Title: Total War PC game series
Dr. Paleo Ph.D. - January 17, 2011 11:56 PM (GMT)
Hey guys,
If you guys don't know, then I'm gonna throw up my hands and give up. :-D
I recently bought a used copy of Medieval: Total War for 99 cents and I'm loving it. (Will have to track down another copy, though, campaign mode seems to be broken! :( )
I'm interested in Rome and Medieval 2 from the Total War series as well. I hear they have "sexual themes" though. Being religious (as you guys know, or at least the old crew :P ) I gotta know, is it bad? How bad? What exactly? If you need, a PM would be fine even.
(And what's this I hear about the Barbarian expansion pack adding "religion" to the Rome one? Can anyone tell me what that means?)
Thanks all,
Spencer

To e frank I do not know, I've played those games quite little (and not in campaign mode). I thought they were mainly about the battles (in which I have a hard time imagining there'd be any issues of this kind!), but maybe there are some movie clips here and there to fill out the story...

Total War is an awesome series. Sadly, I can't really help ya with your "religion update" Rome question, as it was before my time. You wouldn't happen to have Empire: Total War, would you? I have it and I've put a 1000 hours on it.
Concerning the rating: They're all rated T, so don't expect anything too bad. Empire had a rating for language, for example, even though in all my hundreds of hours playing it, they only used about four cuss words.
@Maedhros: You should pick one up, especially the newest one, Napoleon: Total War, which recieved an award as best pc game of the year. They have a new, up-coming one also: Shogun 2: Total War, sequel to the first TW game Shogun: TW.
Hope I helped! :D

Yea, right, but when would I ever have time to play it? ;)

I remember that feeling. Now my high school years seem like a distant, blurred memory. I'm in the same boat with Maedhros; college is one of those things I just can't imagine ending! But it's an enjoyable journey, at least well enough of one. Can't say I've got time for video games like the good find Dr. Paleo made, but that's a sacrifice worth making. :spear:

Well, I actually meant it quite literally  I'm already teaching a bit of Latin and Greek, and working on getting a Master's degree in Intellectual History, and possibly one in Greek too, and I should get at least a Bachelor in Latin, and after that of course a PhD in one of those, and then there's research and teaching and...
So yes, I'll most likely stay in the academy for the rest of my life ;)
