This is so sprockin' retarded that every football fan in America should be up in arms about it.
In case you didn't know, during the latter half of the season, some weekend games are aired on the NFL Network. But since this network isn't availible on most regular cable packages, over half the country is unable to watch these games (mainly because of ecomonic tension/issues between the League and cable TV) However, tonight, the usual Saturday Night NFL game between the @&^%$# Patriots and the Giants will not only be aired on the NFL network but also simulcast on both CBS and NBC. Because according to a statement from NFL Commisioner Goodell, as many people and fans that can see the %$#$(&%$ Patriots' attempts for an undefeated regular season is good for the sport. BULLSHIT! I don't give a damn about Belecheat or his fuckin' attempt to asterisk his way to a perfect season. But this move is a kick to the groin. Where was this mentality a few months ago when the NFL Network had the Cowboys/Packers game, a match-up that, as then, even now is a potential match-up for the NFC Championship game? Only a third of the America saw that game. But Nooooooo, because it's the lame-ass Brady Bunch, suddenly all is well in cable and satellite TV Land so we can all watch the cheaters. It's crap, it's garbage, and even if I can get all three channels, I ain't watching Brady's dumbass do anything. -------------------- |

Yeah, it is a bunch of bullshit and they even blacked out the Steelers game on KDKA unless you lived in pittsburgh.
Fortunately, my cable kicks ass and has the NFL Network. |

Yeah, I have the NFL Network too but if Goodell really wants to 'do what's best for the sport' then let the fans see all the games and not just the rigged ones.

Goodell can't help it if the coaches cheat.
But seriously, I feel your pain. I feel like I'm trying to play catch-up half the time when it comes to covering the teams I give a damn about. Most of the time I get my Ravens and Stealers information from the local radio. -------------------- ![]() Courtesy, your friendly neighborhood pervert. |

So ummm... sorry if this is a stupid question, but I don't follow most professional sports (just the Edmonton Oiler hockey team) but if the Patriots are cheating how are they having an undefeated season? How are they cheating?

Illegaly watching videoes of the next team they're up against to study their strategies.
Plus the refs are New England's MVPs. |

I say Favre goes out with a ring. They gave one to Bettis before he retired, why not one for him ?

Wouldn't going undefeated for 17 weeks in the NFL only strengthen the claim that they are possibly and probably cheating ? Despite what ESPN says, the Pats aren't that good a team this year. Just somehow everything has gone right for them when they needed it to. There've been several times where they were just flat out getting worked by the other team and then out of nowhere this miraculous turnaround happens. I call bullshit on their entire season. -------------------- |

Like I said, I don't know much about professional sports. I've always believed that on any given day anyone can win... plus I didn't know you couldn't watch tapes of other team's plays.

Watching tapes of gameplay is a pretty standard practice in Football and Basketball. You want to study your next opponent and be prepared for them.
What the Pats were supposedly watching, though, were tapes of the coaches calls on the sideline. That's what's illegal. -------------------- |

Yeah, in pro hockey they have "Video Coaches" who's job is strictly showing the team their opponents' plays and techniques. I wouldn't know anything about tapes of coaches though. In hockey (my only comparison) the coaches yell pretty loudly so it'd defeat the purpose of making that illegal.

See, the thing is. You have fans who think they are that good and don't give a damn about the fact that they cheated. Regardless of what they saw or didn't see, they still beat those teams. And the fact that the Giants beat them (hell yeah!) proves that they weren't infallible. I personally think the Pats will go into the books with Bonds as folks who may or may not have set records, but the record will always be tainted by hearsay. |
