Forum Rules RULES~ "Metric & Imperial"

Basically, treat each other decently, and don't be a prat.

1. No pornography, "warez", or links to spam sites.
2. Vigorous debate is fine, but any posts deemed malicious or inappropriate will be editted or deleted and the user warned or banned at the discretion of the moderating team.
3. Only posts relating to measuring systems; anything offtopic will be moved to a different forum.
4. No SPAM. By which I mean random, pointless posts, or posts with no real content in them.

With the yard's present definition, the speed of light in vacuum is about...

91 970 0λ2'λ yards/second

If we were to use the yard as a dozenal base unit, how about fixing that speed at eaxctly...

91 970 000' (327 856 896.) yards/second

...instead? The increase in length would be pretty negligible.

Same, roughly the same...all the same to me. smile.gif

It would still be 32 15Ɛ 200' yards per 0'000 01 day (0'42 second, or thereabouts if you want to adjust for the lengthening of the solar day; matters little), for example. I don't see much problem in retaining the second, however.
