In Ellegion, the following are recognized fuedal titles, in order of relative respect. Respect does NOT equate reputation...respect is more the venerability of the House in question.
Grand Duke Duke Marquis Count Viscount Baron Earl Only the head of a house may have one of these titles. An individual noble from one of these houses may be a Lord or Lady. It is easiest for nobles to become Knights due to the costs involved, but those outside noble lineage CAN become Knights provided they have the required incomes. Knights are designated by Sir. The order of the titles is like this... Grand Duke Sir Joffre Lord Sephus. The Lord is ALWAYS before the surname. It is never Lord Joffre, but always Lord Sephus. Similarly, it is never Sir Sephus, but always Sir Joffre. If a noble is addressing an equal or someone of close status, the address is "Sir Joffre." If addressing a noble of advanced venerability, or if a common is addressing a noble, the Lord designation is normally used. This is not MANDATORY, but people in the game do have a sense of what is and is not courteous. -------------------- "Deos honors those who bleed."
