With the yard's present definition, the speed of light in vacuum is about...
91 970 0λ2'λ yards/second If we were to use the yard as a dozenal base unit, how about fixing that speed at eaxctly... 91 970 000' (327 856 896.) yards/second ...instead? The increase in length would be pretty negligible. |

Same, roughly the same...all the same to me. It would still be 32 15Ɛ 200' yards per 0'000 01 day (0'42 second, or thereabouts if you want to adjust for the lengthening of the solar day; matters little), for example. I don't see much problem in retaining the second, however. |
