The ancient scientists discovered a Sothic Cycle see Egyptian Chronology.

It was almost exactly the Julian year of 365.25 days x 1461 of those years.

To observe this would be remarkable in itself well impossible really however apparently they did it.

I don't see days I see square feet. I see geometry and I see the number 365.25 x 1461 = 533630.25 days in a Sothic cycle.

I don't know exactly what this number 533630.25 means but I can see it is the area of a square perhaps feet. It may not be a square perhaps it is something else. I would really hope somebody thinks about it.

The side of the square being 730.5 or twice 365.25 a Julian year..

From Wikipedia, the Egyptians didn't use feet, so why would you connect calendar days to square feet? Feet along with inches came from Rome, not Egypt.

There is really nothing special about a Sothic cycle. It basically means that when your calendar is off about a quarter day per year, then every four years it is off a whole day. Thus if the first day of spring would normally fall on 21 March this year, in four years it will fall on 20 march, four years later on 19 March, etc, and 1460 years later (365 x 4 = 1460) it will fall back on 21 march again. The fact that the Calendar rotated around like it did didn't bother the Egyptians is because the lived close enough to the equator that the difference wasn't as noticeable as it was in the regions to the extreme north and south.

This isn't anything amazing, just what happens when your calendar is off.

The same thing would have happened to the Julian calendar if Pope Gregorius XIII hadn't fixed it. Of course it would have taken much longer.

Harold comes up with his usual fodder here!!

730.5 x 4 gives a square of 2922 and this is 8 x 365.25

The aubrey circle works on a 364 day cycle so after 8 years is 2912 days long and 10 days out of sync so a 10 day reset is required of 8 x 1.25 days to get back to 2922 days.

365.25 is the base unit.
364.95 is the Venus cycle syncronised against 365.25 so a 0.3 of a day lag every year and this accounts for the retrograde motion of venus against 365.25 days.

5280 x 0.3 = 1584 named the 'Venus Unit' in my latest book.

1584 / 12 = 132 (Jim's unit)
