Elephants, kangaroo coming to OremThe Piccadilly Circus recently made international news when the circus elephants were used to aid clean-up efforts in Joplin, Mo., after the May 2011 tornado.
Garden said he was involved with the Joplin project. The entire circus show went to the town and spent a day cleaning up. Debris had to be moved from house sites out to the street in order to be picked up.
"The elephants moved trees, cars, garage doors -- you name it, we moved it with the elephants," Garden said. "We moved two houses, but that did not even put a dent in the destruction. It was so sad, no picture does justice to what we saw."

Circus Fusion Blast bringing thrills to Asheville's Biltmore Square Mall“We have exotic animals, including elephants, camels, and we also have comedic clown acts, arieal acts and much much more. Our motorcycle act is an edge-of-your-seat experience where we put two bikes in a metal globe, and they chase each other upside down, side to side and all around the small enclosure. We are keeping circus traditions alive with our animals and classic clown acts, which some circuses have completely removed from their shows.”http://www.citizen-times.com/article/20111...xt%7cLiving%7cs

Piccadilly Circus performance canceledThe Piccadilly Circus performance scheduled for Wednesday at the Lancaster County Convention Center has been canceled.
Cuinn Griffin, promotional director of the Sarasota, Fla.-based circus, said too few tickets had been sold for the event.
"With ticket sales the way they were, we really couldn't afford to go," he said of the show. But, Griffin said, Piccadilly likes Lancaster and is planning to return when the economy is better.
Griffin said all people who had purchased advance tickets to the show had already had their money refunded.

We have received information that they patrol the audience during the elephant act looking for people with cameras.
Elephant rides are not permitted in Georgia so that is a small blessing for the elephants.

"Frank Murray, an elephant handler currently traveling with the Piccadilly Circus, was arrested on May 10th by the New Jersey SPCA on an outstanding warrant for four counts of animal cruelty.
The charges go back to June 1996, when Murray was performing in New Jersey with a different circus. He was arrested on charges of “inflicting unnecessary cruelty towards a living animal and not providing proper sustenance”, but he failed to appear at a later court date.
We’re happy that the law has finally caught up with Murray. The animal(s) he abused may see some justice."http://www.blog.animalrightsflorida.org/?p=1115

From IDA's eMews 24 May 2012:IDA Blows Whistle On Piccadilly Circus Elephant Handler, Leading To Arrest Elephant handler Frank Murray will finally face the animal cruelty charges he has been evading for sixteen years. IDA recently tipped off law enforcement in New Jersey to the fact that Murray was traveling with the Piccadilly Circus in the state and that he had an outstanding warrant for "inflicting unnecessary cruelty towards a living animal and not providing proper sustenance to a living animal." Armed with the old warrant and a photo of Murray, both provided by IDA, a detective from the Law Enforcement Division of the New Jersey SPCA went to the circus and arrested him. Murray, reportedly shocked and unhappy, posted bail and rejoined the circus.
Murray has two elephants, Topsy and Annette, who are forced to give rides and perform with a variety of circuses. The Piccadilly Circus continues to travel the east coast and Murray is thought to be with the circus still. IDA will continue to monitor this situation to ensure that justice prevails and Murray is properly sentenced.http://ida.convio.net/site/MessageViewer?e...nter_friendly=1

Circus elephant barred from Maine after testing positive for tuberculosis antibodiesState Veterinarian Don Hoenig, who oversees elephant importations into Maine, said Topsy the elephant was in Massachusetts last week when the state received an application for her and another elephant, Annette, to come to Maine with the circus. But routine testing on the elephants, who are handled by Franklin Murray, revealed the presence of tuberculosis antibodies in Topsy, which prompted Hoenig to bar its entrance.http://bangordailynews.com/2012/06/08/news...sis-antibodies/

Circus's Elephants Kept Out of MaineWhen he learned that Topsy, an elephant used by Piccadilly Circus, tested positive in two tuberculosis (TB) screening tests, Maine's state veterinarian, Don Hoenig, barred the circus from taking her into the state ...
Elephants used by circuses have a heightened risk of developing active TB infections because their health is compromised by the constant stress of traveling inside filthy, poorly ventilated boxcars ...
Because of the fragile health of TB-positive elephants and the risk to the public, PETA has repeatedly asked the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to make adherence to the USAHA guidelines a national requirement. The USDA even announced its intention to do so, but it has yet to act. http://www.peta.org/b/thepetafiles/archive...t-of-maine.aspx

Repetitive behaviors, such as swaying back and forth, or trunk swinging, are often found in elephants confined in the circus. These abnormal behaviors are believed to be a reaction to boredom or stress.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kp88L9NG65c&feature=youtu.be
In addition to the distressing, unnatural behaviors, please note the short chain, the nails on Judy's rear feet, and the large mark at the top of her right front leg.

Piccadilly promotes abuse of exotic animalsLast week, the Piccadilly Circus came to Central Florida, making a stop at the UCF Arena. This year marks the show’s 25th anniversary, but it’s hardly cause to celebrate. Piccadilly Circus is particularly infamous for its horrible treatment of its show animals. Director Zack Garden described the show as “family-based” and “fun for the whole family.” I want to know: How exactly is cruelty a family value?http://www.centralfloridafuture.com/opinio...imals-1.2748548

Piccadilly Circus Arrives in St. Charles Will, the circus superintendent, said the animals come first, and the day’s first work reflected that. The circus crew was hard at it, preparing to raise the menagerie tent. A semitrailer, with camels peeking through a grated door, served as the backdrop as workers first spread out tarps, then unrolled and laid out the tent itself, followed by tent poles, straps and the stakes that soon would be driven into the ground with a jackhammer mounted on a Bobcat, which also served as a forklift to move the huge rolls of tarp from semitrailer to tent site.http://stcharles-il.patch.com/articles/pic...s-in-st-charles

Piccadilly Circus manager says his circus animals 'live the life'The only area of concern remaining seems to be circus elephant handlers.
Frank Murray, an elephant handler with Piccadilly Circus earlier this year, was arrested on a warrant for charges related to alleged animal cruelty.
