> Welcome To Legends of Alagaësia
News::.
Before your grandfathers' fathers were born, and even before their fathers, the Dragon Riders were formed. To protect and guard was their mission, and for thousands of years they succeeded. Their prowess in battle was unmatched, for each had the strength of ten men. They were immortal unless blade or poison took them. For good only were their powers used, and under their tutelage tall cities and towers were built out of the living stone. Wealth flowed into the cities of Alagaesia, and men prospered. Though no enemy could destroy them, they could not guard against themselves. And it came to pass at the height of their power that a boy, Galbatorix, was born. At ten he was tested and it was found that a great power resided in him. The Riders accepted him as one of their own, and he exceeded all others in skill. Gifted with a sharp mind and strong body, he quickly rose among the Riders' ranks. The Riders grew arrogant in their power and ignored caution. During a reckless trip Galbatorix and two friends were ambushed, his friends killed, and his dragon slayed. For months he wandered, becoming more and more mad, until he was found unconscious by a kind farmer, and returned to the Riders' council. When the Riders refused to grant him another dragon, Galbatorix grew mad with rage. Vowing revenge on the Riders, he began to hone his use of dark secrets, learned from a Shade. Then, in the dark of the night he stole a dragon hatchling, and convinced Morzan, a weak-minded Rider, to join him in his practice of dark secrets and forbidden magic. Together they gained strength, and waged a war of revenge against the Riders. Twelve more of the Riders, desiring power and revenge, joined Galbatorix, and they became the Thirteen Forsworn. In the last bloody battle, Galbatorix gained dominance over all, and anointed himself king over all Alagaesia. And from that day on, he has ruled. . . . These tales of legends of old, truths of the past, have gone into the darkness of our memory; forgotten from the both the minds of young men and woman. No longer is the story of Riders told, no more is it a known fact that they were once peace keepers. Such legends have lost their former glory, now thought of monsters replace them; cruel fiends of destruction.

Jacob looked at his sword before sheathing it. It reminded him of what had happened to his father and brothers everytime he looked at it though he still loved everything about the blade, from the the shine of its tip to the leather on the handle, he wouldn't trade it for any blade.

The young warrior stood from the stump he had been sitting on. He had just finished packing for the long journey back to the plains. His Varden armor was bright in the light. Jacob looked around at the others who were still finishing up packing all their things. It hadn't tooken him long at all, not much else was needed for him so all he wore was a small pack over his shoulder of his belongings. Already he had said good bye to his mother who wept the whole time, but she never asked him to stay she knew what he fought for.

The teen took a step away from the group looking up to the sky and then over the land. This trip would not be a short one, but he awaited the day he would join the other men of the Varden to help take down the Empire.

Eragon stormed out of the Office of The council. He was furious. After weeks of plans they ahd decided to chaneg it all on a whim. This was an insult to his authority.

How can they do this to me? Eragon thought to himself. Well not to himself for he was never alone, yet Saphira might as well have been considered with him as one.

Do not dispare young one. The coucil will soon see their failer to listen adn then they will return with open arms. she replied.

By then it may be to late. Eragon replied to her.

This is true but we will be there to help the soldiers ouyt. WSh reassured him. No matter how he felt she could always put his mind to ease.

He placed his hand on her mountain like shoulder and he walked along side her down the large halls. They where to meet with the soldiers and travel with them to teh battle site. Reaching out with his mind he could feel the emotion odf teh soldiers. The fear, hatrid, anger, but one person stood out. A boy of around teh same age as Eragon.

As if he was drawn to him, Eragon walked toward the boy and then spoke, "You are wise to have unsettleties. Death is never easy, believe me I know. There is nothing you can do to bring them back, but you can honor them with the way you fight." He exclaimed as he placed his hand on the boys shoulder, as Eragon walked up behind him.

Jacob jumped as a hand touched his shoulder. He had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts he had almost left his place in Aberon. He turned around slowly thinking it was just another one of the soldiers, but to his suprise it wasn't. No it was the rider, Eragon! His blue dragon stood tall next to him, she was bigger than the teen had remembered her back in Farthen Dur.

"It's-it's you, Eragon! The rider." The Varden soldier said the last sentence in more of a whisper. "It's an honor to meet you sir." Jacob said to the rider who couldn't be more than two three years older than himself.

His eyes turned to the blue dragon. She was massive yet looked so elegant and graceful. The young man then remembered what he had read and heard about dragon riders. Dragon's weren't just mere beast they were intelligent beings. "I greet your dragon Saphira to." He said giving a small bow.

It was something he never thought would happen. He Jacob Smithson was talking to Eragon the dragon rider. Just like he was a normal person. He didn't look like he did back in Farthen Dur when Jacob had gotten a good loook at him. He had seen him at the first burning plains battle but not as good as back in Farthen Dur. His ears were now pointed his features all seemed different. The teen felt it would be rude to question him on such things. Maybe it was a spell gone wrong or part of being a rider.

Jessica sat down on the ground, keeping her head down. She ate the meal provided, glad that nobody paid any attention. She had chosen to dress as a man, not wishing anyone to question her. The armor she wore was masculine, as she had done quite a bit to bandage her breasts so that they were not noticable.

It had been painful and was still uncomfortable, but last time she tried to join the war as a woman they had sent her away. Just because she was so younge? It wasn't fair as far as she was concerned.

She wore her scyth on the straps on her back, glad she had taken the time earlier to do so. It was out in theopen for all to see. But nobody bothered to ask her about it. They were all distracted with thier own concerns.

Her eyes went to the blue form towering above the crowd. Her eyes glazed over with awe. Saphira... the great steed and friend of Eragon. She so wished to meet them. But so far this was as close as she had ever gotten to the group. If only there was a way she could prove that she could be useful.

She ran fingers through her hair, but they only hit her helmet. She bit her lip, remembering she had put on the helmet in order to hide her hair, rather then having to chop it off. Her brilliant blue eyes kept looking to Saphira. But after awhile she went back to eating her food, sighing. There was little chance of ever meeting them so she needed to get used to that fact.

Jacob was still in shock that he was just talking to Eragon. Had he imagined it? People didn't seem to gather around waiting for blessings or anything. He felt like he was in his own world or something losing sanity. The soldier looked around to make sure this wasn't some imagination. Smithson had to see how the others were reacting to this.

His eyes moved around the camp and he noticed a face looking his way. Jacob watched as the man hit his helmet and seemed to be suprised by its presence. So he wasn't the only one in shock! The young man's head turned back to Eragon and then the man. Now something else was bugging him the man seemed a little weird looking to, not in a bad way but almost like Jacob was attracted to him, he seemed to have some feminine features in his face and Jake couldn't help but enjoy them.

Now things were getting really weird maybe he was dreaming or something. Quickly he turned his head away from the attractive girl looking man and back to Eragon and Saphira. He lifted his fist punching himself in the stomach. It actually did hurt which meant he wasn't dreaming and he really was talking to the dragon rider and checking out one of the other guys. Alll of the sudden things felt a little weird.

Eragon could not help but luagh at teh way teh boy seemed to act. Saphira too seemed to luagh as she let out her rough grunts.

~I am glad to meet you~ Saphira told the boy.~

People all around began to stare and it was weird being back amunst teh humans. He had grown so accustom to teh way of the elves that he was begining to get paranoid.

Some times I forget that I am not longer able to speack to others with out them acting a fool. ERagon told the great blue animal next to him.

"There is no reason to act so nervous I am no diffrent then you. You may speak to me as if I was a fellow soldier."

(sorry about my post but I am busy and it was rushed)

Jacob watched as the two laughed. They must have seen the look on his face as he looked at the feminine looking man and then looked quickly away back to them. The teen simply shurgged and gave a grin. He wondered if they knew what he was thinking about with the man after all from what he had heard they could read thoughts like a magicain. Smithson had considered trying to learn how to do that once he had some free time but it wouldn't be good to try while heading to war.

A female voice entered his thoughts. It didn't take much time for him to realize it was the dragon. The mind speak didn't freak him out to bad for in the first war his mind had been attacked, but one of the Varden's magicains had killed the man 'probbing him' maybe it was Eragon. The teen thought up an answer figuring thats how it worked. Its my honor.

Jacob listened as Eragon spoke. The elf looking rider was right it should have been talking to a normal person, but it wasn't. "Well I hate to disagree, but you are a dragon one of two in the land. Your a lot more important than me in the Varden's ranks and I'm sure your much wiser."

The teen was a big reader and had been raised in Fartthen Dur with a lot of dwarven friends who had a big library so he knew a lot about magic and elves not a lot about riders though he was sure they were powerful.

Something just didn't seem right about the man. Never before had Jacob been attracted to men so why had it started now. He would have to go speak to him after the rider left. His eyes moved away from Saphira and back to the attractive soldier. It was kinda obvious to anyone around that he was starring at him trying to figure out what it was, but he didn't notice he wass to deep in thought with the rider and then the dragon and soldier he was attracted to.

Jessica got up, adjusting herself and tossing away the food. She headed idly through the crowd, mostly to practice her walk. She was just trying to not look aluring, which was a pain. She headed closer to the rider and dragon, wanting a better look. She gawked at Saphira openly, due to the fact she figured she wouldn't be noticed among the huge group of gawking men.

Her blue eyes glanced to the boy who was being spoken to for a moment. She wondered what relashionship this boy had that would allow him to be noticed by Eragon. But then again Jessica had always figured the rider to have his power blowing up his head.

She wouldn't say this outloud, as she had no right to say such things. she hadn't ever actually met him. She adjusted her helmet a little, making sure that she wouldn't be noticed too greatly. Her hands were gloved with thick gloves that made her hands look bigger.

Jacob watched as some men began to gather around it seemed his talk with the the rider and dragon would be cut short. Eragon already seemed to be a little irritated with him studdering and acting as though he was high in power, so the crowd was sure to get him to leave. Hopefully not though he was just starting to get use to being around the dragon and rider plus his excitment had gone down a bit.

He noticed the strange man had also come near. Maybe the man was elven, the teen had heard all elves were attractive and the only elf h had seen before was Ayra and she proved what he heard true so maybe elven men were like that of women. Though Eragon looked a bit elvish and Jacob found no attraction with him. Maybe Eragon wasn't full elf or maybe that was just how dragon riders ended up looking after having their dragon for years.

Maybe the dragon Saphira had an answer to his situation so he began to try and communicate with her the only way he knew how to, thinking. Saphira? Do you see that man over there, does something about him look strange to you? It was funny how he did it like it was a common thing, but he was interested and confused by this man and it was starting to really feel weird. Hopefully the blue dragon would be able to answer his question or he would have to question the guy himself, which would be even weirder than things already were and that was not needed.

Eragon took notice of the people stareing and rolled his eyes as eh took a breathe. They will never accept us. He told Saphira.

Give them time She replied.

He shrugged and began to fell strange as he picked up on the thoughts of one soldier. It was a women in mens clothes. She was young and yet seemed to dislike Eragon.

He grinned at the woman and said, "So teh power si going to my head is it? Well then you my dear lady can go and find somewhere else that does not need my assistance." He then realized that he had blown her cover and yet he was not mad at all.

Jacob waited for an answer from either rider or dragon but nothing came from the two. Instead Eragon seemed to turn his attention to the man Jake suspected to be elven. This seemed a bit rude to the teen, but if the rider could provide some kind of answer to the situation he wouldn't care about his manners. Maybe the rider Eragon knew the elf or something.

Then the rider spoke and the teen's jaw dropped with a smile. It was a girl not a man or elf! This changed things completely. The Varden soldier couldn't help standing there in shock yet it wasn't that shocking to him, he had known something was different about the soldier it wasn't usual for a man to look so pretty.

Eragon had just helped him figure something out without even knowing or at least he thought he didn't know, so the whole rude thing no longer was even in Jake's mind he was to caught up staring at the girl and wondering what would happen next. The rider had just addressed her on a comment she had apparently made without Jacob noticing. Though he did not see her mouth movie, maybe eragon had entered her thoughts like Saphira had entered his own.
