It is likely that a movie about Gilgamesh, probably the first recorded hero.

I would actually prefer them making a more fantastic version that one trying to down-to-earth realistic, since trying to make so-so historical accuracy with myths never get far- like King Arthur and Troy- without the magical and mythological elements the stories are kind of dull.
I have nothing against realism, but when doing realism do it right- no Keira Knightley in wierd clothes or stuff like that...

There are of course parts of these ancient sumerian stories that are lost, and there are multiple versions... Though I think I would want to see the one with the most things happening being adapted, monsters and all.

It is in pre-production, but I am certainly looking forward to this.
About time babylon and the east in general are the good guys, and a movie is done of the oldest of stories.

Actually, a Beowulf movie is in the works, and is going to be computer animated. Big actor names are attached to it, so the quality may be bad- but on other hand, Anthony Hopkins is into it, and he knows what he is doing most of the time. Might be good, maybe not.

Back to Gilgamesh- actually had quite a thing for the legend at the time. He may appear together with another legendary figure, Cyrus the Great (though with more historically correct background), in a not-so-serious scene.
But I do not want to see anything pseudo-historical, nor hollywoodized. Source faithful, Babylonian or older version, I do not mind.
