When the bombs dropped, those with the money and resources to afford it wound up in the underground vaults. They were tools and protection that the military had created, although no one had ever hoped or dreamed that we would need to use them for our very survival. Humans have the ability to thrive in areas that would normally kill them, evolution allowed us to push ourselves past our fellow kin. Now, it merely helps to keep us alive.
In the years 2287, it was found that three cities had taken control with the most survivors, and influence, than any other cities. New Vegas, Washington D.C, and New York City. The Big Apple was once one of the most thriving cities on earth, now reduced to a barren wasteland of damaged buildings and scattered dreams. It used to be a city where those who wanted to live big would go, now only a place to grow up in fear.
In the empty streets of New York things are beginning to change. Humanity is beginning to see something that very few have ever seen before. Change. New York has been broken up into several factions, mirroring the gang-like activities that it was once famous for. The Blood Ravens, were a group that had taken control of Broadway, making sure that anyone without the right uniform and identification didn’t get anywhere close to their home. The Templars rose to power quickly after the Nuclear Fallout, some believing that they were an organization that existed before the time of the Great War. They have taken control of the United Nations Building, and several other key political spots, believing that their claim has given them the right to rule.
There are several other factions that exist within New York, each with their own goals and desires. The fights for control go on everyday, each one trying to show its merit and strength. The groups all fight for the same thing, control. They fight so that every morning they do not have to be afraid of just WHO might be out there, waiting to take away that which they worked so hard for.
War…..war never changes.
However, behind the death and the decay of the world, there grows a power that hasn’t been seen for over two hundred years. Unification. Heroes are beginning to rise, ready to fight for that which they believe is right no matter what the cost……………this is their story.
------¬¬----
Ryan stood at the end of the street, a cigarette lit in his hand as he took a single drag from it. He looked out of place in the simple neighborhood, with his metal armor and desperado cowboy hat on as well. Across his belt was a variety of hunting knives, clearly more for fighting than for actual hunting given the condition that the world was in. He took another drag from his cigarette as he surveyed the area.
For their newest contract, they had been asked to meet a messenger in a neighborhood near the old Bronx River. The river hadn’t had clean water, so living here wasn’t a too desirable spot for most. This was the kind of place you wanted to be at when you wanted time to talk.
“Come on Elliot man, where are you?”, Ryan asked himself as he glanced from side to side. Places like this made Ryan nervous, there were far too many windows in this New York setting, way too many places to be ambushed at. It just took one rifle bullet to the head to kill after all. Still, it wasn’t like they had a ton of enemies that wanted them dead.

Elliot's arrival was heralded by distant gunfire, of several different types, among them the 10mm pistols Mustang and Sally. Each shot landing true, but there were still so many of them, shots, raiders, blocks to Ryan and bullets in his magazine, that it would take him a while, still he sprinted for all he was worth through most of the rubble. It was like a playground, except that slipping and falling into piles of twisted sharp metal was like punching a yao-guai in the mouth. A bad Idea.
Still, you turn the wrong corner and run into the wrong ass holes. Who are armed to the teeth and...
BOOM!
Elliot flew through the air and landed back first on a rock his body twitching in pain as the raiders came out of their cover. "Where the fuck did these guys get a rocket launcher?" Elliot asked himself rolling from the rock under his back into cover. Everything hurt. There was dirt in his hair and the distant click of a reload along with covering gunfire into El's position.
Fucking great.
Elliot jumped from his cover and raised his weapon mid lunge, his eye looking down the sights to his target, the raider with the rocket launcher, a punk with half a head of hair and his ass hanging out his shredded pants. Great, he was being shot at by a justin beiber.
Bang! Sally let loose the bullet finding it's way into the barrel of the recoil-less rocket launcher and igniting the propellant of the rocket causing it to explode wiping out the group of raiders.
With that El picked himself up, dusted himself off, pulled out a cig, and lit it up with his handy Zippo, which returned to his pocket with a silver glint. "I think I deserve a rest after that bull shit." He started walking but stopped after a few short steps to mash what was left of that rocket launching pricks face into the ground with his heel before walking away.
It only took El another five minutes to walk to Ryan. "Hey bud." He greeted, he'd been brought all this way for some job Ryan needed, heck this was not the first time he'd been in a big city ruin. Detroit and The Pitt were just a little bit smaller scale than this.

And there were the gunshots, Ryan was honestly surprised that it had taken Elliot this long to get into some trouble. New York was a town that could eat up the wrong kind of guys for just looking at someone different. The Blood Ravens were a giant group of bullies in a city where fear motivated everyone's actions, it was clear that they wouldn't want someone as well armed as Elliot to try to change things. Change brought about differences after all, something that the gangs wanted to avoid as much as possible.
Ryan allowed his cigarette to drop to the ground after Elliot had shown up. He was positive that Elliot would begin smoking, but it didn't make much difference to him. "You pissed them off enough to use a rocket on you? Those things are hard to find you know", Ryan pointed out as he leaned up against the light post that he had been standing by. "I was worried you'd want me to step in before long", he said jokingly.
"Still Elliot...........thanks for coming"

Ryan gladly took the cigarette upon being prompted, putting it to his lips and taking a long and relished drag from the item. Once of this quality were extremely hard to find in New York, it seemed like everyone had picked up the habit years ago. Still, Ryan was appreciative of Elliot sharing what he had.
"Well in regards to the job, it seems like you got a head start. There's a group of Blood Ravens meeting up at old Yankee Stadium. We are apparently supposed to go in and investigate before reporting back here", Ryan explained. "Once we do that, we don't need to get our hands dirty in any way. However, our boss said that we could intervene if that was our wish", Ryan added.
"I know it sounds like a strange job, but we're getting a lot of caps this time around. He's also offering us a gallon of clean water", Ryan said with a huge grin. Elliot knew how hard it was to come across clean water anymore.

Ryan slowly pulled away at the rifle that was strapped to his back, allowing it to rest in the comfortable grip of his gloves. The gloves were practically made to fit the rifles long barrel and scope. Before becoming the mercenary that he was, Ryan survived by hunting out anything that he could find in the wastelands of Brooklyn and New Jersey. He only came to the big city after a few people recommended that he'd find better money and work as a whole. Ryan took them up on that suggestion.
"Glad to know that you're always ready to make a mess", Ryan said with a laugh. He knew that Elliot was a great fighter, and he balanced pretty well with how Ryan worked. Why Elliot was an overall great fighter, Ryan was the one that could pick locks, hack terminals, and fix almost anything that was broken. Also, he was way good at explosives. Normally he used his rifle for fighting, but if enemies got too close they'd find a wad of dynamite at their feet.
"Let's go", Ryan said as he rested the barrel of the gun against his shoulder. "You ever been to this place? I haven't so I don't know what would be the best way to get in", Ryan admitted.

"Yeah, I've never seen anything like it till I came here", Ryan admitted as he glanced up at the buildings that were nearby. They were like giant looming bodyguards almost, like any move that the two of them made was going to come back and be reported to someone else. Despite what they looked like though, Ryan knew that they might hold hordes of treasure or enemies. They were bombed out, and anyone could sneak in a room and live there without anyone finding them.
"I was shown the place earlier today, unless you have a better idea I want to climb one of the buildings near it. Once we're on top, I want to use my rifle to get a closer look at the layout of the place and who is there. Once we do that, than we can develop our plan", Ryan said before starting to run off.
Once they reached the top of the building, Ryan handed Elliot his own rifle. "Take a good look for me, I'm going to make sure we don't get disturbed in case we were followed", Ryan said before moving back towards the door that they had come from. He quickly pulled out a stick of dynamite and some wire to begin making a booby trap should anyone come through.

As Elliot looked through the rifle, he'd be able to see that there were a few guards pots moving here and there along the ground, checking various entrances. It was clear who these guys were though, The Dark Wolves. They were one of the most feared gangs that had come to New York since the Great War, and they hadn't taken kindly to being pushed around since. If someone ended up dead in a very public and violent way, odds are the Dark Wolves had something to do with it.
Elliott would notice that there was absolutely no one on the roof though. If they could get past the ground guards, security wouldn't be too much of a problem.
Ryan finally made his way to the top and stopped next to Elliot. "What ya got for us so far? Good news?"

Ryan took the rifle once El was done with it, wanting to see what exactly they were dealing with. "Man, no wonder the pay on this was so high", Ryan muttered as he looked at what these guys were carrying. He glanced over at El. "My suggestion is that you get closer, and once you signal me I'll start firing some shots in order to get their attention. The moment they start firing back I can retreat. With all these buildings and windows they'll never be able to pin point me if I'm careful", he pointed out. "Once I feel like it's safe, I'll meet up with where you are and we can sneak in while they're still trying to find me........what do ya think?"

Ryan shined a piece of glass in the light, showing Elliot that he had received the signal. He laid down upon his chest, putting his eye to the scope of his rifle. The distance was farther than he had anticipated, it was a long shot even for him. He was going to need a bit of extra help if he was going to make it. He twisted his wrist so that it was now in front of him. His faithful Pip-Boy was not right in front of him. "Come V.A.T.S, don't let me down now", Ryan whispered as he plugged in his targets. Only a few moments later and the shots began to rain down, piercing several enemies in the legs and chest. The distraction was made!
"Time to move", Ryan said before disappearing from the rooftop. Elliot would see the patrols beginning to move out, trying to spread out in order to find out who was shooting at them. Within minutes, they were moving into nearby buildings, trying to get an idea of where he had come from.
Several minutes later, and Ryan moved right towards Elliot, sneaking as he did so. "Looks like they're distracted for now. Let's keep moving before they wise up and come back"

Ryan gave a tiny laugh as he equipped his rifle to his back. "Well we only need to kill if we feel like it's something that needs to be stopped. The basics of the job is just to figure out how many guys are in there and what exactly are they up to", Ryan reminded Elliot as he glanced back to see that they were still in the clear.
"Regardless of what we do, I don't think staying here when they might be coming back is a good idea. You go ahead, I'll cover our six"

Ryan continued forward, not too eager to stop at this moment. All it would take was someone hearing them coming for them to be caught in a death trap. The moment that one person was notified, everyone would be notified. It wasn't the best of situations, but it was for a large reward.
"Mr. Smith", Ryan said before looking at Elliot with a smile. Mr. Smith was the alias to the man that had taken refuge in the head of the statue of liberty. He was known for using his personal militia to stamp out acts of gang violence. No one knew what he looked like, but many of the people called him the savior to the city. "And if we get this job done, there could be more work for us"

"Let's just focus on the mission", Ryan whispered back as they kept moving. "Right now I don't think we've been here before. I think a lot of the building is designed to look the same", he said in thought as he examined the area. Something caught his eyes and he moved over to the wall for just a moment. "Here", Ryan said before prying something off the wall. "Looks like an air duct, if we're quiet enough we can use it to go up a level without being heard"

"No, it's best that we stick together. I don't want to risk anything happening to one of us while the other is alone", Ryan said as he put the grate back onto the wall. "Let's just keep moving down the hallways and listen for any sort of noise. Whatever these people are doing, they can't be silent all the time for it", Ryan pointed out. There would need to be some noise somewhere.......

Ryan hesitated for only a moment. He was worried that potentially revealing their position was a bad idea, but on the other hand whoever was in here might assume that another patrol dropped it. Perhaps it was exactly what they needed to lure them out. "Alright, but if you lose your caps than paying you back is on me", Ryan said with a tiny laugh. "We should find a place to hide for ambush sake though"

Ryan shook his head as Elliot drew out his favorite gun. "Fire that thing off and everyone's going to hear you. We have to be smart about this, use that hunting knife of yours", Ryan suggested as he moved and hit in the air duct that he had tried to move through earlier. They needed to make sure that if anyone was near by that they wouldn't be alerted by too much noise. At the same time, Ryan withdrew his knife, knowing that he didn't have enough room to aim his rifle here.
As the guards approached one of them leaned down and began picking up the caps, laughing about the moron that would've dropped these and not picked them up.

As Elliot made his move, so did Ryan. While Elliot threw his knife into one of the guard's eyes, Ryan took the opportunity to run forward, slashing one of the guards in the neck. The man collapsed to the ground, clutching his neck as if he was trying to scream or hold his own blood inside. It wasn't working though. With that Ryan quickly sent a jab to the last man's neck before stabbing him right in the chest. With that, the four men were down and dead.
"We should move them quickly, before anyone comes to look for them"

Ryan helped to make sure that the bodies were hidden well from view. To be safe, he covered up the entrance to the grate with cardboard laying on the ground, just to make sure that no blood flowed past it. He couldn't help but cringe a little as Elliot cut off the fingers. It was a sign of the brutality that existed in this world, but at least Elliot was doing it for a good cause.
"I'd rather try to find a way around if possible. After all I don't really enjoy letting everyone know that I'm here to kill them", Ryan said with a shrug. "We'll do our best to avoid conflict, but we'll give them hell if it's impossible to avoid"

Ryan continued to hold his knives, preferring to use silence. If a fire fight broke out, he'd merely have to dodge and hope that he could draw out his revolver in time. Ryan was better at farther ranges, he didn't like to get up close quite as much as Elliot did. Still, they kept moving forward deeper into the stadium. Whatever they were onto, it seemed like they were getting close. Thankfully no one outside suspected that anyone had gotten in. Security wasn't as tight inside.
As they moved along they would hear voices down the next corridor, but no footsteps. It sounded like two men having a conversation. Ryan motioned for Elliot to stop. "Sounds like we have some guys at a checkpoint.........with any luck they might be guarding what we need to find"

"I got the right side, you got the left", Ryan whispered as he moved forward. He drew out his lighter knives, meant for throwing, and moved behind a crate. When they attacked they wouldn't have much time, so there was no sense in waiting. Ryan quickly stood up and threw one of his knives, embedding it into the man's neck. HE wasn't even able to scream as he tried to grab at the knife. Elliot was going to have to do the finishing off.

Ryan motioned his head towards a door that the two had been guarding. It was so rusty and faded, it looked like it had become part of the wall. "Twenty caps says that whatever we're supposed to find is in there", Ryan said as he took the leftover caps and ammo from the guards and got on one side of the door. "There might be some guys in there, so get ready to unleash all sorts of hell", Ryan said as he pulled out his revolver. "Kick the door in when you're ready"

As Ryan and Elliot entered the rooms though, they'd notice that no one was inside. Instead, there were a very large number of crates inside. Ryan moved over to one of them after checking to make sure that the room was clear. He slowly unclasped one of them and looked inside. "My god.......look at these", Ryan said as he motioned for Elliot to take a look. They were guns, high quality guns. They looked...........new! "These don't look like the guns that you normally find out in the streets"

"I don't know, our mission doesn't ask us to do anything with what we find, just report on it", Ryan said as he took one of the guns out and threw it over his shoulder. "However, it also never said that we couldn't take what we found for ourselves", he said with a grin to Elliot before tossing him one as well. "What do you think though? Toss a grenade in and book it out of here before everyone shows up?"

"Fine", Ryan said before tossing a stick lightly over to Elliot. Ryan picked up his rifle and looked it over, attaching a new mag into it before moving towards the door. There was no telling when someone might come in to see why things were so quiet. "Set it up and than let's get out of here as fast as we can. The mission's over"

Ryan watched as the entire trap was set up, it wouldn't be long till people came rushing their way. If they were lucky, they could slip out without too much attention. All the same it was better safe than sorry. Ryan turned off his safety and gave a nod to Elliot. "Let's get going", he said before heading off.
The thunderous explosion came from behind them as they were leaving the area. It nearly knocked them on their butts. Luckily, Elliot and Ryan were getting away. "DUCK!", Ryan said before lifting his rifle and firing at a guard that was pulling out a revolver. He was dropped instantly. "Shit man, we gotta get going!", Ryan said before booking off towards the entrance. Shots were fired, there was no way that they could sneak out now.

Ryan quickly moved into a doorway in order to avoid the gunfire that came from the two men at the door. He was the lucky one, he hadn't taken any hits from the bullets, but elliot on the other hand appeared to be injured. "don't worry buddy I got ya", Ryan said as he moved over and helped support Elliot's weaker side. He used one arm to help Elliot move, the other held his rifle forward in case anyone came in front of them.
However, the duo would get away without any further incidents.
