Log #1 - Pokemon have grown alongside Humans for centuries. And through the years as the Humans saw the powers of these creatures, they were given names. These names were not only on the creatures themselves, but a certain set of names were given to whole sets of creatures, reflecting on their powers and actions. Different names were given to these classifications, each culture having its own views on these powers. But as Humans evolved socially and began to come together, their views were mixed. Although Cultural Type Classifications (CTCs) still existed, a main type of classification was taught to young trainers all across the world known as the First Order Classification (FOC). Types have been added to the list as new Pokemon have been discovered but this is what exists as of now: Bug, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Ghost, Grass, Water, Steel, Rock, Psychic, Poison, Normal, Ground, Ice
Just recently, the FOC has gone through a revision (now known as the Second Order Classification) that is simpler for trainers, and to understand Pokemon types better. Here are the types so far (Classes; Natural, Normal, and Beyond; and their Subtypes):
Natural
Heat Pokemon under this classification have the power to alter or control heat, this ability usually seen in fire attacks (hence the original FOC name Fire). Pokemon of this classification are very effective against those of the Nature, Frost, Critter, and Metal classifications. At the same time they are not too effective against themselves and those of the Ancient, Water, and Earth classifications. Prof. Alder's Note: As a skilled trainer or a beginner, you cannot go wrong with a Heat Pokemon. Very useful as a starter (if you happen to take a trainer course like the majority of good trainers out there), Heat Pokemon have the stats and effectiveness that makes them balanced and versatile in battle. This makes them a common sight throughout the world, at deserts, caves, mountains, and especially, in the control of another trainer. 'Associated' Tribe: Desert Wanderers (NOMAD)
Water Pokemon under this classification have the power to control and shape water. Pokemon of this classification are very effective against those of the Earth and Heat classifications. At the same time they are not too effective against themselves and those of the Ancient and Nature classifications. Prof. Alder's Note: If there is one thing that matches Heat Pokemon in popularity, it is its rival, the Water Pokemon. Like Heat Pokemon, those of Water do extremely well in certain categories. Although they are offensively weaker than Heat Pokemon, their endurance is much higher, and Water Pokemon make easy work of some otherwise 'unbeatable' Pokemon. While Water Pokemon may not make any appearance in some areas, they have whole groups of trainers devoted to them. They can be caught in any 'group of water' by fishing rods or by Pokemon (surfing). Water Pokemon are also offered as starters for those who take a trainer course. 'Associated' Tribe: The Sunken Ship (REBIRTH)
Nature Pokemon under this classification have power over plants and generally 'natural green things' (hence the original FOC name Grass). Pokemon of this classification are very effective against those of the Water and Earth classifications. At the same time they are not too effective against themselves and those of the Ancient, Sky, Heat, Critter, Acid, and Metal classifications. Prof. Alder's Note: At first glance, you might think that the Nature type has much too many weaknesses to be useful, but you couldn't be more wrong. Completing the elemental chain (Water, Fire, and Nature), Nature may not have the fierceness of other types, but it has a great defense that only a few can get through. Although its attacks won't do quite the expecting damage on a decent number of resistant types, others are vulnerable to the powerful moves that the Nature type can use. In the beginning of a trainer's journey, he may notice that Nature makes up a huge amount of the opponents' Pokemon, as the challenges get harder, they quickly dwindle in numbers, and those that appear are wiped aside by any decent Heat or Sky Pokemon in battle. So what is the use of having these Pokemon again? Nature Pokemon have long and slow evolution lines that can only reach their maximum power at the end. It is the end when they gain the strength needed to succeed and easily defeat enemies, and often, gain another type in the mix. Nature Pokemon can be caught in forests, trails, jungles, and just all over the place. They are offered as starters for those that take a trainer course, and the strategic should definitely give them a try. 'Associated' Tribe: SEEDs (PURITY)
Sky Pokemon under this classification can control wind. Prof. Alder's Note: Earth Pokemon under this classification can control the earth, including the ground or rocks. Prof. Alder's Note: Frost Pokemon under this classification can control the heat of an enemy, taking it away or calling on snow/ice to injure enemies. Prof. Alder's Note: Electric Pokemon under this classification can control electricity and many can call upon lightning. Prof. Alder's Note:
Normal Normal Pokemon under this classification are just normal beasts that use physical abilities to survive. Fighting Pokemon under this classification use advanced melee techniques. Critter Pokemon under this classification are smaller than those of the Normal classification, but have advanced techniques to defeat enemies. Acid Pokemon under this classification have access to venom or other substances that affect the condition of enemies. Metal Pokemon under this classification are increased offensively and defensively due to metals on their body. Spirit Pokemon under this classification are known as 'ghosts' because of the fact that they can travel through solids.
Beyond Ancient Pokemon under this classification are very old and powerful, almost prehistoric. They are very rare and only a few have been brought back using fossil revival techniques. They usually have increased stats and long evolution lines. *Others Coming Soon*
