Sarah is a female elephant from circus Edmund Kaiser.
There are some info about her in German: http://www.peta.de/web/zirkuskaiser.3066.html
Short info in English:
Although normally elephants live in large social organizations, it was allowed to circus Kaiser to keep Sarah alone since her childhood.
Many times Sarah was found in the bad conditions (for example at -5 ° C conditions in the transport vehicle in Villingen where she was kept in total darkness and extreme conditions.) Vet authorities were informed every time and shortly after that (mostly) Sarah was gone. Weeks later she was found in another place, again, only staying in the van. When she disappeared again and again, and it was not possible to find her. Till now there is no confirmed information where she is. To the visitors of the show last autumn circus has told that Sarah is on holidays in France and will back next year.
Also, some time ago Sarah was suffering from frostbite on her ears and tail.
Please, use google translator (or another one) to get more information about her horrible life.

I haven't found any information about Sarah on the database, but even if those news are old, I think she deserves to be included : )

Those articles are very old, but You can see photos of Sarah:

Thanks for posting ...

Yes, thank you AIWS, and I will do some searching for info about Sarah, and post any findings here.

Thanks to AIWS, here is the relevant passage from an article (+ photo of African SARAH), 25 July 2009 in the Badische Zeitung. [Translation by Google]

Riding the Elephant Lady Sarah

Sarah elegant dances, the female elephant in the circus ring circus of imperial fleets to music from one leg to the other. Later, she trots patiently in a circle and carrying a half-dozen children from the enthusiastic audience through the ring.

Thanks again to AIWS, here is the relevant passage from an article (with illustration of SARAH and what appear to be bullhook and whip), of 26 March 2009:
