Being a fighter pilot, Jagged has a bit of the “fighter jock” mentality in that he has an arrogance or cockiness. However, this “arrogance” is a result of a deep seated self-assurance, a result of his strong moral sense and integrity.

Biography:
Jagged Antilles was born on Corellia in 574 ABY to the union of two of the most well known families in the galaxy. His father is a descendant of the Antilles family who worked for Galactic Alliance Intelligence for many years before retiring to Corellia to take-over the family owned refueling station. Jagged’s mother is a descendant of the Solo family (through Allana’s line) and her branch of the family has largely split off from Daven Solo’s family line. She worked in the Corellian homefleet for many years as a fighter pilot and later a wing commander. After meeting Jagged’s father, she left active service and became a standby member (on call during a crisis). During her service, she was presented with (and later bought) an N7 Astromech unit which she named Spectre. As one might imagine, Jagged’s childhood was an interesting one, a mix of military and intelligence heritage. Ultimately, however, Jagged chose the path of his mother, joining the Galactic Alliance Starfighter corp.

Jagged was raised on Corellia, spending much of his time at school and at his father’s refueling station. At the latter, he learned the basics of piloting and mechanics, skills that would serve him well in later years. Jagged was also trained by his father in the basics of intelligence work and although we would later choose not to enter that field of work, he did discover that he had an affinity for it. As he grew older, Jagged developed an affinity for Spectre and the two became close partners. When Jagged finished his schooling, he joined the Galactic Alliance Starfighter Alliance, taking Spectre with him, and came out of training in time to participate in the GA-Mandalorian War.

His training began at the GA facility on Corellia and he quickly realized that he had found his niche. He advanced quickly in training, both because of his skill and because of the looming Mandalorian War. During his training, he earned the nickname “Solo” due to his lineage as well as his skill. He was eventually placed in Red Squadron, named for the historic squadron which destroyed the Death Star in the Galactic Civil War. Jagged was given the designation “Red 9” and he soon began his “hands-on” training. Red Squadron was given a number of short and simple missions designed to test everything from plotting hyperspace jumps to basic combat against small pirates. During one of these missions, Red Squadron was sent on a routine mission to the Vergesso Asteroids where they faced their first “trial by fire”. A Mandalorian patrol was in-system and a battle ensued between them and Red Squadron. The squadron fared well, managing to eliminate the majority of the Mandalorian fighters and inflicting severe damage upon a light cruiser before retreating. Jagged managed to make “ace” during the battle, destroying five Mando fighters.

Soon after Red Squadron was officially listed as an active squadron and assigned to the ship Mon Remonda, a Mon Calamari capital ship (The name is kept in service by a GA mandate). Red Squadron fought a number of small skirmishes against the Mandalorians before Kola Quie succeeded in creating a shield resistant to AE-Drones. Jagged, and many other, newer pilots were thankful for this due to the massive causalities the weapon had inflicted in the beginning of the war. The war continued for four more years and Jagged saw it from start to finish. He acquitted himself well, earning the rank of “Lieutenant” and earning a reputation throughout the starfighter corp for his superior piloting skills. Eventually, the Mon Remonda was assigned to the Galactic Alliance Fifth Fleet, participating in a number of battles with them at the end of the war.

At the battle of Mon Calamari, the Fifth Fleet engaged one of the main Mandalorian fleets in a final offensive. Fifth Fleet arrived at the planet after receiving an emergency message from the planet. Fifth fleet rushed to the Mon Calamari system in time to interrupt a Mandalorian attack on the planet. Mon Calamari had already taken substantial damage from bombing and the shipyards were badly damaged. In the end, the only thing that stopped the Mandalorian advance (and one of their final offensives of the war) was the arrival of Fifth Fleet. As the Mandalorian Fleet advanced out-system (intending to smash through the GA Fleet), Fifth Fleet advanced inward, intending to reach the planet as soon as possible. The two fleets interpenetrated and fighter battles raged throughout the system. Towards the end of the battle, a transport protected by Mandalorian fighters left one of the islands on the Mon Calamari world. Red Squadron was assigned to eliminate both the fighter escort and the transport. Red Squadron entered that atmosphere over one of Mon Calamari’s larger oceans successfully eliminated the fighter escort. The Mando’s aboard the transport then sent a “message” in order to encourage an escape. Through one of air locks, several bodies of both Mon Calamari and Quarren’s tumbled out. Realizing the ship was a slave transport, Red Squadron tried to keep the ship from leaving the planet by loosing a flurry of lasers above the ship. Regardless, the transport darted upwards through the lasers, taking damage and Red Squadron immediately stopped firing, not wanting to destroy the transport. Not content with letting the ship escape, Jagged took his fighter and placed himself directly above the transport. The Mandalorian pilots attempted to dart out from under the ship yet failed to out fly Jagged (he maneuvered to stay on top). The transport even tried to ram Jagged’s ship but he stayed the course. Eventually, the Mandalorian pilots, protected by their Mark III beskar’gam as well as flightsuits, ejected out of the transport, landing on one of the islands. The transport immediately began a steep dive towards the Mon Calamari ocean. Despite being ordered to abandon the transport, Jagged Antilles dove underneath and nudged the trajectory of the ship up. He managed to lift the ship a few degrees before his overtaxed shields gave way. Despite this, he continued to use his ship’s hull to change the trajectory of the transport, eventually succeeding in changing the ship’s trajectory to a safe angle. Instead of a steep dive which would have destroyed the ship on impact, the transport made a relatively safe splashdown in the ocean, nosediving into the water, submerging for a moment and then rising. Jagged’s ship, however, took serious hull damage during the operation and he was forced to crash into the ocean as well. Mon Calamari rescue crews arrived on seen in time to keep the transport from sinking, rescuing the captives as well as Jagged and Spectre. The battle continued with the Mandalorian fleet escaping although damaged and Jagged was awarded by the Galactic Alliance for his bravery as well as his skill throughout the battle (numerous kills on Mandalorian fighters).

For his actions during the battle, the Corellian government also awarded Jagged with first class Corellian Blood stripes. The news of this reached Jagged Antilles just as he and Fifth Fleet prepared for the Battle at Hapes. During that battle, Jagged once again proved both his skill as a pilot, assisting Red Squadron in decimating the final Mandalorian Fleet. When the command came down to execute the Mandalorian survivors, Jagged was horrified. As he saw it, this sort of revenge and vindication was something worthy of Mandalorians, not the Galactic Alliance. Despite the relatively short and bloodless civil war that followed, much of Jagged’s faith in the GA was severely broken and he found that he could no longer serve, at least for the time being.

Soon after leaving the GA, Jagged picked up on old cargo hauler and began running relief missions for worlds damaged by the Mandalorians along with Spectre. His missions took him throughout the galaxy, Kuat to Bespin, Hapes to Mon Calamari. During his travels, he received a communiqué from his family on Corellia. They had found the designs for a custom ship built some six hundred years ago and they thought he might be interested. Jagged was. The design had been for a ship named the Blue Vein and Jagged saw a world of potential in its design. With the help of his droid, Spectre, Jagged upgraded and modified the designs to a vessel worthy of the modern era. Spending all of his credits (and selling his cargo hauler), he had the ship built to his specifications and he received it (named it Phoenix) just before the current conflict erupted.

Likes: Close friends and family, piloting, fighting for a cause

Dislikes: Mandalorians, needless destruction, corruption

Strengths: Superior piloting, strong moral compass, intelligence work

Weaknesses: Occasionally stubborn and overconfident

Fears: Bugs, losing Spectre or other people close to him

Any chance you could edit it so that the screen is not double-wide?

I"m not sure how...the problem is that the images are staying at their original resolution as opposed to reducing their size and I have no idea how to do that... sorry.

Hm, I see what you mean. This isn't giving much options.

Admins, is the doHTML tag enabled in this section? If not, could you please?

Heh, does saving it to your own Photobucket really count?

I'm still in favor of enabling doHTML, but then again if I had my way I'd learn Javascript and use it to enhance my posts if I could find a way.

Just a quick heads-up. I'm changing Jagged's nickname from "Wedge" to "Solo". It's still a nickname given to him by his squadmates in the GA but I like "Solo" better and it'll help come into play when it comes time to deal with his family's Solo line and the Skywalker/Solo line biggrin.gif
