cited Carson & Barnes numerous times for failure to provide their animals with even basic veterinary care. They are constantly being cited for not providing hoof care for the elephants (foot-related neglect is one of the leading causes of death in elephants in captivity) and in the report it mentions one of the elephants even had fencing wire embedded in her hind foot. There are reports from the USDA of baby elephants being taken prematurely from their mothers and being forced to perform through abusive training methods ... I wish Pagosa Springs had done a little research before welcoming Carson & Barnes Circus with open arms. The circus has a total of 27 elephants at its base in Hugo, Okla., and they are named for family members of the circus.
