Gryffindor Common Room
Gryffindor Tower is located behind the portrait of the Fat Lady on the Seventh Floor of Hogwarts Castle. A password is required to enter it, which is spoken to the portrait. A circular hole is behind the painting, leading to the common room, which is a circular room where Gryffindor students can relax after a long day of studying. The common room is full of squashy armchairs, tables, and a bulletin board where school notices, ads, lost posters, etc. can be posted. A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace dominates one wall. The common room is decorated with scarlet tapestries, which hang on the walls.

Ravenclaw Common Room
The entrance to the common room is at the top of a spiral staircase, and is a door without a doorknob or keyhole but a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. In order to enter the room, a person must answer a riddle asked by the eagle knocker; if they answer incorrectly, they must wait for someone else who gets it right. The Ravenclaw common room is one of the airiest rooms at Hogwarts. It is a wide, circular room with a midnight blue carpet, arched windows hung with soft blue and bronze silks, and a domed ceiling painted with stars. During the day, the Ravenclaw students would have an excellent view of the school grounds, including the surrounding mountains. The room is furnished with tables, chairs, and bookcases; and by the door leading up to the dormitiories stands a tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw made of white marble.

The Owlery
The Owlery is a room on the top of Hogwarts Castle's West Tower, where the school owls and the owls belonging to students live during the school year. The Owlery is a circular stone room, rather cold and drafty, because none of the windows have glass in them. The lack of glass on the windows allow the owls to come and go freely. The floor is entirely covered in straw, owl droppings, and the regurgitated skeletons of mice and voles. Many owls are nestled here on perches that rise right up to the top of the tower. During the winter months, the room is very cold, to the point that one has to be careful with ice on the higher landings.

Clock Tower
The Clock Tower provides access to higher floors in the school and also has bells to signal the hours and class times. The Tower does not begin at the Ground Floor level, instead at Third Floor level due to the fact that the tower is located on a hill. Upon entering the Tower, one will find oneself in a very large space, not unlike an entrance hall. Flights of wooden stairs are situated on both the right and left sides. The first landing in the tower is at the Fourth Floor level. It is at this landing that the clock's mechanism and face can be accessed. On this landing there is also long corridor with an entrance to the Hospital wing. This same corridor connects the Tower to the remainder of the castle. After ascending another flight of wooden stairs, one will reach another landing, this time at the Fifth Floor level. At this level one will find the clock's massive gold and copper bells and the start of the giant pendulum. It can be a good place to hold a meeting if one wishes.
