This will certainly be an interesting place for a base, thought Cain Warsell as he sat in the large darkened room that would apparently serve as Black Sun’s new meeting room in their new base on Krant. It didn’t take long after arriving on the world for Cain to notice a few things that would probably be important the most important to Black Sun being the fact that the dense forest world provided great cover for the new base that Jardan Prosic had chosen.
One thing that wasn’t as significant to Black Sun but was more-so to him was the fact that the force was thick on this world. Even before he landed in Ral’Rei Var’s ship along with Ala Sen and Rei Var herself he felt the dense seductive feel of the dark side of the force radiating from the world. There was a light feel to the world too but the major overriding force feel to Krant was dark. Upon reading up on it some after landing he read that there were Jedi ruins along with remains of two Sith temples from the ancient Galactic Civil War era and before.
The dark side itself didn’t bother Cain much as while he didn’t consider himself a Jedi anymore he certainly wasn’t Sith either. He used the dark side from time to time in his free life after leaving the Jedi but just as with his light side powers, Cain tried to use them as little as he could. No matter how many there were around the galaxy, force users still stood out in any small crowd and he still needed to fade into the background somewhat and he thought, probably always would.
He sat up some as the figure of Jardan Prosic walked slowly into the meeting room of the old but renovated building followed closely by Ral’Rei Var and not too far behind was Ala Sen. Cain didn’t know the Twilek Rei well and didn’t know the imposing Zabrac male Ala Sen at all but from what he did know, it seemed that Black Sun while still small, certainly had the right few pieces to rebuild.
“Alright, so this is the deal, this” came the deep voice of Jardan Prosic as he pointed at the three other people besides himself, “This is Black Sun. This is all we have left of this region. Only one high ranking person in Black Sun and the boss himself know that we are even still here and that’s the way we’re going to keep it for a while. We need Saul and his empire to work it out on his own that we are still kicking. He knows that he didn’t get all of us no doubt. His intel would let him know that at least myself, Rei and Sen escaped.
“We do however have one agent that they don’t know about,” Jardan continued as he looked in Cain’s direction, “and that is you Q. They didn’t come after you so that means you were off of and still are off of their radar. This is an advantage we will need to keep so while Rei and Sen are running missions here and there Q, you will be running them solo.”
Cain liked that idea more than Jardan knew since he had been running solo for so long now anyway, “Sounds good boss. Speaking of boss, you are Vigo right?”
Jardan dropped his head slightly then looked around, “It’s not something I ever wanted to say or thought I would say Q but yeah, I am Vigo now. You can call me Jardan though.”
“Rei,” Jardan said and Rei Var’s talons twitched, “La’sume the Hutt on Tatooine is one who wants to continue in her criminal organization that she had going on before Saul’s latest bold move. One reason we are in Bothan Space now is because of this close proximity to Tatooine as we are able to go there and return to base without having to traverse all of Saul’s space. You two go there and speak with her. Spaz will meet you near there and take you to the meeting place with La’sume. You may leave when ready.”
As they started to leave Cain went to follow but was called back, “Qinto, a word?” Jardan said.
“Sure boss,” Cain responded calmly, “What do you have?”
“Q, I have nothing for you specifically. I might need to know some intel here and there that only you can safely retrieve for me. There might be a place and time when I need your assassination skills in short order. But mainly I want you to go about on your own and do what you can. Find information, disrupt the Zann boys where you can or even execute a deadly strike against any of them if you can. Anything you can do and feel you should do to hurt the people who did this to us as well as improve our standing in some way, I want you to do. Check with me now and then and I’ll expect you to be where I need you if I need you, but other than that, you’re on your own. Can you handle that?”
As Cain sat he thought of all of the possibilities that his new position had in common with his last as a Bounty Hunter or Assassin for Hire. The only difference now was that he had a lot more credits and a couple of ship choices along with the support of a small organization.
“No problem Jardan, I will do everything I can I assure you,” Cain said as he rose to leave the room.
“Q,” Jardan said once more and Cain turned to face him, “Thanks for giving me the kick in the butt I needed to do this. We wouldn’t be here without you.”
“Anytime Jardan,” Cain said, “I’ll be there to kick your butt whenever you need me to.” With that he smiled and left deciding to go check out some of the Jedi and Sith ruins for a while before making a decision on what to do or where to go next.
