Reaching beyond the stretches of the recorded past, eons back, in times forgotten, revealed to us by the Thaumaturge herself, the supercontinent Shiia was split by a massive, divinely initiated earthquake. The massive fissure resulting from the split was filled in by the seas, flowing from the Eternal North, which became known today as Ocean of Falan.
Shiia split into three subcontinents -- Yuonze, Crimonea, and Avalor -- and remains so today. No contact from here in Avalor has ever been made to the other continents.
After the Shiia split, the Creator created the Eternal West, from where He launched the suns and moon to the Eternal East, each day sending them across the sapphire sky. Finally, he created the Eternal South, to complement the north, and complete his role in the creation of the World. Ne'er since has He made obvious contact with his World, although some claim that he played a decisive role in the construction of Galent, while others hold that this was the work of the Thaumaturge.
Based on fossil records, life first origniated in Avalor about 8.3 million years ago. It was by purest chance that natural elements aligned and were shot with lightning, creating, out of probability, the first life. This asexual being is the source of all life in Avalor. Through evolution, Avalor has obtained the diverse species it has today.
The first recorded history of organized life by social creatures is from 4210 Pre-Awakening Era (PAE). Creatures around the Siftkani Coast had started to create village type infrastructures, but nothing so advanced as to call "civilization." In about 2190 PAE, similar evidence can be found around the Bay of Kadarain, in the modern day Trieme region.
It was not until much later, however, that Avalor recieved a significant cultural boost. In the Year of the Awakening (which is both 1 PAE and 1 AAV), the people of Avalor, settled around the Bay of Kadarain, at one with nature and its harmonies, were visited by the Magi Eliaethi, later referred to as simply the Thaumaturge.
Legend holds that upon the 41st day of the winter season, where only the blue bells blossomed and every mountain peak was white, the suns in the sky started to appear unstable. Rays, beams of light jumped from sun to sun, prominant flares whipping across the sky. As the flares settled, the sky darkened to a cool glow, and an abnormally beautiful woman appeared to the tribesmen who had settled in this portion of the Trieme ring, somewhere within what are now the Speculum Hills. She spoke to them in a foreign tongue, and yet they understood what she meant not by the sounds she made, but by the truths which she demonstrated to them. Infusing the knowledge of magick within them with little regard for explanation, several of the farmers died of shock induced by the wealth of knowledge they had suddenly acquired. Some began to fight amongst themselves with raw, natural powers; others let their instincts take charge and hid among the tall grasses. Eliaethi, hovering several yards above the ground, watched in silence.
Over the next several days of fighting, many humans could no longer control the surge of energy within them, and would drop dead of either exhaustion or shock. Many would die in combat. For 6 days, the settlers, male and female, continued to battle with uncontrollable rage.
The most prominant of the warriors was called Rana, a livestock herder from the north. His body seemed to be unfillable, his quench for magick unsatiable, and his form became warped with musculature and wreathed in dark energies.
Cronad, on the other hand, was a farmer from the western coast. He had also become warped by the magicks brought by the Thaumaturge, but in the soul moreso than in the body.
Observing these two champions, Eliaethi halted the flow of time in Avalor. For 6 days, she spent her time with Rana, and mated with him in order to bear children. For the six days following, she did the same with Cronad. Eliaethi became impregnated neither time; rather, the men bore their children over a period of mere hours. Rana's descendants became uncontrollable strong and muscular, and their entire family of beasts was sent to the Rae-Thon mountains, whereas Cronad's descendants possessed immense psychic ability, notably small-scale control of time flow. They migrated over time to the western peninsulas.
Following the relocation of her mates, Eliaethi disappeared, claiming to leave Avalor. However, there had been another survivor of the calamities almost three weeks prior: Calaesa, a maiden from the north, who's magical infusion had left here with control of her surroundings, including both physical space and the minds of others. She became immesurably beautiful, moreso even than Eliaethi. The Thaumaturge returned to the Bay of Kadarain to find and mate with her, bearing children following their human mother's newfound abilities, and retaining her staggering beauty.
No human can prove that Eliaethi actually left Avalor, but she has never since taken any active, open role in the affairs of Avalor's people.
For about 80 years, the civilizations in the west started to repopulate with genes containing magick. Over time, the potency of this lineage experienced an average dilution, although some claim that there is still an incesutous, pure-blooded line of Rana, Cronad, and Calaesa's respective families. Nearing the end of this four score period, people from the West initiated travel into the Eastern half of Avalor, where they met civilizations far more advanced in sciences, but lacking in blessings of magick. While Xonil refused offerings of magick and later burst into civil war over the very concept of accepting magick, some minor settlement accepted the gifts of the people of the West. Settlements never really ventured further than the Rae-Thon Peaks, and no man had ever seen settlements south of these mountains until after the Southern Expance, where after Northern culture slowly leaked into Southern Avalor.
In the West, Coepi Locus developed from the ashes what had come to be called the War of the Miracler, on the three hills which became known as Monastica Hill, the center of religion; Habenae Hill, the center of government; and Vendolius Hill, the center of commerce and trade. Democratic thought and magickly infused technology developed irregularly quickly, creating a dynamic, colorful, and dangerous community. Eventually, Coepi Locus would grow into a kingdom, and eventually a superpower of sorts after the Era of Warlords, where it was one of the only surviving powers of the many that had arisen and fallen before war erupted. This can be contributed to both the Wall of Maytet, a "public service" project of massive proportions which diluted the trust of the people in their government. Another attribute which saved the city during war was the tower at the apex of Monastica Hill which had certain powerful properties and auras.
