General HelpWho can I message for help?
The Staff is your source for site information. They can be reached by PM or in the CBox. You can also post your questions in 'General Questions' thread. It is located in the General Chat area of the Out of Character Discussions section at the bottom of the board.
Is the site strictly forum-based?
Yes, the site is completely forum-based.
Is this a Marvel or DC site?
Nope. This is a comicverse completely unrelated to Marvel or DC or any of its affiliates. We have our own heroes, villains and history unrelated to those Verses.
Are novice roleplayers allowed on this site?
Absolutely, yes.
Character CreationHow do I make a character?
You apply with a character following the stated guidelines. Your character should be a reflection of your own unique mind, which has created it. In short, picture what you want your character to be and we’ll try to make it so. Please check out the
Character Creation Guide for more information.
What kind of character should I create? What's the main premise to follow?
Your character should be a hero. All villains on this site are strictly NPCs.
Can I post my character actions in more than one place at a time, or do I have to leave on thread to be in another?
Your character can only be in one place at a time. As such you can only post in multiple threads at once when warranted by your Narrator or an Admin. You can however write down Journal entries or Prologues while you are in a thread. Remember, however, that what those entries and messages look like will be affected by what is happening in your storyline.
Does my character have stats?
Yes, characters have stats. This is merely for the purposes of adjudicating powers and combat. Think of this as more of a collaborative fan-fic.
How does adjudicating combat happen?
The Narrator will read over the posts available and verify what is being attempted. Then start writing their post to reflect outcomes. When success or failure is not a foregone conclusion, the Narrator will utilize
Random.org's integer counter to generate a number between 1-10 for attacks and defense as needed before writing the post related to each individual situation.
Can I have two characters?
At this point in time we are allowing two characters per player. However, we do require you invest in 50 In-Character RP posts in order to gain that second character. The reason for the high number of IC posts is want your character to be well explored before you move to a second character.
Can my character die? Can I kill my own character?
Yes, your character can die and no, the Narrator will not do so arbitrarily. Yes, usually if you PM the Narrator of your story they can arrange you killing your character (and they may do so with some glee).
What is allowed in my signature?
We require you signature image to be a total of 515 (width) x 300 (high) pixels OR UNDER. Any bigger and the screen stretches. The signature MUST link to your character's sheet for quick reference.
Role PlayingI've never really RP'd (or RP'd online) and I'm kinda lost. Can anyone help me?
Roleplaying is just like telling a story cooperatively. That said, if you are really confused you can PM any Narrator or Admin with questions that you may have.
Do I have to post in first- or third-person?
Both are accepted. Third person is by far in the majority however and nearly everyone uses that format.
Do I need to know a lot of the history to begin play?
Familiarity with the history is highly encouraged but not necessary.
Where should I start? Should I just place a post in a story line?
No you must apply for a character first. Once this is approved you will start with the Head Admin in the Training Center. All new characters will be required to spend sometime RPing in the Training Center, usually for at least one month. During this time the Head Admin will work with you and the other players on the site to get you involved with how the Narrator process works and placed a team. Another good way to get involved is to actively contact any Narrators or Team Leaders OOC about openings on the team they are involved with and you can talk with the players in the General OOC area or on the CBox about maybe starting some past historical or Prologue stories with them.
Once I start a story, do I have to stay in just that thread?
Your character can only be in one place at a time. Until your thread ends you should not join another thread, nor start a new one without Narrator permission. You can, however, post in a Prologue, a story that happens before the current timeline. Additionally, Narrators may sometimes set up threads called Asides for tangent subplots. Just PM your Narrator to request it.
How do I join a team or find a group to roleplay with?
The easiest way to find a team is to PM a Team Leader asking him or her if you can join their team. They will work with the Head Admin and Narrators to get you involved once you are ready. Sometimes a Narrator will work out the idea of you joining a team early on after you finish your time in the Training Center.
How does fighting work?
Fighting is basically a matter of action and reaction. You state your actions and then wait for your opponents’ reaction. It is good not to do more than one or two actions in one post. When you fight it is especially important to take great care not to control the other persons actions. Fighting between two characters is rare and most fights will occur against NPC's. Also you should take great care not to Autokill an opponent. All combat, except in Prologues, is adjudicated by a Narrator.
How often should I post? Is there a minimum requirement?
We aim to have players post at least once every week. Some post less but remember, if you are going to post more slowly other people are not going to want to wait for you. So if you cannot post at least once every week joining a slower moving thread would probably be best. We ask that you try to check in at least every 72 hours. If you are not going to be able to post in this time for some reasons please make a note in the Leave of Absences thread so that your fellow players are aware.
How long should my post be?
Most posts should be at least a four original sentences long and give the others writing with you something to respond to. Sometimes they are shorter but usually they are at least that long. We ask for no less than quality four original sentences as a standard not counting quotes.
My post is too short! How can I make it longer?
To make posts longer I have found that it helps to add more description to a scene. You can talk about how the weather is, or what your character is thinking. Also people tend to forget about sounds which are great for beefing up your word count ( Ex."His boots echoed off the walls as he ran down the hall").
MiscellaneousCan I Advertise for my site on here?
Advertising is only allowed in the designated area and only if you post our Advertisement on your site. When in doubt, ask your Admin.
How do I get those nifty graphics?
Ask around! Our group has some really creative, talented folk that are always willing to lend a hand. We do have a couple of signature/video/avatar request threads where you can put your request.
If I need to update my character for any reason, how go about making that happen?
Simple, PM one of the Admins and ask them while they are on if they can unlock your Character Profile. Please be clear of what you need to change. We'll monitor the switch to make sure it is not too big of a change and then relock the Bio or Stats Sheet.
How do I become a Team Leader or Narrator?
Quite simple. Fill out an appropriate Application and post in the correct place. These are positions are created and filled based on need. Additionally information can be found at the
Plot Council page.
Any Staff Member from any of the Staff Council will always be happy to entertain questions regarding the site by either PM or in the CBox.
