[ Coepi Locus is one of the most important roots of civilization in Avalor. For this purpose, a more detailed history of its evolution can be found in The History of Northern Avalor. The Red Book serves as a simple background and explaination of landmarks and layout of the city. ]
Coepi Locus was the first civilization erected in Avalor within about a 300 mile radius. The city encompasses three notable hills: Monastica Hill, the center of religion; Habenae Hill, the center of government; and Vendolius Hill, the center of commerce and trade. Although centuries of both human, elven, and natural erosion have lightened the severity of the slopes, their positions still significantly divide the town center into repective territories.
In modern days, Monastica Hill is the eye-catcher of most tourists, for upon it's peak stand a single, lofty spire. A tower of white marble reaching into the lowest clouds. Lapis lazuli boulders that gather magic to them orbit it about six/sevenths of the way up, defying nature through an ancient mage's enchantment, and provide the mages within with extra energy and magical ability. The roof of the tower is flat, with an entrance at the top, but is covered with a golden peaking dome, elevated on columns to provide a space with a 360 degree view of the entire city, and a position of great, great power. Should a mage of the right sort choose to entrench himself there, he might be capable of defending the entire city alone.
This is one of the two main reasons the city has never fallen, and is the only point in the city where one can see over the other. The Wall of Maytet, fifteen feet thick and three hundred feet high, erected in 4137 AAV in the defence of rebels and ronin in the Era of Warlords, is the other reason.
