Sure, you probably think i'm trying to get out of doing some work for Deadly Waters, but in truth it would be damn boring if I wrote the whole thing. A person might find what I wrote hard to understand, but when they read someone else's work they get it.
I don't want DW to be backwards like SS13 is. Sure, they say they are doing all these major updates for the game, but for heaven's sake, the game has been around forever and they don't have a training area! Players who are taught (and learn) will eventually play well, which makes the game better for all of us! What's more frustrating than when the sub is being battered and no one knows what to do, or having a newbie crew that doesn't follow orders and the batteries have been blown five times in a row? Everyone that I have taught individually in DW has enjoyed the game. Anyway, if you guys think i'm just going to stick the articles into the game that's not true. I will look them over and add my own stuff, but I already explained why it's better to have different people writing. Obviously, Kai is working on an OOD article, so that is taken, but everything else is open so you can really write what you want. If you don't know what you want to do, i'll list some ideas here for you: 1) OOC information like how to use the HUD (Heads Up Display), background info of the game, etc. Literally anything that you couldn't explain in an IC manner would be put here. I'm saying you can't put HOW to do things, I am saying that a HUD is purely game thing, real people don't have them so IC you wouldn't talk about it. Edit: I forgot to add, I have been working on this part a bit myself. 2) Job information articles. See Kai's article for an example. There are currently 11 jobs: Captain (Commanding Officer), EXecutive Officer, 3) General articles on a topic such as commanding, tips and tricks (strategies), following orders, properly roleplaying, etc. These could also be more general articles like "Control room training" and "Engineering training." All articles must have a decent-size article and questions (multiple choice, at least 4 choices, true/false, fill-in, whatever you want) that aren't too easy. Sounds hard, but if you know about it, i'm sure it's not hard to write about it. It's a game after all, i'm not giving you a grade, you can be creative. Deleted Sano's nonsense about plagerism. I have an idea, most players when they start don't bother with the forums. How about, instead of that long instruction manual you have put up, make them ready the forum guides, then they take a test on the IMPORTANT stuff of the game.
ex- 1. which tool do you use to make torpedos? a. a welder tool b. a screwdriver c. a plasma gun d. a wrench 2. how do you fix the battery? a. punch it b. raise the steam pressure c. use a metal sheet on the broken part d. use a wrench 3. how do you activate the generator? a. put temperature to sub-critical b. activate the generator and raise steam pressure c. flip the on switch d. use a screwdriver on it 4. when should you NOT use ooc a. when you have a question b. when you need more skill points c. when you are chatting d. when you are role-playing 5. ect. important junk then they must run a simulation- shoot an enemy, make a torpedo, start engines |

I actually discussed that here in the first paragraph, actually. I KNOW that newbies need more practical training, but I just haven't gotten around to it. That first basic training system took me something like 6 hours to make. I haven't really been feeling up of that kind of work recently. |

If you want a pratical why dont you have all newbies start the game in an mini sub around 3 rooms - torpedo's/engin room/control room. there mission is to get home from a distance of 100 or something

Unfortunately, you have made an uninformed post. I can't make a mini-sub for training for the same reason I can't create a sub vs. sub mode. Check one of your very OWN topics here! Apparently, you want another sub very badly, but it's quite impossible. I will have to work around this. |
