A thread all about talking about the art of Deadman Wonderland.
What's your favorite character design? Do you think the artist was being carefully when designing it (not using a lot of ink)? Think the artist could make the character look better? What do you think are some flaws the artist has drawing? Have you noticed any animation errors (like coloring Ganta's eyes wrong)? Do you think it'll be easy to cosplay the character? How would you do it? Think there's any meaning? And other stuffs like that. (sorries I got a bit carried away with the examples~ Think I over analyzed things again.) ----------------- I'm very biased towards Shiro. Though honestly the first time I saw her in the anime I thought she was "naked", kind of like how a dog wears fur. I thought that her bodysuit was a skin! Then I realized it wasn't due to her feet, more specifically her toes and heels. I wondered why they changed the bodysuit from the manga's peach to white though. Maybe it's for fanservice? There are people who like suits that seems to look like skin. As for Shiro's manga design, I can't help but think it was a creatively cheap way of saving ink. Ink can get pretty costly for manga and when you have a character like Shiro who doesn't need much shading in, it could be pretty helpful. Which is probably why dark skinned character's tend not to have dark colored hair. If they're a certain shade like very dark that it's close to black giving them black hair may have them looking something similar to blobs. But at least manga colors in the dark skin characters unlike a certain (X-men) comic book I know where a certain character (storm) isn't colored at all minus her all black outfit. Shiro's design in general, I'm not very sure on how it shows Shiro's personality, so Imma guess on this. White usually symbolizing for innocence and purity. Red, well I don't quite know what red symbolizes passion? Blood? Violence. There's not a whole lot of red on the bodysuit, but it's still there kind of like Wretched Egg living inside of Shiro. Luckily, her outfit also has brown mitts something to offset all that white and red. (Let's not forget Shiro's albinoness) Which is nice especially since prison has lots of white in it. I applaud you if you just read this whole entire thing! I can't help but analyze some things. I give a standing ovation if you reply to this (especially since this could be seen as sort of boring)~ |
